Was hoping they had somewhere to eat in Hillsboro, had no idea this place was there. So cool. Staff was great, the place was great and my meal was excellent. Vanilla malt, fresh hand-cut fries, and a great Burger. So glad I came across this establishment. Stop if you get the chance, you will enjoy it.

Update: Tried the burgers for lunch and it was good. I also tried their pies, also very good. Still recommend eating here.
Great breakfast and service. I was impressed with the quality of food. I am returning the next day to try lunch. I recommend a visit to this restaurant.

This is the only place to spend any money in Hillsboro.
They are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 8am to 3pm. That is your only option. There are no gas stations or stores of any kind. Plan accordingly.

Having said that, HGS is charming and authentic. The artwork on the wall is part of the history of the cafe and the town, and so are the people in it. This place is a must-stop if you are traveling on Route 152.

What a great find! We had the Green Chile Bacon Grilled Cheese and Nachos Supreme. Both were delicious. Save room for a piece of their bumbleberry pie! It is amazing. Nothing fancy, but good food done right!

Stumbled on to this gem of a small town restaurant.
It was full of local people and I got to chat with the caretaker of the church across the street. The people running the place were friendly and very efficient. The food was great! The decor was remnants of when it used to be a General Store - nicely preserved.

The food was great. I would say it was above standard for NM cuisine. But most of all the staff were incredibly friendly. As of 2/21/21 they are at 50% capacity dine-in inside, and full capacity on deck (2 2-seat tables and 1 4-seat table).

Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Dierdre, serves up delicious and varied food as well as entertaining information and enjoyable conversation. New Mexican dishes at their finest. The walls are a treasure trove of art, memorabilia, and history. A pleasant find after driving through the Gila National Forest.

Charming little restaurant in the middle of an old mining town. The service was personal since there were not that many seats.

The burger I got was pretty well seasoned; a bit messy to eat but tasty. The fries were clearly homemade and crispy. I think it's well worth a visit just due to the decor alone.

Excellent small restaurant serving classic diner and New Mexican food in 19th century historic digs.

We stopped here for lunch and was a nice little cafe. The owner/waitress was very nice and put up with my children being a nuisance.

The food was good too. I had a burrito and my wife a burger. The fries were homemade.

The place is off the beaten path but if you're in the neighborhood check it out.

I like to eat the green chile cheeseburger with french fries and lots of ketchup. My mother likes to eat the different kinds of Mexican foods there, and she always says that she loves the taste and texture. It's nice to know that you can keep going back there to have a good meal and make your life more happier.

What a great slice of western history with delicious fresh-made food, memorabilia on the walls and items for sale. Always busy, but worth the wait!

Business is for sale if you're looking!

Food was excellent with some surprising flavor profiles one would not expect in the local setting. Staff was very friendly. Considering how busy they were the food came out timely and hot.

This place was neat. An old building converted several times into what is now a cafe and trinkets/books/tourist store. All the staff was very nice. Special weekend menu.
