Flour Bakery + Cafe

Happily reporting a great experience at another Joanne Chang establishment! Flour has one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches in the Seaport (the Breakfast Egg Sandwich with bacon or ham as my preference, but you can also get it with sausage) and I love their french toast, which is a thicker french toast and it's amazing. I'm trying to show restraint, but I definitely want to taste all of the bakery items they have...

As an update, I’ve also tried their brown butter cinnamon roll which is 10/10. I love their banana bread too because it’s super moist and dense, but not heavy.

All you knead is love! I totally felt the love and passion put into Flour Bakery + Cafe, from the interior design, the overall atmosphere, and staff members. The staff were so knowledgeable off their products and were able to give me recommendations on what to try too! (Hint: you can’t go wrong on what you pick).

I was only in Boston for three days, and yes, I stopped in every day of my visit. I love a good bakery and Flour Bakery is hands down one of the BEST bakery’s I’ve been too. I tried several things (see pictures). Everything tasted spectacular. Thank you Flour Bakery for all the deliciousness and such a wonderful experience during my visit in Boston.

I ate the Smoked Carrot Hummus sandwich which was on special. It was probably the weirdest sandwich I've ever had, but in a good way! Such a unique flavor combination. I love that the menu is clearly marked for dietary restrictions, including vegan and dairy free options.

Arguably the best bakery in Boston! The lemon raspberry cake is sublime! I ordered a 10” for my daughter’s birthday and she saved me a slice. The frosting was outrageous, but the best part was the Keylime tasting curd combined with the fresh raspberry, Yum

Great place. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, great tea, and excellent pastries. What more could you ask for?

Flour Bakery in Boston has become my go-to spot whenever I'm in the city, and their brunch menu is one of the best in town. This time, I tried the shrimp caesar salad and roast beef sandwich. The salad was a good combination of crisp romaine lettuce, tender shrimp, and a flavorful dressing that hit all the right notes. The roast beef sandwich was a savory treat. I usually get the sticky bun for dessert, but this time I tried the Boston cream pie, and it was very moist and super good! I also got to see Joanne Chang (owner of the bakery) working in the kitchen and interacting with guests this time! Overall great experience

Barista was very helpful, kind and patient.

Lucked out and got the last slice of Boston cream pie of the day.

Custard was very creamy and fluffy. The chocolate ganache on top was silky.
Definitely recommend!

The banana bread is legit... Good coffee and tasty treats.... What more do you need people.

Amazing brunch place! Very lucky to have them in the neighborhood. The pastry is freshly made and just look appetizing. The menu items are also fresh and inviting. Good value for the price. The tikka masala naan wasn’t that spicy, but it was tomatoey. Needed a bit more intensity, but overall quite good. The brioche au chocolate was just what I wanted. Great texture and perfectly not too sweet.

Nice food, avocado sandwich with salmon was really great! And almond pistachios cookie! However, it would be great to have more options to sit and enjoy your food. Maybe to add some seat management options etc. there were some people who finished their food and were just sitting and chatting for 30+ minutes
It’s absolutely fine, but not when you have people eating while standing, I think. I would recommend this place because of the food and pastry quality and nice service

Walked here on our way to do the Freedom Trail. It was extremely crowded and it may always be like this. We did find 4 stools but I wish they had more seating available as it’s rather small. However, the lattes, bakery items and breakfast were really good. I loved and recommend the Avocado toast. And it was a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a latte before getting our day started.

This place is a wonderful spot for picking up breakfast and lunch. Highly recommend their avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, Greek salad, and any of the sandwiches. The new miso tofu bowl is a great addition.
They have quality hot and iced tea. I have ordered many a cake from the place for birthdays, etc. and everyone loves them. Their cookies and pastries are very indulgent - the sticky rolls are well known around these parts.
My only tiny issue is that if you try to go during peak times at breakfast or dinner the place is too small for the crowds and you practically trip over a stroller or two trying to pick up your order. So, it's not really a peaceful place to dine in, but there are plenty of places to sit outside nearby by the water instead if you do take out.
They have an online app for ordering and actually text you when it's ready unlike some other places.

Loved this place since the first time I tried! Pastries are amazing and they have such a great variety! Definitely my go to spot in Boston for quick and yummy breakfast.

Really cool place that has amazing sandwiches and desserts! The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a huge selection of desserts and they were voted the best sandwich of Boston by Boston Magazine. I can see why this place was jammed packed when we came here. We got a Boston cream pie and it was one of the best I’ve ever had... I haven’t had many but it was still amazing! The place is clean, nice and big with cool decor. I highly recommend if you’re looking for quality food with a really cool atmosphere.

Wonderful place! Wife got a Boston Cream Pie and loved it. I got a raspberry swirl macaroon that melted in my mouth. I wish I had gotten more (or the recipe!). Kiddo, of course, got the most gourmet PB&J you could imagine.

We arrived early for breakfast. Ordering process was smooth and food came quickly. Their sticky buns are the best!

Very nice bakery. Service was quick even though lines are long-ish. All the food was great. The standouts for me were the sticky bun and the banana bread. It was all good though. I even went back early the next day on my way to the airport to pick up a sticky bun to bring back to Minneapolis for my parents. It was worth the space in my carry on bag because they loved it!

Hands.down best veggie lunch sandwich we've had in as long as we can remember. We got theushroom one and broccoli one. Both great but the broccoli was anothee level up. Great option for takeout after an afternoon at the children's museum as it's across the street from the parking deck. Hoping to go again to try their desserts!

Best cafe so far in Boston. Skip dunkin. Terrific coffee and pastries! It’s one of the best coffees I’ve had anywhere including all the places I tried in NYC. I think the secret is the locally sourced almond/oat milk. The Boston cream pie needed a bit less cream but that’s just me. Free self serve water, relaxing decor to just chill or perhaps get some work done. This location was spacious with 2 bathrooms as well!

Convenient, friendly breakfast cafe with lots of choice and plenty of seating. We have got into the routine of coming here for breakfast while staying here. We particularly appreciate that they are clear about dietary needs and allergies, as one of our family has a nut allergy. We’ll be back again tomorrow!
