We absolutely loved the New River Gorge National Park! We missed “Bridge Day” by a single day, but it was a wonderful park nonetheless. The first of many amazing views can be found directly out the back door of the visitors center and has some information on the gorge there.

A short walk from the front of the visitors center you can see the longest arch bridge in the western hemisphere! You can also walk down the stairs to see the bridge from below, and though it’s a lot of stairs, I highly recommend!

If you’re able, a nice hike on the Endless Wall trail is a treat with wonderful views of the gorge and river below. Watch your step and please look out below for rock climbers! Don’t throw things off the wall.

The Sandstone Falls are at the other end of the park and are the largest falls on the New River, they are wonderful to explore just keep in mind the rocks near the falls are very slippery.

Have fun! What a beautiful park. <3

Absolutely majestic! Worth stopping or visiting any time of year, but we were blessed enough to be passing through in the magic of fall time in The Alleghenies of Appalachian Mountains. One of the oldest Rivers in the Northern Hampshire and pretty much the 🌎. Photos speak for themselves!

We got to go play in the Snow!! What better time to visit this absolutely beautiful gorge of the New River in the W Virginia mountains!! After crossing The N R Bridge we drove a mostly one way road down to the bottom of the gorge where there's a car bridge across the river and back up the other side. The visitor center is highly recommended for a visit conveniently located at the bridge over looks. Just amazing what human engineering can accomplish!!

Amazing views, tons of history and very cool drive into the canyon. You can take a quick walk to the scenic overlook, check out the visitors center and drive into the canyon + guided tour in about an hour.

Don't miss this newest national park!

A quick stop off the highway to see the bridge. The snow was deep enough to be a little treacherous on the trails. Not that people didn't try. Please respect signs that say do not enter. This is how tourists get hurt.

Roads were clear and parking was available. We did not go into the visitor center.

Such an awesome National Park. Everyone that has the opportunity to experience the beauty of this place should do so. The location might be a journey from bigger metro cities, but believe me when I say that the pleasure is well with it. Make sure to stop at the main visitor center near the bridge to find about everything available and speak to some Park Rangers if you have any questions. Don't skip the 40 minute roundtrip excursion down and up the gorge via your car to see the bridge and gorge from the bottom!! It is all along a one-way street and the place is slow and leisurely. Take your time!!

So much more than the bridge, although that is an incredible piece of engineering as the 3rd highest bridge in the USA; measuring 3,032' in length and 876' above the river below. (You can walk the length on a catwalk below the roadway which is an incredible experience) The river below is walled by mountains and is famed as an excellent white water rafting destination. All of this is within such a beautiful national park

What a gem! Well worth taking time to explore and hike around. The visitor center was closed when we were there but it looked beautiful from the outside. I personally would love to learn more! We did take the scenic drive as suggested on maps and we were delighted.

A lovely place to visit in the fall. There are several entrances, but the one near Fayetteville provides best viewing opportunities. Other entrances have historical sites. Best thing to do is to take the Fayette Station Road which winds its way into the gorge and far below the new bridge. You can cross the river at the old bridge and then wind your way back up the other side. Spectacular views. You can download a stop by stop description to use while driving too. The river below is kayak and paddleboard accessible.

This park was on the list to visit since I first heard of it on the list to become one. I recommend at least 2 days to get a feel for the parks offerings. You could plan a multi-day trip here. In addition to the beautiful and foto worthy nature is the marvel of engineering bridge. It's hard to believe humans made the New River Gorge Bridge?! If you are a waterfall lover come doing pleasant weather and get close. The park store has a nice selection of mementos and even includes local artist. I appreciate that as it helps local economy for artists. We want to return for 3-4 jaunt as there was no way to enjoy all the trails we learned about, had to choose!

Added another stamp to the NP book! Beautiful stop with RV parking. The visitor center and overlooks are beautifully done and easily accessible. There is even for the adventurous a walkway under the roadway to cross.

Haven't stopped thinking about this place since I went with my mom for spring break. The park staff are delightful and even though it rained and was a bit cold when we went, it was totally worth it. There's a huge range of trails, views, and things to do here. Can't wait to go again!

Beautiful park. Long Point Trail and Endless Wall Trail was a fairly easy hike, but the views you get from them are irreplaceable. The town has a bunch of great food stops, and there's a Bridge Walk tour that'll take you into the catwalk under the bridge. Loved this place and we are excited to see it again. Get your National Park passport, and get it stamped!

Beautiful area. The drive to the bridge was awesome. The visitor center was great. Would have loved to do the bridge walk but it was booked up for the day. The bridge you can drive over to cross the river seems questionable. Although it’s fine it sounded like we were tearing it out as we drove over. We were not going that fast. We parked and walked back to the little bridge. It appears to be made out of all 2x4’s. Cool bridge.

Super cool bridge. Make sure to go down the steps of the boardwalk (164 steps, though) for a better view.

The visitor center is also worth a look. We found the 11-min intro video (plays on the half hour) very informative/interesting.

Short walk and wheel chair accessible to breathtaking views and sounds of water falls flowing over river rocks. A beautiful place to visit.

We kind of stumbled upon this place on a weekend getaway. Such a beautiful spot. Very clean, great people, Stunning views. An added plus is there is an observation deck that is easily accessible for mobility-challenged people, in addition to an observation deck with a walk down a few flights of stairs below. Both are gorgeous! You can take a nice drive down through the Gorge... about a 45-minute drive. There is a lot to do in the area, rafting, hiking, fishing, camping, and catwalk tours on the bridge. Can't wait to go back and do some camping and spend some more time to enjoy all of the adventures.

This was such an amazing thing to see! It’s soooo beautiful here and this huge feat of engineering is AWESOME! There’s some hiking and water sports, or you can just chill and take in the scenery!! Simply AMAZING!

I was pleasantly surprised after our visit. The park has a lot to do, and although it does not have the "wow" levels of other national parks, its scenery is still gorgeous.

With mine towns, white water rafting, and a pleathroa of hiking trails, one could easily spend weeks here. What a great representation of West Virginia and an amazing addition to the national park lineup.
