6978 Soul Food

Soul food is a specialty and not every one can do it correctly! 6978 Soul Food can do it.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is okay it definitely gives outdated bar/banquet hall. But one thing I’ve learned as a foodie is how the place looks shouldn’t always deter you from stopping cause we all know some of the best restaurants are holes in the wall.

When we were seated we did a quick check to make sure it was clean and everyone was pleased. Our waitress was extremely sweet and nice. We have a big table with children so we always appreciate waitstaff that are a little understanding.

The food was quick to get to the table which was great because we didn’t have to wait long. Even though the food was quick it was fresh and hot. The sides were amazing! The food was good definitely something to feel your stomach when you have a taste for soul food but don’t want to put in the effort.

This is my Sunday after church goto for dinner. The food comes out hot, fresh, well-seasoned and very quickly. Ms. Dorothy and her team do a phenomenal job. The catering is 🔥🔥, too.

Like sitting in Granny's dining room after church on Sunday! All the food is very well seasoned, hot and fresh. The owner comes and checks on you. True down home style cooking. Reminded me so much of my childhood Sunday dinners I almost had a tear. Very cozy and inviting venue. Private room has a fireplace. Writing this review getting hungry. Best soul food in the city, worth the drive

Before we headed to our hotel we wanted some good ole SOUL FOOD. We were searching and searching. The other restaurants closed early. When we stumbled across 6978 their photos spoke for themselves. Their food had been absolutely divine. We had to order an entrée to go and meet the chef. Way to go 6978!

I came here craving soul food, and got exactly what I needed! The menu was simple, the portions were plenty, and everything tasted fantastic! I ordered the smothered chicken with collards, mac & cheese, and yams with peach cobbler for dessert. As much as I wish I had more room in my belly, I could not fit all the delicious food, and that is my only regret. Thank goodness they have takeout boxes!

Real food done Real well...even the sides were very nice. Service was very good...just good people. Very nice place. I'm stuffed. Thank you for a very nice meal.

Dorothy is the owner. I eat there every Sunday. Excellent food, positive vibes, great waitresses , superb customer service.

Friendly staff who were very welcoming! Had several sides and 2 entree items with desert. Everything I had tasted delicious. Catfish and chicken well seasoned and juicy not dry. Beautiful atmosphere. Full bar. Street parking available. Alot of great items to choose from the menu. Will be coming back to try more of the items with my family. Looking forward to the jerk chicken and meatloaf too!! Highly recommend this place. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Oh. My. Goodness. The food was delicious!! We had driven by 6978 so many times and kept saying we would stop by but never did. I happened to see a Groupon online and got it. Man, this place did not disappoint!! Everything was delicious, cooked to perfection and the flavors just burst in your mouth. Pictured is the smothered chicken, mac and cheese, greens and corn and their sweet tea was perfect and the peach cobbler and banana pudding were to die for.

I haven't had the opportunity to eat here yet. I went in to pick up a delivery and when I walked in the staff treated me like I was family. I love that and thank you for your hospitality..I will be back to visit you all soon.

Love this place the last time I went here was in 2020 of not 2021 . My x bf took me here for the 1st time we came here in 2016 I believe and we sat by the window.

I order once or twice a month for our Family Birthdays and other gatherings and the food is always great. The service is great and the prices are not bad at all. Thanks to Ms. Dorothy and her crew.

The atmosphere was great. Service excellent. Food was absolutely delicious!!!

Aw man, this place takes care of us. First is a really laid back and family feel when you go in. You get the sense that the people want you to enjoy your meal. Servers are attentive but not crowding you. Laid back doesn't mean slow; your food comes out quickly. You get decent portions. The food is satisfying without leaving you feeling weighted down. I personally don't like catfish but I'll eat theirs. My kids love the chicken.

I enjoyed the food at 6978 soul food I had the fried catfish green cornbread dressing and yams and for dessert which come with the meal peach cobbler that food is so good make you want to slap your mama 💋💕🙏🙏😷
