Almost Perfect little campground. There needs to be a swimming hole somewhere and there is now cellular service. Beautiful spot to be!

We had an absolutely wonderful time there. Met some great folks. Got to see wildlife up close, right in our camp even.
We had wild turkeys come right through our camp several times.
And "Spot" the great big ol' longhorn bull.
Fall too is great because you could hear the elk bugling. Great sites, including free ranging buffalo (American bison).
Next time I'm gonna fish more too.

We got a perfect campsite and the grounds were well maintained around us. Please be advised that standard bathrooms may not be available as they are currently be renovated. Also only once in a while would there be one bar of service but for the most part you are truly at one with nature. If you are wanting a nice little spot with electricity and not far from the water choose site 47B ;) A perfect spot even in the middle of summer!

Wild camping very well equipped. Helpful and frendly staff. Great distance beetwen each campsites. You can get to your primitive campsite only walking. Toilets are close to the two car parking areas. A lot of wild animals at night time close to tents.

I would love to give this campground a 4.5 because although I loved the campground, the restrooms that were closest to our campsite were terrible. There were no doors on the building or the stalls whatsoever, and they looked filthy. However, we used the better ones a short drive away that we're well tended and had doors. There is a neat hiking trail that leads up the mountain nearby, so we did that a couple nights in a row at sunset. It was gorgeous. On the first morning, we awoke to turkey calls. We later wandered around and found the flock that was hanging out by the campground entrance.

The campground was great! The gate attendant was amiable and helpful in instructing us about the park. The park itself has lots of space and has spots for tents, cars, and RV's with spots both with and without electricity. Water pumps are located in various spots around the camp for public use, and there is at least one RV dump station at the entrance of the grounds. The water pumps are high-pressure, so BE SURE to use a 60 psi regulator in order to minimize damage to your water system. The camp itself covers a wide area, and is very close to a nice hike with a mountain and a large lake and dam. There is no service in the campground itself, but there is a short hike to a large rocky hill where service is achievable. The showers and restrooms were a bit outdated and lacked sufficient shelves to put clothes or towels, but they were clean and did the job well. Don't be afraid of the buttons, the showers spray nice, warm water at variable flow rates. Overall, a lovely experience!

We absolutely love camping at Doris. We make a yearly pilgrimage here every early march. They have recently (2022) upgraded the men's and women's bathrooms and showers. The staff is friendly and the campground is always clean. Using Doris as a base camp provides easy access to all the major trailheads in the Refuge. Some places are always a drive like Elk Mountain or Mt. Scott but these are within 10 minutes or so. Our favorite is tent camping here but it will need to be done during the correct months. Would highly recommend an RV with AC during the summer months.

I love this campground!!!
The views, the space of each spot, the spacing of bathrooms, all of it are fantastic!
Make sure you put your food up and don’t leave it out because of the trash panda bandits (raccoons).

Great place for kayaking!

Definitely little to no service, but worth it!!! 😍

If you're looking to disconnect and enjoy beautiful views, this is the place. Pho e service is not here but you can get a good signal 5 minutes away. Just leave the phone behind, pack water, and grab your camera. You won't regret it.

Great campground! I have stayed in spots C35, C36, B46, B51. My favorite is C36. Shaded and close to dumpster and restroom/showers.

Beautiful, quiet campground (for the most part. A neighbor was up late playing music). Jmthe lake is small but still good for a little canoeing and fishing. We were in spot 36 and it had a great view of the lake and lots of space.

Beautiful place. The host is very friendly. Campground clean. Don't leave the ice chest out because raccoons are thieves.

When we have a group of 8 or more, we love Doris Campground! The group camp site easily fit 4 to 5 tents without feeling overcrowded.

The shelter is an added bonus for us to store our food supplies and bikes, not to mention a great area to seek shelter in an event of rain or strong winds. We also enjoy gathering around the fire ring in the evenings while we share meals and stories.

Toilets are available at the campsite and bathing facilities within walking distance. Do carry a flashlight when the sun set to avoid getting lost.

The parking area is large enough for 3 to 4 cars but we like to carpool if our group is large. The campsite is near some beautiful trails, and a short drive to surrounding areas like the Holy City of the Wichitas, Mount Scott, and Medicine Park.

Doris Campground was a pleasant experience for us! We chose campsite 34 as a single unit/non-electrical and with our proximity to both the shower house and dumpster we couldn't have chosen better!

Shower house was temperature controlled and the shower water actually got hot!

We would absolutely stay again!

Great place to go hiking!
Over Halloween weekend, we stayed at campsite #18 in Loop A. The campsite was smallish and only had room for 1 tent in addition the vault toilets were old and smelly. Our friends stayed in campsite #37 in Loop C and their campsite was much larger and it had showers and flushing toilets nearby.

We hiked on the Forty-Foot Hole trail and then crossed over onto the Bison Trail to see the Buffalo. No cell service, so you'll need to download your maps before you leave. Had a great time and plan to return!

This was our first real RV trip and we couldn't have asked for a better spot. A lot of wildlife on the camp ground or near by. We have seen bison, deer, elk, turkey and long horns. We had a wonderful hiking trail right by our camping spot. There are also a lot of good hiking nearby. We will be coming back!!

Camped in a semi-primitive spot ($8 a night in March 2018), and it was pretty empty the weekend that we went (only one other group in semi-primitive) as it was rather cold. Either way, it was an enjoyable experience. Campsites are quite roomy, we just had a hammock and a 2 person tent but could have fit a little bit more if needed. Employees were very nice. We purchased some wood for our fire for $5. The semi-primitive spots are close to the Mount Baldy trail, which is a fun quick hike.

Great place to camp with the family right in the middle of the Wichita refuge. You can now make reservations which is really nice thru Recreation.gov. Only complaint is they need to get the showers and bathrooms up and running ASAP.
