GBA is a great environment with great people who helped me through so much. I came one person and left a year later a totally different person. I am forever in debt to my therapist Stacey Lambert who showed me that there is so much more to me then a depressed messed up teenage kid. Although it was hard for me to admit it just like it is for most kids I belonged there and found a home through the amazing people and experiences. I would recommend this school because they will truly invest and care for your child.

I have no idea who is writing these reviews. I can only assume former students because parents writing negative reviews normally provide detailed accounts of what they are unhappy with. These reviews do not contain that information. My daughter has been at this facility for 4 weeks today. Her therapist is a dream. She is 100% devoted and involved. I agree with one review - it's a therapeutic boarding school. It's not a day spa. Was my daughter happy to go? Not at all. Is she now 4 week later getting straight As in her last semester of high school and recognizing that she won't succeed beyond high school if she doesn't get a handle on her lack of boundaries - Absolutely! This school is very expensive so I promise you I would not praise the facility, the administration, the teachers and therapeutic support if I was not 100% satisfied.

As a parent, I'm very grateful for our experience at Greenbrier Academy for Girls and for what they did for our Daughter at a time in her life when she was struggling in so many ways. Poor decisions were quickly leading her down a very scary path. We are very grateful for the program, the skilled and experienced staff who guided her back on track while restoring her life, relationships with others as well as her parents peace of mind. The parent support program and family workshops provided us with tremendous support and encouragement throughout our entire experience,
Many Thanks GBA !!

My daughter has emerged from GBA with a strong sense of self, a confidence in her abilities, and enthusiasm for her future. She has a new understanding of her own values and of her own importance in the world. I'm sure she will have challenges in her life, but she has learned to face them head-on and get the help she needs. GBA has truly changed the course of her life and we are SO GRATEFUL!!!

I attended Greenbrier Academy for the 4 month program and after reading all the reviews, I believe it’s time somebody writes a truthful review. This is a THERAPEUTIC boarding school. It’s not a luxury vacation where you are treated like princesses. It’s a place to get better and personally, I believe I should’ve stayed longer at this program. It’s an amazing program and the place is only going to benefit you if you put in the work to get better. Taking advantage and trying to manipulate your way out is the reason why people get extended and come out complaining of not feeling better. The staff are not going to kiss your butt and sugar coat everything. They are very hard and blunt with you because they want you to see reality. Having your phone and worrying about school should be the least of your concerns, you’re there to focus strictly on your mental health, and I think a lot of girls miss that aspect. It’s not a perfect school, you have over 50 mentally ill girls stuck together for months, so yes there is going to be drama and situations happening on campus, but I believe Greenbrier handles every issue extremely well by following their policy rules. I believe parents send their kids here without doing their research on the website and policies. Yes, times get boring , but we aren’t there to have fun. I was fortunate enough to have an amazing therapist(although I wish she was more tough on me because I acted like a spoiled brat a lot) who always put effort into helping me and all the young women in my group. The one issue I have is that parents need to put the same amount of effort as their kids. There is no point in sending your daughter here if you aren’t willing to put the same work in to help. Overall, I 100% agree that Greenbrier is very influential and a helpful place for young women struggling, and I am very happy with my experience there and success with life afterwards.

I grew to loving my stay at Greenbrier. The few weeks were hard but eventually I woke up everyday Happy and feeling loved by my community at GBA. Dianna and Mike are the best!! If you get a chance to work with them, you are blessed. At greenbrier, you truly get what you put into it. I truly loved my stay there, especially towards the end when I built strong, secure, and deep relationships with the staff and my peers.

Greenbrier provided an amazing environment for change for my troubled teenage daughter. So many positive changes have occored. I was thrilled with the amazing councelors and staff and the owner Jay. Greenbrier takes a personal interest in the health and wellbeing of the girls and their families.

I absolutely loved GBA, it was the scariest and most horrible thing I've ever done, but as time goes by u make friends and alliances u never would think u would have 💗 after GBA my life felt fixed and fulfilled! But it's only a temporary fix. U cant get better unless u want to. If I could I would stay for the rest of my life. Again, temporary fix.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I went to GBA for 2 years between the years of 2012-2014. I was in a unique situation because I entered the school in 8th grade, which should not have been allowed. There were some good people, I honestly loved the most RAs. Without them, the school would not be functioning. I, like many other GBA girls went on to another boarding school after GBA; so in my personal opinion, if you’re thinking about sending your child to GBA, don’t. I would seriously consider sending them to another boarding school since most boarding schools are very structured and scheduled. I have been receiving therapy after GBA to treat the PTSD & Boarding School Syndrome I have from the school. I'm unsure if they've changed their policy but on weekends, girls were only allowed to talk to their families for five minutes and they had to be monitored the entire time, so if you expect to be in touch with your daughter, think again. The only feature worth that helped from this school is Village with Paul. To Terry Smith, the reason for the negative reviews stem from the students experiences at this facility.

I was a past student at Greenbrier and coming out of the woods i did think the school was very good but after being there for 8 months and it being my 7th treatment center and it was the worst out of all, the teachers didnt seem to conect with many of the kids or they would push their problems to the side if it interferes with what their doing, the new staff they got in the last few months dont seem qualified to work with us they were very disrespectful at times and although there was some great staff theres only about 5 good ones left so its a very bad combo and the treatment center treats kids like were in a behavioral facility with the way they handle situations, the therapists dont work with the clients and will cancel meetings and avoid the kids if they dont want to do sessions. The students are out of control and instead of trying to work with the students to find out how to help them and make everyone come together they just put up cameras and make things strict and take everything away. I personally dont recomend wasting money on sending your child here because ive bearly seen people come out and be as you would call "normal" I stayed in my bed and didnt go anywhere for over a month till i convinced the staff to send me to another center

worst place to send you’re children. if you want youf children to come back worse, with more trauma, with more physical marks, etc send them here. its torture and the truth is coming out. they do NOTHING if you report SA, they use your triggers against you. they belittle you and treat the children HORRIBLE. screw you guys. do better. the truth is coming out just remember that.

Very unprofessional staff. They are not properly trained for the students they are taking in and often neglect their needs. GBA wants your money, they don't care about your child.

Therapists are great! The owner was terrible, she was self centered and obnoxious.
