The First Day Hike at Holliday Lake State Park in Virginia was great! Everyone at the park was great at their job and made the whole experience really fun. And the park itself is amazing. Can't wait to go back during the summer when it's warm enough to use the beach and swim in the lake!

Great state park, we really enjoyed ourselves here. This park is really tucked away down some back roads and we felt like we were let in on a little secret. We brought our own kayaks and you can back right up to a boat ramp to launch. You can also rent them there. While kayaking you can see and hear multiple little brooks feeding into the lake. There was plenty of parking, most of it was in a grassy area. They also have a small swimming area that is roped off and some toys for the kids. The bathrooms were clean and have a changing area. There is also an outdoor shower to rinse off and a snack bar with picnic tables available.

We love coming to swim at the beach area! They have floating toys that my kids absolutely love and they dig around in the sand for hours. The water doesn't get very deep in the swimming area and it can be a little murky. But we've been at least 20 times so that doesn't slow us down. Parking is $5, the concession stand is reasonable (for being in the middle of no where), no life guard so it's swim at your own risk. There's a playground near the water and paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks for rent. We've camped here a few times and it's always a blast. We highly recommend! Especially for young families!

Nostalgia for me. Beautiful clear water, nice electric motor only lake with great fishing, with a beautiful shoreline around the entire lake. Hiking trails are easy enough. Loved every minute. The caretakers and park rangers were all top knotch and 100% the best staff I've ever talked to. Always helpful and lively, not grumpy and overbearing. The added to the fun, and made me feel very comfortable with the environment...
A+

Beautiful park with great spots. I was only able to stay one night, had to rush home the next morning to become a grandpa. I'll be back and actually try the lake out soon. Bath house was pretty clean. Multiple staff members rolled through on golf carts and were so friendly. Good time.

I love visiting here. Beware of the trail around the lake. A lot of spots are hard to pass over without getting wet, so make sure to either bring a change of shoes or water proof boots for the hike around the lake. I think full circle for us was about 6.5 miles. Quite a few hills too. I'm overweight, but young, so for me it was difficult. I wouldn't recommend it for older folks or out of shape folks. Great for weightloss training though!

Large campsites that are well maintained. The only down side for some was it’s a dead zone for cell phones. (They are working on getting funding to fix this)
They do have two hot spots you can use. One at the check in site, the other at the office (near the lake)

We visited just for a couple hours in the early afternoon at the end of May 2023 (Memorial Day weekend). We wanted to paddle a little bit but the weather wasn't the best. We did do a little bit of hiking. The lake beach area looked super fun and inviting. There were a few families here cooking and having a picnic.

We did stop by the park office and talked with the rangers. There was a bunch of nice merch in the office including pins, hiking medallions and patches/stickers. There was also cool apparel and a few info display exhibits and snacks. The concession stand by the water was not open the day we visited either.

We did talk with one ranger, Sarah Wilkinson, who told us all about the VA State Park Trail Quest. She gave us a bunch of tips about what to do and how we could achieve this goal. We'd never heard of it before and we've been to over a dozen VA State Parks. We're super excited to try and accomplish this goal as well as a newer one that involves paddling. Can't wait!

We will definitely need to visit again when the weather is more corporative. One suggestion was to stay at the Cabins over in Bear Creek Lake State Park and use that as a base camp to visit all the surrounding VA State Parks. There are quite a few in the area.

Enjoyed a wonderful day of fun and fellowship with family and friends for our 143rd Church Anniversary. The weather was nice and everyone had a joyful time. There was swimming, fishing, bingo and other activities to participate in. A very nice state park.😀

Had an absolutely amazing day at the park. Weather was great, especially for February. I went for a run on the lakeside trail. Definitely recommend, enjoyable trail with fantastic views. The facilities were very clean as were the grounds. Staff was welcoming and personable. Look forward to returning during normal season.

A hidden gem!!

Beach area, fishing (trolling motor only), showers, restrooms, snack stand (in season), a rinse station (for shoes and sandy items), volleyball area, hiking trails- including equestrian and biking, camp sites, and playgrounds.

It cost us $10 for the day. $7 for the vehicle and $3 for boat launch. Swimming is FREE.

This is a wonderful place hidden in Appomattox!

The park was very nice. It was well kept and clean. I only saw one piece of litter the whole time I was there. The park rangers were friendly and willing to help. The trails were easily seen and were well marked. Lots of stuff to do!

We loved the beach area and fishing was a little disappointing bc nothing was biting. The lake is beautiful and the area was very clean and well kept. We had a great time.

Wow! So Beautiful. My wife, our two dogs, and I went here for memorial day weekend this past summer and I cannot express how amazing it was. The campground was very clean, and right next to the lake which has boat rentals, a beach and even a place where the dogs could play in the water. We were idiots and forgot to pack firewood but fear not! The campground has wood for sale as well as a small gift shop to remember your time with a magnet or a cute sticker. Firewood was $1.00 a log and is kept covered to ensure a good burn when you buy it. I highly suggest going, I wish we had stayed for longer than 4 days.

This is a fantastic park. It is a bit out of the way which is nice. The trails are well maintained and the lake is superb. The swim area is a good size but I found it best to swim early or later as the crowds to pack in. The campgrounds are also well taken care of and well worth the fee. The campsites are large and we'll laid out for privacy. My only complaint is the narrowness of the road for backing a trailer. Some sites are better than others so I scoped out the best ones for next time! The rangers are very friendly and will help you learn more about the park as well as provide some tips on the best hikes. This is one of the best parks in VA!

Was very pleased with how nice and clean this lake was. I quit going years ago b/c it was nasty, but they have truly stepped it up and made it a great place to visit and enjoy. Very clean and many available picnic table areas which were clean and very well set up. Great job on making this lake desirable and worth the visit. Will definitely come back when I am able. Didn't go to the camping area..only the lake, but others have said that that area is kept well maintained as well.

Enjoyed a relaxing walk through the woods at Holliday Lake. Headed for Northwood Trail Overlook and for to the platform just as a light rain started. Still had a great view with a very short hike. Very beautiful, soothing experience. Loved it! Stopped by on a weekday and noticed the huge parking areas that must fill up over summer weekends, but I had the place to my self. Pretty, short hike.
