Blackbird Bakery

Every time we visit Bristol we take a time out to visit one of the best sweets shops I've been to.
This bakery never disappoints the family.
The only drawback... which isn't the fault of the business is that they are so popular that 3 out of 4 visits has resulted in a 30 to 40 minute line.

Obviously it's worth it, seeing as how we keep coming back.
I strongly recommend the fruit tarts. The fruit is always so sweet, juicy and fresh. The cheesecake is also a good choice and do yourself a favor... get a sampling of the donuts!

I was looking at bakeries in Bristol a couple of days prior. Since I planned on coming here already I decided I would stop here and the night before I pulled into town they received a shout out on the local news.

I arrived about 7:10 a.m. and they opened at 7:00 a.m.
Parking was super easy.

I ordered a:

Medium (16oz) iced caramel macchiato $5

1-Cherry Danish $4.5

1-Blueberry and 1- raspberry cheesecake $6 ea

1-Red velvet brownie $4

1-loaf of sourdough bread $5

I have only tried the Danish so far, the crust is so flaky and tasty. The cream cheese and cherry were not overpowering and everything made for a really tasty danish.

They also have a drive-through location in town

A beautiful space filled with an endless array of delicious looking delicacies and the most friendly staff. We came in looking for sweets and were met by the kindest ladies who treated us like regulars. We ordered an assortment of donuts, croissants the size of our heads, an oreo dream bar and a scoop of ice cream. Everything was fresh and scrumptious. If you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in. If you aren't in the area, it's worth the detour anyway.

Great place first thing in the morning unless you're on a diet. They have a super good-looking display of donuts, fritters, cakes, small pies, etc. Coffee's pretty good, too. The cashier is cordial and pretty humorous.

I absolutely love this place, the line is always long but the staff knows how to keep it moving quickly so it never really takes too terribly long. It really just additional proof of how good this place is really lol. Everything is baked to perfection, the sweet items are not to sweet and the items meant to be more on the tart side are not to overly tart. They do an amazing job with custom orders to like birthday cakes for example. One of my favorite items to get is the chocolate dream cake and you have to try the brownie tower.

The atmosphere and customer service are second to none. It's a real gem of southern hospitality. Plus the food is delicious! They do offer a few (about 3-5) gf options so I wish that bit of selection was bigger but the options that they do have were good so it's hard to argue with that!

Simply, they're the best! Great place. If you're going through Bristol TN/VA do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't regret it!

One of the reasons we drove 650 miles was to visit this Bakery again. The food is outstanding. Everything I have ever had here is tremendous.
I especially loved the German Chocolate bars and the cinnamon rolls.
The only thing I regret is that they no longer have outside tables. I understand why they removed them, but we often travel with our dog, and now there is nowhere for us to sit and enjoy our goodies. That is why atmosphere only has four stars now. The inside of the bakery is lovely, though.

My husband takes a trip to this area once or twice a year so it's a rare treat for me to indulge in these super delicious desserts. Today I tried their donuts for the first time. I had the blueberry donut. OMG..best donut I have ever tasted. I warmed it in the microwave for about 10 seconds and oh my..melt in your mouth good. My other favorite is their blueberry lemon bars. The brownie tower is my son's favorite and the cream cheese brownie and red velvet brownies are close seconds. Thank you for another memorable and delicious experience!

Bought this fruit tart and it seems very undercooked. We have been here before a month or two ago and had one that was solid, so when I got this I was concerned. I went to the girl at the counter and expressed my concern and all she said was “that’s above my pay grade” and offered no additional help. Eventually I proceeded to purchase a cheesecake so that I could at least have something edible, but if you pay $7.50 for one fruit tart I think it should be edible and when you make a mistake, instead of saying it’s above your pay grade, at least try to talk to someone to get answers and fix the problem.

Absolutely delicious! The cheese cakes were so thick & creamy. Cupcakes are always wonderful.

I was greeted when I arrived and the crew was eager to help me figure out what I wanted (there are a lot of options). Everyone I spoke with was friendly.
I got a pumpkin donut and a coconut iced donut as well as a large hot vanilla latte. The latte was just right not too sweet nor too bold. The pumpkin donut was absolutely delightful. I highly recommend these two items. The coconut donut was good as well but was just a tad dry.
My total for the 3 items was around $8 which I think is a good value for what I got.
There is ample inside seating as well as a good number of tables available for outdoor seating.
I will definitely return to the cafe and I look forward to trying more of their offerings!

The banana pudding is pillowy and flavorful and perfect (I’m somewhat of a connoisseur 😌). The cinnamon sugar donut stuffed with stewed apples was *divine*. Cold brew was unique and not my fave, but the iced coffee was awesome. To top it all off, every staff member I interacted with was so kind and joyful. I will be back here every time I’m in Bristol!

I don't recall what the little strawberry cake we got was called. What I can say, is that it is so good I literally cussed. Cake got no business being that good. I'm serious! It was our first time here, it was amazing we loved it. If I lived nearby this would be my local haunt n chill spot.

Try the pink cake!!!

I love me some baked good! Everyone said this is a MUST! This place has amazing options! Both seasonal and local treats for any and everyone. The place has so much to pick from but everyone there was helpful it what to snag. I got a little bit of everything and we like most everything we got! The place itself is super cute and has a great vibe. Lots of seating upstairs, outside and on the main floor.

Everything was amazing. We ha to wait in line but it was worth it! The pink almond filled donut was my favorite out of our donut selections but each one held its own with high ratings. If the case is out of something just ask, they may have more in the back!

Its more than just a bakery!! Everything is made fresh each day. And there are more than just donuts here. Great place to come in sit a bit, and enjoy some really great desserts. Greeted with a friendly smile and wonderful smells from the kitchen. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy a hot cup of your favorite and you can't go wrong with anything here, the hard part is trying to pick what to have first. Life's short eat dessert first and often!!

It was my first time there and everything looked so delicious and fresh! I got one of everything I wanted to try and it was so affordable!

My wife and I found this gem when visiting Bristol. Now we are moving here and are looking forward to making the Blackbird a part of our regular spots!
