El Cortez Theater

Watching another film fest is wonderful in this quaint movie theater.

Great place to see recent movies, I like the history of the theater, the interior is great with movie posters and history, prices are very reasonable for both movies and concessions, be careful going to bathroom, needs a railing to prevent falls, the introduction of the movie is great , thank you for preserving the history , hope to be back soon !

Famous site of the 2024 TorC beard competition where Gretta and other judges mistakenly awarded the wrong winner. Lee won and the judges didn't know how to correct it. If you don't believe it ask Gretta. Lee was robbed.

Nice small town theatre with decently comfortable seats. Cheap tickets and cheap snacks! Good sound quality and image quality.

Beautiful and historic theater with all kinds of events recently. I really enjoy coming in here, and plan to go as often as I can.

Had a memorable Halloween party, and I met the entire T or C group of cool people! 😎 we had a great time, good pulled pork with coleslaw. The band and DJ were jamming.

This is a very cute Theater! The staff was super nice folks! I plan to go there more often. The staff gave our community a Christmas event that was so fun and it really made everyone feel happy! They are awesome people! 🥰

Great movie theater. Loved the sound for such a small theater. Old school theater which gives it an ambiance of the good old days. Very retro. The new owners have done a great job of restoration! ❤✌

If you're in T or C, it's your only option. That's not a knock on this place. It's super awesome to watch a movie in. They only show one movie at a time but let's not dwell on that. It's historic and the atmosphere just blew me away. The (only) showing room looks like an old play theater and I just can't express how much I loved that. I spent the 10 minutes before the movie just thoroughly enjoying my surroundings. When the movie starts - no complaints about picture or sound. Only forewarning: Cash only, but there is a debt-free atm across the street.

We went to see Midway. I heard it was really cold in there so I wore thermals under my jeans, snow boots, gloves, 2 sweaters, a coat and brought a blanket. Not cold at all!! It was charming!! I've always thought the outside was really cool - so old school! Now I know how neat the experience is inside!! We'll be back!!

For $6 to see a new release is impressive. The gentlemen that helped me was very nice and even though the theater is old the seats are very nice. The sound quality and picture was great. I wouldn't hesitate to see another movie here if I was in the area again.

Great prices, nice staff! We sat in the front row (on purpose) and had a GREAT experience. Definitely will return!

I hate going to movies. BUT, the El Cortez is not about the movie. From the moment I walk into a historic old time movie house, the smell of the popcorn, the wide cushiony seats, the cute little kids introducing the movie I enjoy the experience. I even enjoy the local advertisements that are run before the picture. Locally owned is another plus. And you can't beat the prices. It's awesome.

Always a fun and entertaining experience! Seats are comfortable and love the personal touch they provide! Great popcorn too!
