Truly amazing and impressive museum. Good flow through displays, which are handicap accessible. Absolutely LOVED the video recordings and the Warriors displays. Staff was very-very welcoming, but with it being towards the end of the day- they started getting a little unprofessional with their jokes and behavior. Construction is currently happening for the hotel/resort next door, but the driveway and parking lot are easy to navigate. I definitely needed longer than 2hrs to fully appreciate the care that went into this facility.

Absolutely worth a visit, this is a well done museum that is chock full of beautiful displays and information of the 39 nations that ended up in what is present day Oklahoma. Along with histories of the indigenous populations that were here long before America was “discovered”. I was a bit short on time, spent 1.5 hours and could’ve used a bit more. Hope to return someday.

Fabulous time with the Baby Boomers Gals at First Americans Museum. Had lunch at the Thirty Nine restaurant there, which turned out to be a true delight. Then we were taken on a guided tour of the museum by two ladies, each from one of the thirty- nine tribes who settled in Oklahoma from the trail of tears. It was a very informative time, wish we could have had more time to spend there to soak up more about the First Americans. I highly recommend a visit or more to this very special place to learn more about our American history.

Haven't had this comparatively moving experience since visiting the Underground Railroad Museum in Cincinnati. The traversing through FAM is an exercise in history tracing the many First Americans who began and cared for this country. The breadth of their culture and way of life is awesome inspiration and brings necessary light to the real truth behind their origins and the imposition of the settlers and travesty of the US government that sought to end their existence.

In for the holidays and finally had the opportunity to visit this newish Museum. Growing up in Oklahoma, First American culture was always around but there is so much we were not aware of as kids.

The museum is educational and informative. There are interactive elements as well as films to view. I would recommend at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours to fully experience it.

It was not crowded when came but they were setting up the event for the winter solstice which we couldn’t stay for. As we were leaving more people were arriving.

Definitely worth a visit if you are in the OKC area.

What an amazing museum!! My husband and I spent a couple of hours here and still did not see everything. There is a lot to read and see!
Some exhibits are not for children but there are so many interactive exhibits for children. So much history here, filled with sadness, hope and perseverance!

I am really really glad that I was able to visit this wonderful museum. It is beautiful outside and in and contains so much to see and explore! I spent time and money to get a second minor in university to get it in Cultural Anthropology because I am fascinated in people (Psych major English minor) so That is ready I personally really enjoy learning about every single one of us. Always have since a little child!

This is a great place to experience the historical narratives of First Americans. It was refreshing to hear and see the exhibits. It didn't feel super whitewashed! The one takeaway was the lack of diverse voices from black natives. I understand that the voices and stories were very central to the region, but all the natives were not red or light. There were a whole lot of brown and black people slaughtered and abused at the hands of the white man. That would be the critique that I would offer. Historical representation truly matters, and I time those voices and stories will get represented.

The First Americans Museum is a BEAUTIFUL new structure with an all-Indigenous curatorial staff. The way they preserve, display, and interpret their objects has some distinct differences from the Euro-centric model of traditional museology, and it is so worth the visit!

It is well worth checking into their offer for personal tours at/after 1 pm included with your admission price. Having an Indigenous tribal member lead a tour of their objects, culture, and exhibits is truly an enriching experience that offers a perspective other than your own.

If the museum isn't going to get you up there, then maybe the Chickasaw Resort and indoor/outdoor waterpark, slated for opening in 2025, will provoke you. 😁

If you’re a history head. You’ll love this place. I love the architecture of this building!! My family has been researching our Native American heritage and to be here was much more valuable and necessary! If you haven’t gone, I suggest it!

The Tribes of Oklahoma have put together a world class facility in OKC. One that takes you on a journey through a history of heart break and broken promises, but does so in an interesting and educational manner.

Went for our first visit and it was fun. Easy to navigate. The walk to the top of the mound was really nice except for the high temperatures that day, but the view from the top of the river and city was worth it.
Got to see family members mentioned in the displays so that was nice.
My only complaint was access to beverages or vending machines of some sort. You have to go the bar to get a drink of any kind. So for a trip to the museum you have to visit a bar for a drink. I have never heard of a museum having a bar. As a former alcoholic this can be a little uncomfortable so just be prepared for that. I would suggest keeping drinks in a cooler in the car maybe.
Besides that we had a great time. I highly recommend everyone visit the museum to learn more about our Native heritage and tribes not only in this state but others as well.

"Can I touch your hair?" First Americans Museum (FAM) explores the Indian Territory experiences, atrocities, and how we can find the culture that has been lost.

This is one of the most important and powerful museums in our county. It displays in detail, the history of Native Americans being dispelled from their homes, and forced to move to Oklahoma. The museum details the lives and culture of the 39 Native American tribes. This museum is incredible.

This is the region’s exceptional experience for anyone seeking clarity and inspiration from the history of First Americans, providing an engaging chronological account from firsthand perspectives. Beautifully enhanced by Native art, artifacts, and knowledgeable docents. Try the unique menu in the full dining cafe; you won’t regret spending a full day here!

This place is AMAZING. we have been waiting for years for its completion and it was worth it. Every detail was thoroughly thought out. Everything was beautiful and informative.
We were able to enjoy live performances.
The fee for military is only $10. General public is $15 and less for children.
I would rate 10/10.
