Despina's Mediterranean Taste

This is the most consistently perfect quality 'fast food' (order from counter, then your food is prepared fresh) I've ever had! I've been there about 10 times and the gyro has been perfect every single time! Somehow, their pita bread tastes like it was just made each time I get it!

High prices ($12 - $13 for an incredible gyro & baby salad, no drink) were easier to pay when Despina's was on Hawley Street. That was a beautiful restaurant! Now they moved to Main St (nice clean place but smaller and more 'historical' interior) to a place that looks like it's about half the rent, but same high prices came with them.

The food is WELL worth the 'high' price. It just means I go there a few times per year instead of a few times per month.

AMAZING!! The lamb gyro was great, the buttermilk pie was great, but the grape leaves were just okay. What are they filled with? I never got to ask. Will come again!!

Great spinach salad! Plenty to share. Lamb gyro was also quite tasty. Very clean facilities.

Despina's is an authentic Greek restaurant that serves the best homemade hummus, tabouli, gyros, baklava and buttermilk pie and much more! The food is to die for! Even more importantly, this restaurant's level of service to the Binghamton community is outstanding. The owner, Despina and her family strive to treat everyone like family!

Chicken Souvlaki is past 5 stars, there’s really not anything you can get here that isn’t authentic & fantastic. John & Bruno were extremely personable, genuine & made guests feel welcome, checking in often.

Absolutely love there salads. What makes a salad? For me it's all about thedressing. And nothing beats a house made dressing. And despinas is so flavorful with herbs and spices and the right amount of zest.

Despina the restaurant and Despina the owner/ cook are top notch. Fresh salads full of flavor and a gyro that is the best. Homemade Greek food with fresh ingredients. 5 stars!

If I could have food from Despina's every day for the rest of my life, I would die happy. Every time I get food from here, it is consistently high quality and very flavorful. Hummus and pita just don't taste the same if I have it from anywhere else. With my favorite places to eat, there is always a (usually rare) occasion where the food or service is lacking--that's just how it is sometimes--but I've never had that happen with Despina's. I hope you stay in business forever.

They never disappoint, no matter what you order. Homemade dressing and only the best ingredients. Just pure perfection!

And let’s not forget the surprise of potato salad at the bottom of your salad.

Very wonderful decor and atmosphere! The food seems to be made with love, which is suitable but rarely found even in family restaurants such as these. The owner is clearly proud of her quality food, quality service, and you can occasionally overhear the pride and love she has for her grandchildren who work there as well. This is personally my favorite aspect as it almost makes you feel like being at your own grandma's house.

Really welcoming and friendly restaurant. The staff are really nice and they help you to find something really good to eat if you're not familiar with Mediterranean food. I've been here a few times and went out on a limb trying some things that were new and really enjoyed them. It's not the most inexpensive place to eat but it's hard to find Mediterranean food in the area and I feel like this is a really good balance between quality and price. You can grab a quick gyro and a drink and go for a walk down Washington Street to explore downtown a little bit, it's pretty nice on a warmer day.

Went in for the first time with my best friend, and we both were amazed by the options they had on the menu. They had awesome drinks (juices, coffee, iced coffees), and the chicken Caesar pita was amazing! The potato salad was fresh and delicious as well. I'll definitely be going back again!

Fast, warm, no frills, just good food. The chicken on my Greek salad was moist, perfectly spiced, warm. The tomatoes were bright, the dressing just right. A neighborhood gem.

I love this place! Excellent, counter service, food. Great, friendly service. A very nice design inside. Not sure what they do to the pita bread before serving but I've had about 7 gyros here and each time the pita has been better than any I've ever had elsewhere! A bit on the pricey side. Gyro and a Greek salad (with add-on potato salad burried under salad) including tax is $13 (even with no drink); and that is a "special". The only non-wonderful thing about this place is that they supply music to the large room from the default speaker in a single tv. Not terrible; just not in keeping with how classy EVERYTHING else about this place is. Remote speakers would go a long way.

This place is great! I hated Greek food until I discovered this place, they totally reversed my opinion on Greek food. The burgers is delicious. And the customer service is phenomenal. I definitely give this place 2 thumbs up. I can’t think of one bad thing to say about this place even if I tried. Literally everything on the menu taste fantastic!

Family feel restaurant where almost everything is home made. House salad dressing is incredible. Spanakopita was the best I’ve ever had. They have a homemade beef mixture to place in their Euro and paired with the air baked fries was a home run. To top it all off at the end of diner they brought out a free whoopie pie for our table. We bought 3 more because they were amazing! Great experience and wonderful pricing.

Great upbeat Sunny atmosphere it's a seat yourself after order at the counter Greek food that is fantastic. Corner seating for large groups. great for lunch you can spend between $7 and $10 and get a lot of food! Their hummus is perfect!

One of my go to places for clean and healthy food in Binghamton. The portion of the food and quality of the food had always been 5/5. Also try Despina’s dessert options, she makes exceptional baklava , pies and other Greek desserts. They have a very friendly staff and totally run by family. They also have good number of vegan and vegetarian option.
