After moving to PA over a year ago, my husband refuses to find a new, local audiologist, so we make the 4 hour trip when necessary. This is clearly confirmation on how GREAT the staff is at Mountaineer Audiology.
Tara & Jamie go above & beyond for their patients.

I have had Tara as an audiologist for several years and have no intention of changing to another audiologist anytime soon. Even after moving from Hampshire County to Jefferson County, WV over ten years ago, I still continue to go to Romney to see Tara for any issues relating to my hearing. She and Jamie have been wonderful.

I had a problem with one of my hearing aides and took it to Mountaineer Audiology in Romney. Tara the owner took care of my problem asap. I was very impressed on how fast they corrected my problem. It was well worth the ride from McCoole to have my problem solved and fixed. Thanks Tara

I see that Dr Crane has some good reviews from the Romney office. I went to the Winchester office and I appreciated Dr Crane speed in getting new hearing aids and the thoroughness of her exam. She was also very generous with her time to get my Sigma hearing aids working. I recommend her.
But... Until Sigma improves, i don't recommend them. There is a sweetheart arrangement between Sigma, TrueHearing and Humana that is just plain awful. Humana -- unless you spend an arm and a leg on premiums -- has only one hearing aid for clients who can't afford a copay. That is Sigma. Supposedly it is with a deduction of $1000 but that is not true. $1000 is the "suggested retail price" and even if you found other hearing aids for less than $1000, you could not get a refund of that under $1000 price.
It gives Sigma no incentive to make a good hearing aid because it is the only show in town for no copay under Humana. And Sigma uses that sweetheart arrangement with deceptive advertising, especially for Android cellphone users, falsely claiming the ability to control the hearing aids via cellphone. Don't believe it. Maybe they do for Apple but for Android cellphones it is hit or miss. You never know when your hearing aids will decide to stop working and you can forget about features such as battery level. Look at the reviews. Virtually every customer experiences constantly repeated disconnections interrupting control of volume, ratio of bass and treble and directionality. And the hearing aids are flimsily designed to make hand correction of controls difficult unless you have tiny hands and razor sharp eyesight. The app was designed ³for Apple and has never bothered to include the same features in Android. Mind you, when you first insert the Sigmas and they feel like working, they produce good sound.
Take the Google Play reviews from Android users seriously. Almost all the positive reviews are for Apple. The negative reviews are remarkably consistent in the failings of Sigma but the difficulty originates in that sweetheart deal between Humana, Truhearing and Sigma. It is worth spending a few hundred dollars of real money (not the play money "suggested retail price" to get reliable hearing aids
And don't blame Dr Crane. She is just doing what she can to preserve some access to hearing aids for low income clients who have to limit themselves to the one "no copay" hearing aid Humana deals in.
