This trail is a great one. Make sure to have good shoes and water. It's well worth the challenge and my kids did it with us!

A nice trailhead area with picnic tables and some bathrooms if you're willing to use nasty pit toilets. Elk mountain is a fun 20 minute hike for the casuals, or if you know how to have real fun up there, several hours of good fun between boulder hopping and cave exploring.

Elk Mounika Trail…!!!One of the best hikes In Oklahoma Elk Mountain is one of the tallest granite peaks in the beautiful Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Its summit is at 2,270 feet, and the Elk Mountain Trail allows hikers to be able to view the Charon Garden Wilderness and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife

Beautiful area. Follow guidelines for trails. It's moderate level of hike. Uphill but wide open range in some areas with beautiful lookouts.

Such a delightful adventure. It took me over a hour to hike to the top, but only because I stopped many to times to soak in the amazing and beautiful views. This was in the dead of winter! Can’t wait to return in the spring! The trail was pretty easy to follow, however, I did lose the trail on the way down simply because I wasn’t paying attention. There were quite a few loose rocks along the way so be careful of those.

Beautiful views. Trail is pretty hard to follow in some places so look for the orange ribbons. Pretty overgrown in areas so be sure to wear bug spray and long pants

Loved the Charon Garden Trail hike! It was rated Hard and for good reason. Not a hike for the family, definitely need experience in hiking and conserving energy to get through the full trail down and back. In total it took about 3 hours with stops at the postage falls, and treasure lake. Views were awesome and the bouldering options are vast, with many levels of difficulty.

Rock trail. Make sure you are confident with this kind of trail, quite hard but worthy. Some bison on sight

Go here, there's dozens of trails, you can hike the easy, medium or hard trails, hard to get lost, careful with snakes and enjoy jumping over boulders. Amazing place to visit again and again.

Excellent hike and scenery! It is challenging as most of the trail is rocky, which makes foot placement important so you do not injure yourself.

Lots of opportunities for climbing around and going off path. Trail is sometimes unclear and you might go the wrong way a few times where it looks like the trail splits into a few different directions but you figure out pretty quickly that "oh this looks dangerous, there's no way this is it" and then you go back and go the other way. It's a fun bonding experience. Bring at least one person with a decent sense of direction just in case.

Great hike with my family had my 1 and 3 year old and made it up and down with relative ease took about 2.5 hours with both kids. I did a lot of the walking for both the kids haha but overall was great.

This was a nice hike it's basically vertical. I believe it's 1.8 mi oneway. Very rocky but at the top you can get great views of the area.

Super challenging, but super worth it! Pretty diverse terrain and can be dangerous if you aren’t adequately prepared. Safe hiking, friends.

Hiked this at sundown in late August and this is perfect way to end a day filled with sitting in conference rooms. Took about 45 minutes to get to the top. That includes losing the trail a couple of times. We would have like to spend more time bouldering around the summit but with no moon and a shaky feel for the trail back decided to cut our time on top short. It was a about a 20 minute trip back to the parking lot with about 80% of it on the trail. Great view, experience and even a bit of a workout. Highly recommend. Especially, if you have kids that like to climb on rocks. Just keep an eye out for snakes. Didn't see any but I'm sure they saw us.
