Kate's Place Restaurant

The place is great, good food, good service, good atmosphere, good wine! The menu changes with the season and you can expect some very exotic combinations like duck with caramelized pears flatbread. I liked the onion soup as well and the steak. A place to go back! If the weather is nice the outside tables are great. If it s cold, keep in mind you have to get out of the restaurant to go to the bathroom.

Dog friendly patio seating! The owner and staff was extremely friendly and helpful with finding seating for my 2 dogs. Delicious food and outstanding service. Will definitely return! FYI: They do not supply straws

The food was excellent and the service was great. The little garden out back verified how fresh it all was. I'd say the only thing we didnt like was that our 3 year old got a lemonade and the straw was a piece of hay which was really hard to drink from. (Save the plastic straws I guess)

Good food and service. Had the lamb sausage and chickpea stew, it was really good. The mashed potatoes and hibiscus lemonade were great. The entrance driveway is hard to find at night, but it's worth it.

This place was very nice, I will definitely be back. They cater to gluten free and vegan as well as having regular options.

Looking for lunch on a Sunday, we tried Kate's for the first time. Weather was perfect so we sat outside on the back patio, which was dominated by a giant smoker from some earlier period of that location.

The menu, while not large, offered plenty of appealing choices. Being Sunday, the brunch menu added more interesting options. The wife kept it simple with Rosie's chicken salad sandwich. Simple but good! The nine grain bread was fresh and toasted just right, the chicken salad fresh and full of flavor.

But the show stopper was the brunch shrimp and grits. The waitperson described them as 'Southwestern Style Shrimp and Grits'. That turned out to be a good description. The dish was spicy enough to get your attention, but not overwhelming. The Gulf shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. The balance of spices, base, cheddar grits, bacon and other ingredients was perfect. Overall, every bit as good as any shrimp&grits I've had in New Orleans.

Bottom line; Kate's was laid back and friendly, the patio modest, but the food was the star of the show. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Great Atmosphere and Great Service. I had the swordfish steak and my wife had the pork chop. Our waitress was very accommodating and we even had a free dessert since it was our anniversary. Great place for a nice, quiet dinner away from the crowds at the square

We decided to come here after finding good reviews, and we were not disappointed. The place is very homely, and we chose to sit outside. They have a good amount of outdoor sitting, and it's not next to the road.
The service was excellent, the young lady who served us was very courteous and attentive. They ran out of croissants, but they accommodated by making the croque madame with toast instead. The food was delicious, but we were surprised that the fries are actually more like country style breakfast potatoes (still good, but not fries haha).
Overall was really pleased and will be back when we come to the Wimberly area again.

The food was so fresh and incredibly delicious with a great variety of choices. I ordered an appetizer, entree, and a dessert and was amazed at all three! The service was really great also. Live music makes this place cozy and fun. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant!

Had brunch here while passing through. Food is very good! Our server Chloe went above and beyond! Very friendly and more than willing to find out about local swimming spots when asked.
Food came out fast and were generous potions. Would highly recommend this location to anyone who wants some amazing eggs benidict!

We came in for Sunday Brunch and we're not disappointed. I had the Hibiscus Kiss while my husband enjoyed an oatmeal stout with our breakfast. Good was great and we had great service! Definitely recommend !

We've dined here many times. The service is friendly and wait staff knowledgeable about menu items. The food is delicious and presentation impressive. I highly recommend this restaurant. P.S. They give back to the community in various ways.

Thia place does simple food right. Don't mistake simple for not excellent. Everything is fresh, well prepared, and just enough surprising flavors to keep things interesting.
Solid wine choices, laid back atmosphere, friendly people.
You can't go wrong.

Interesting menu with quality ingredients and good local beer selection. They grow a lot of their own herbs and some produce as well. We chatted with Mr. Kate for a good while and he showed us around. Genuine people running a great restaurant.

Wonderful place excellent food we had the salmon and it was the best full of flavor. The staff was super friendly and the chef visited the tables. We were here for a funeral so it was a place we could feel at ease. P S the vegetables are worth the visit.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere!! My husband ordered the cocktail with shrimp, crab, guacamole etc, off of the appetizer section and it was outstanding!! I had the hibiscus lemonade and got 3 refills!! Stop here or you are missing out!

Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had! What a great place!!! We met Kate’s husband (Kate is the owner), he grows lots of different hot peppers and gave us a tour of his pepper farm. Great breakfast experience!!!

BEST place for dog people who love great, fresh food!!

We came to Wimberly for a dog friendly vacation and this place was the epitome of dog friendly. The outdoor atmosphere was really chill and laid back so our dogs could relax. Service was great, the waitress brought out water bowls for our dogs, and the owner stopped by to talk to us and pet our dogs. We felt so welcome and comfortable here, and the food was amazing. I live in north Austin but plan to make the drive back just to eat here. I wish we could find a place this great in Austin!
