Atlantic Elementary School

The first first school way built on 1904 it Was an two story structure out of wood then.The community thought education was very important
1st floor was 1 through 10th grades the second floor was used to get what was enough to get a teaching degree here in NC. Atlantic at that time was an incorprorated with a Mayor and all that went with that town in those days. At present education is still important to.our village Though we are not incorporated the school still exists as a large brick structure that does K- 8 now and has top ratings from the state for school of ezcelence for several years now. The student to teacher ratio is around 10 students to each teacher. The children that come out of this school finish high school and almost everyone then goes on to college.Atlantic may be a community that "Lives from the sea" , but here is a community where most all residents have at least. An BA or BS if not a higher degree onto PHD. It is a pleasure to live here an know that we are a very educated community with most adults that have a variety of degrees an can engage in conversations with most any people about any subject.It is a very close nit community as with any place that you use to have to have a boat to get to. We pride ourselves on family ties and a strong sense of community. The school supports four communities Stacy, Sea Level,Atlantic and Cedar Island an every thing in between those towns
