Great Lakes Family Restaurant

I almost went to the truck stop next door for dinner. As an owner operator I try to support small business. As I pulled into the truck stop I made note of the cheaper fuel. The fuel next door matches the price of the fuelman truck stop in Perrysburgh, OH.

When I got to the back of the parking lot of the truck stop I noticed signs everywhere indicating $10 to park. For me that was an instant turn off. They lost both my fuel purchase and restaurant patronage. I’m so sick of businesses nickel and diming is truckers. I turned around and was heading for for the interstate.

As I was turning I noticed a few trucks behind another building. Looked like a restaurant so I decided since they didn’t appear to be greedy pukes and they allowed trucks to park I would go enjoy a meal and support their business.

I walked in and was instantly greeted by three staff. My servers name was Egla. She was bubbly and attentive to my needs. I asked her for her recommendation and she suggested the Chicken Parm. So I ordered that.

I was served enough food to feed three adults. I’m not sure the picture will bring justice to the portion sizes but I emphasize three could eat on one order of chicken parm.

This is not a five star restaurant. It is a small diner with happy and helpful staff. If you’re traveling or trucking and want an honest meal for an honest buck give this place a chance.

I’m glad I stopped. The girls are cute, friendly and do not forget to check on you. These ladies truly appreciate our hard earned dollars.

We just found our place to eat!!

It is the best restaurant we have ever ate at. The prices are very good and the food is fantastic, if you go away hungry then it’s your own fault. I order creat your own omelette and the cook is right on with it!!!!!! Everyone we have to take a trip I. That direction we make a point to stop there and eat. The service is perfect, very friendly and even with a mask on you can tell they are smiling!!!! My husband ordered ham on the side and got 6 pieces of ham on the plate and he said it was great!!!! We live an hour and half away and it is worth it!!!!

The place to go, the food was amazing and the people were very nice and friendly. Good job. We came in a little before closing time and they put out a spread for our family. Thank you. Will definitely be back!

We decided to come here before I had to go to work for the night. My hope was to get something I'd be able to eat around 1am. I got the the Alfredo. Not only did I have enough for that night but I also had enough the next night! Their prices are very reasonable , food is delicious and I believe our waitresses name was Madeline(I'm sorry if I am wrong) she was so great. (I usually try to write my reviews immediately but it's been a couple weeks :( 😞

Love this place. My order is always correct and the staff is very kind. Good family atmosphere. My father in law goes to restaurants every day and he's a critic. He likes to go to this one on the weekend with us. Good prices and quantity of food.
Mixed vegetables need a lot of help though. A lot of help. Lol
I like this place better than Fowlerville farms. We stopped going there because they hire teenagers that don't know what they're doing. And things ALWAYS get messed up with the few exceptions of the great waitresses that they have. It's a gamble going to Fowlerville farms. But it's never a gamble going to great lakes restaurant.

I like a variety of breakfast foods and when I can get most of them in one order makes me happy! Eggs over medium, perfectly cooked, bacon crisp and very tasty, 2 huge pancakes fluffy and hot, sausage links nicely browned, and on the side some very good rye toast that tasted like rye! Everyone at the table also enjoyed their breakfast! Breakfast burrito, biscuit and gravy, omlette all very good! look forward to eating here again when I am in the area! Service was excellent.

This restaurant is great!! Travel from grand rapids to Maryland and an arbor often. Can not beat the best food, BEST prices and service. Used to eat at place next door, great lakes is by far the best! Think we missed out on it for a few years because it wasn't noticeable from the road. Hope it stays In business! Great food and large portions!

We've never had a bad meal here. Omelettes are big and full of meats and cheeses. I challenge you to find a burger as good as they have here, even a fancy "burger joint". Staff is friendly and the cooks know what they're doing. Nice atmosphere too.

My name is David; they don't know me at the restaurant. We were looking for an early breakfast on a Saturday and thankfully we found this one.
Super-nice super-fast waitress brought us our omelette (my sweetie and I share one, as I tend to over-eat and it makes me tired and cranky), toast, and gravy on separate plates, which we thought was above and beyond. Their country omelette was hot, cheesy, huge, and tasty!
We will definitely come back - thanks for a great breakfast!

Great food. Went in after a long day on the road. Great prices too. Service was pretty good too. 4 3/4 stars. Could have used a little more coffee. Ha ha but overall excellent.

Delicious food for sure. Had the Chicken Parm...highly recommend. They do need a couple more servers though as it did take a bit for Egla to get our order. She was great and worked hard!

First time eating here and let's just say we will be back! Waitress was so friendly. We ordered breakfast and OMG that was amazing. So much food you couldn't finish it. Highly recommend the omelets.

Was a former Big Boy, while the decor is pretty out dated and run down, I came for the food as I was told by a friend they had good food and generous portions. Right on both accounts! I will go back again and see if they are consistent in their quality!

Great food, good atmosphere! Good sized portions. Excellent customer service. Will definitely eat here again when we come back to the area. My husband and I were very pleased with this choice in restaurant.

The food is great the service is great all around an amazing experience. If I lived closer I would spend all of my breakfast here. Not to mention the owner Eddie is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Dropped in for lunch and had a hot bowl of beef barley soup, and a grilled cheese. At my waitress, Kennedy's, suggestion I chose the apple pie for dessert.
Nice finish to a nice meal.
Kennedy is one to ask for, even though Great Lakes hires very pleasant people, she is certainly a keeper.

The best breakfast anywhere and the best price. Three egg omelette with tons of hash browns. I could only eat half and never got to my toast. Delicious to say the least. Friendly staff and constant refills on the coffee.

Been staying in Howell temporarily and glad I found this gem! Food is really good and can tell it’s fresh and homemade. Prices are very reasonable and staff are friendly.
