Local small businesses are almost extinct these days. There are lots of reasons why; the economy of scale favors big box stores, internet businesses don’t have to pay rent, small shops can’t afford huge inventories, etc.

I’ll be honest, I don’t buy all my fishing gear from here. There’s no sense in buying a reel at retail price when I can get it off the internet for 20% less then add a promotional coupon. Also I don’t want to wait a week or two for them to special order something that I can get in Raleigh that day or off of Amazon with free 2 day shipping.

Buuuut...I love this store. I take the money I save elsewhere (and then some) and spend it here. The guys who work there are nice and very knowledgeable. They’re not going to pester you into buying stuff and it seems like they always give honest opinions. Also, I’ve had a few rods repaired and it’s always as good as new for just a small fee.

Yeah, they don’t have the selection of BPS or Cabelas, but they have all the essentials. They do carry a lot of items you can’t find at Walmart or Dunham’s. What’s really surprising is almost all of the lures and terminal tackle are a little cheaper than the big stores.

So, yeah. Awesome store. Support the little guy and spend your money there.

Good prices and a great selection of bait. Friendly service and great information about what is biting locally and down at the coast. They also do rod and reel repair and have repaired several for me.

Great store for all your angling needs to include rod and reel repairs and maintenance. I have some reels from the 80s I still use thanks to this store.

Hand tied shad rigs at 4-5 bucks. Work pretty well. Nice selection of live bait also. Super nice people.
