J-Mart Japanese/Asian Grocery Store

Great food. It was beautifully presented and there was plenty of it. I'm happy to discover this little gem and I hear they're moving to downtown Sparta 142 N Water St I'm excited to see what they do at the place!

Great little place with a good selection. Coming from Oklahoma City with 4 major markets of this kind, I've been spoiled but JMart is off to a good start. I'm glad to have a store like this at all in little ol Sparta.
I reckon the drinks and snacks are a big hit with the local youth, I hope that they'll add more meal staples to the shelves someday. The Raman selection is solid though. Obviously, the square footage of the store limits what they can do, but I'm hopeful that JMart will expand like the Super Mercado Oaxaca did and that Spartas palette will follow suit.
I'm so glad that I don't have to go all the way to La Crosse/Onalaska for my Shrimp Chips and Jinro! I love that they have gatcha machines too.

They have a great selection of items especially the ramen, though I didn't get any this round. I'm crossing my fingers they'll get in more boba tapioca packs soon but the instant boba boxes are adorable and will tide me over 😉. Went on a Sunday so it was pretty quiet which I like, with cute cooking anime playing. Super happy with my purchases and definitely will be back to explore and try more. 👍👍

So freaking good!!! Great service, authentic Japanese food. The beef bulgogi was on point. Definitely recommended

After hearing from a friend about this place and recently moving back to the states after living in Okinawa for 2 years, this was a nice surprise. Owners are 2 brothers of Japanese heritage, 1 caring for the store and the other for the diner attached. We went the one day the diner was closed, Sunday. Brian, the owner of the mart was friendly and helpful. An unassuming small market with a wonderful variety of familiar and favorites when living in Japan. Will definitely go back and on a day when the diner is open as well.

Staff were super friendly! I think I may have found my favorite KitKat flavor (Melon)! It was reasonably priced for about $4 a bag while Amazon is selling them for $13 a bag… Oh and there’s a cash discount. I never have cash on me but this time I did.

Nice Asian store in the middle of no where Wisconsin! Great variety of items and very nice and helpful worker/cashier.

Fun store to visit. Found some items that I haven't had since I was a small child and we were living in Okinawa.
Will for sure go here again.

Out of all the places in Wisconsin. Great two brothers located in Sparta! A hidden gem an Asian, but mostly Japanese, market in Wisconsin. Good guys and ladies. Surprised by the number selections in Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese stuff. A large selection is quite nice. If you live in the area, if you have not been I highly recommend.

Best Sushi ever and noodle bowls absolutely delicious and fresh. Nice selection of special foods. We will keep going back.

One of a kind for this area!! I’m always looking for a location with Asian food and I was so excited to find this store. They had just about everything I wanted from Kewpie to Eel sauce. A couple of my favorite candies as well! My only wish is that the store was bigger and carried more frozen items.

Great customer service! The people there are personable and help you with a smile. My first time experience brought back vivid memories from my trip to Japan, with access to small treats like doryaki and natto (for those who like natto)! They have been in that location for less than a year and I hope it can meet all your asian-esk meals to be there for a long time! Oh also.. shout out to their cooks in their restaurant. They were very sweet too. Two thumbs up all around.

I love this place so much I moved up here when they were still in their other location I've been going there since it is one of my favorite markets to go to they so many Asian ingredients that you need to create Asian food I was also told by the owner and the chef that they used to work at Disney world Japan pavilion so you know they're legit. love them so much

So thankful to have found this shop! So many things here that I had been unable to find elsewhere. Amazing selection, and now has a chef who makes fresh dishes! Staff is also amazing and helpful. Highly recommend! It is a must stop and has become one of my favorite stores.

I had the Gyudon - beef and onion rice bowl. Super good. Best beef, onions soft, and precise sauce quantity. Best filling meal price in town.

This place is amazing! Great service and hours. Amazing selection. Ajs in the back is my favorite lunch spot. I recommend the crab Rangoon rolls if you aren't really a sushi person.

Updated review in August of 2022: they now have ramen and it's sooooo good. Noodles were perfect, stock was perfect, roast pork was really good and all of the other things ramen should have were present. The store is great. It's always been great, but now there's an actually good place to get ramen.

As I mentioned, I had tonkatsu, but I'm super excited to have the other kinds.
