Bechtler Mint Site Historic Park

This is a very beautiful area. The trail goes all the way into downtown Rutherford. I like that it has mile markers. Provides historical Information and great information about the hillside with a great view. If you bring your puppy, they do not supply poo bags so remember to bring extra. Trail used to be a railroad so you get a little taste of what it's like being on the rails.

We've lived in the county for more than 10 years, and finally got around to visiting the site!

It was very interesting. We were all fascinated with the old tunnel. My oldest thought it was cool that we had a gold mine in our county.

The park is very nice. There are informational signs throughout, and benches to rest on.

This place was beautiful with the mountains in the background, and it was quiet and very peaceful. And the history behind it was pretty interesting. Especially the CREEPY COOL mine cave there that goes along with that history.

A great stop on the Thermal Belt Rail Trail. Learn about North Carolina being the site of the First GOLD RUSH in America, predating the California Gold Rush by years !

If your any type of history buff, this is a great stop with many interpretive features and signage. A pretty view on a very nice biking and paved hiking trail. Sadly, no flush toilets.

A very nice little park with local historical significance. There are several double sided information stations that tell the Bechtler story. There is a covered picnic area, toilet facilities, and is adjacent to a paved bike trail that is built along an old railroad grade.

Worth a quick stop, fascinating story regarding the history of the mint and gold mining in North Carolina. Access to the bike trail as well.

One of my most favorite places to visit! Rich in history. So quiet you almost feel like youve stepped back in time. Amazing views.

Great place to walk. Good parking area. Pet friendly. We walk it several times a week.

Happy to live in Rutherfordton. The rail trail is great. I here an RV Park is comming to the rail trail.
