Dan River Campground

Love the owners and grounds. We have visited hundreds of campgrounds and this by far is our favorite in the area. Lots of nature and wildlife in the area! We've stayed here a few times and will certainly return. It's a must-stay on our Carolina list. The attention to detail and care the family put forth shows throughout. Great trails, clean restrooms and fantastic laundry.

Dan River Campground is a well-maintained, beautiful campground. The bathhouse is nice, and there are washers and dryers in both the men's and women's sides. The pool is a great place to cool off on those warm days. The walking trails are a great family activity. The Saturday night community campfire was a great way to meet other campers and enjoy smores under the canopy of stars. There is wifi available. It is such a peaceful place. I would recommend it for a weekend retreat or a much needed vacation place.

Well kept, secure, and full of amenities. We are new to camping and are luckily less than half an hour from Dan River Campground. We decided to have a “staycation” and spend a weekend away from the house (while staying close enough to get back quickly if we needed anything). We haven’t stayed at a lot of campgrounds, so we didn’t know what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find an automatic gate and office to check in. The office was stocked with essentials (firewood, ice, propane filling station, small eats, souvenirs, etc.). Staff was friendly and check in was a breeze (we had reserved a spot online). We were given a “keycard” to enter the gate and made our way to our reserved spot. The entire grounds are well maintained and had lots of activities to offer. There’s a swing set, volleyball court, covered community area with ping pong table, and most importantly a clean/maintained pool (reason we chose these grounds). We setup and met with a few other campers and were invited to a community fire the following night (with complimentary s’mores). At the fire, we met a few friendly staff that live on-site and made sure we had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay and had zero issues. Wifi signal was great and were able to stream Netflix/etc. The Dan River is a short hike and they have areas cleared out/maintained and chairs set out to enjoy the passing water. We look forward to using Dan River Campgrounds as a regular get-a-way spot.

We had the pleasure of staying at Dan River Campground for November. Nick & Anne were absolutely wonderful hosts. The campground is quiet and very well kept. The bath house is always immaculate, well stocked and has nice washers & dryers.

We had issues the day we were leaving with our RV & truck. Nick immediately came to our site, helped trouble shoot and fixed our issue. He is such a genuinely kind person, and I can’t thank him enough for his help!

We had such a peaceful and wonderful stay. If you are in the area I highly recommend this place!

It's a shame the new owners have to deal with the negative ratings that was posted here before they took over.
Nice peaceful campground. Well maintained as others have commented. They have good shade on several sites. The bathhouse was always clean when I used them over the entire stay. Their shuttle service fills up quick so make preparations as soon as you can. We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked again.

We just had the pleasure of staying at Dan River Campground for the last 9 days. The property is very well kept, secure, peaceful,
quiet and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bathhouse was very clean with washers and dryers in the women's and men's bathouse. The camp hosts and Bill, the maintenance man,were very friendly and we enjoyed getting to know them. We highly recommend this campground and look forward to our next visit.

This place sits at what feels like the edge of the world. You go back a long and very private/scenic road, and it sits back in a very private setting. I cannot say enough about the care and maintenance of this place to make sure you have the most peaceful and enjoyable experience. We came with our boys while waiting to move into our home and it was just what we needed. Internet was awesome too, so bonus to travel workers.

I just stayed for the weekend and i tell you i absolutely loved this campground!!! So much fun stuff to do. The staff is very friendly. I will be coming back to go down River!! You wont be disappointed and they have wifi as well. If i didn't have to go back to work i would have stayed longer.

We rated here one night on our way down to Myrtle Beach from OH. Facilities were clean and site was a nice size. Didn’t get a chance to explore but seemed beautiful and quiet.

My husband and I have been coming to Dan River Campground for several years. The restrooms and sites are very well maintained. The band Saturday was great. I
I encourage others to come out and support the band. Nick and his staff are very pleasant. I have noticed the majority of negative reviews are from those individuals who can't follow rules. Rules are for your own safety.

Excellent, well kept campground. Spacious spots. Friendly hosts. Good communication. It was a pleasure to stay here with our camper. We are also thankful to the hosts that they are EV friendly.

We stayed at Dan River for two nights in our camper in April due to it's proximity to Mayodan and were delighted at this campground. It's peaceful, quiet at night, and a short walk from the Dan River. The bath house was very clean. We had a site more towards the rear of the grounds which I would recommend if you prefer shaded sites. Simply a great family campground!

We stayed there a few years ago before the huge flooding and I believe that was when the new owners had just purchased it. They were super nice and helpful as it was our 1st time there. We had booked a spot not knowing there wasn't enough room for our camper or power and they gladly moved us to one that had power and big enough for our camper. We haven't been back only because we wanted to put our camper on a permanent spot as it is a 31 ft 5th wheel and a lot of camper to keep pulling it. If they EVER have permanent spots to where we can put ours there full time and year round....we will absolutely be 1st in line to put ours there! They are truly accommodating, friendly, and it's very peaceful there!!

Me and my husband have been coming here for several years very nice camp sites extremely clean bathrooms and the pool is a great addition the owners are very polite and had a great fourth of july band. All that is asked of anyone is to follow the rules for your safety its not hard to do. We will be coming back again. Thanks Nick and Ann for a great place to come and camp.

Had a excellent time again. Owners make sure everyone is happy. The four of July celebration festivities were excellent. Hope to see the great same band again. Many returns.

This is a wonderful campground! We stayed here a couple months and it was consistently quiet, clean, and well taken care of. I was so happy with this place!

Spent the weekend there last weekend. Place was great with nice flat campsites and a great bathhouse. Owners and staff was very friendly and helpful. We did the tubing experience on Saturday which is great. This was our first time there and will not be our last. We highly recommend this wonderful family owned campground for everyone. We will be back soon.

We stayed here 1 night on our way home from vacation. Very clean campground including bathrooms and pool. The campground has spacious sites and ours was level. It’s a small quiet campground that I could easily see spending a relaxing weekend at. Staff was friendly. If you are using a Garmin GPS double check your route. Ours took us to the other side of the river first. There is no bridge to cross. Also, very affordable.

We just stayed here this weekend and it was really amazing. The bathrooms are extremely well kept and clean! They even had high quality toilet paper, lights in each shower stall(ladies yes, don't know about men's, but I would assume so.). The staff was friendly and helpful and the rules were upheld well. Very clean place and my husband had a great time fishing in the pond. Not huge but have good fish in it. We did a tubing trip with the campground and it was a blast. Even the vehicles they transported us in were clean. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
