I love this park! I come here primarily to hike and walk the trails with my dog. Nice hiking trails in the woods for anyone in the Fox Cities area who wants to be in nature, but not drive far to get there. Some of the trails in the woods do have gravel, inclines, and stairs. If you are looking for paved surfaces, head to the Heritage Parkway Trail & Nelson Family Heritage Crossing Trail. They are located by walking over a small bridge connected to Heesakker. There are restrooms at the park itself, as well as a playground. On the paved trails, there are port-a-potties available for use in certain areas on the trail. I love that there are pet waste bags available throughout the trails. Absolutely gorgeous in the Fall! Almost always see wildlife of all kinds while walking.

Best part about this park is the location. Access to playground, large field, pavilion, hiking, and kayaking all close by. Trails connect Heesakker to Island Park and Kaukauna with great views of the Fox River.

It's beautiful here. There's a few trails through the park/woods. It also connects you to the Heritage Parkway trail which is a nice paved trail along the fox River. I also have seen it called the Island River trail so not sure which one is correct but it's a good trail for family or a solo walk. Beautiful views on the bridge and along the trail. Also has a playground area for kids to play at.

We came here for a photo shoot. There were many options. It was my first time here, and we will be returning to explore more of the park!

Looked for owls nesting, but found none. Great horned were there last year. Still a great place for a walk. Plenty to see along the river and the bike path is really nice.

Cute little park and wonderful walking trails. Generally not busy when I've gone. Great place to let the kids burn some energy.

Edit: My last visit to the park on Aug. 10, 2023 I observed the tree that the owls would frequent half of it fell down along with their home.
Very clean and peaceful park. Plenty of benches to rest and take in the beauty.

This is such a nice park, tucked away by the river in Little Chute. There are many trails for biking and walking. On any given day you may be welcomed by some of the local deer, and you can get fairly close to see them. There is a bridge that takes you over to the island where there are additional trails and a working lock. If you are big into nature but don’t want to travel out of your way this is a great local spot.

The trails there are awesome! I'd imagine it would be pretty buggy in the summer so probably best to go early summer.

Very nice park with a very cool trail. I took my dogs here and it had some great scenery. There was some beautiful autumn colors along the trails. Worth the trip from Oshkosh.

The trails are paved, easy to find, plus dog friendly. Fresh air leading to Kaukauna via boardwalk to the east.
Heading to the west takes you to the Island along the canal . Eagles, pelicans, ducks to entertain your surroundings.

A nice large park with light hiking trails, amazing bird watching & playground with restrooms. The true perk to this park is that it leads to a paved trail down near the river. Parking lot is small but works, never to crowded here, otherwise parking on street is allowed. Lots of people use the trail for dog walking, biking, & fishing. Could easily spend an hour at this park & not even realize.
