Tierra Mar Restaurant

We had an AMAZING dinner here. The dining area has an amazing view of the river. We had a delicious shrimp cocktail to start, and the Levanta Muertos to share. It was incredible! Definitely recommend to finish with the Flan, it's magical.

The Camarones al Gusto is very good!! So far I tried the Garlic and Spicy Diabla. Spicy Diabla below. There's enough sauce to use on the fries if you like. Very filling plate! Great service!

Fresh food. Authentic. Shrimp fajita outstanding. Octopus dish very good. Kids liked the food. Clean and well maintained restaurant. Would definitely recommend. Surprised by how few people go to this restaurant. Cook did not do a good job of getting our food out at the same time, but I don't think it is worth reducing stars for this minor flaw.

Me and my husband stopped in. He ordered the bacon garlic wrapped shrimp and they were absolutely delciciuos!!!! Had a wonderful view of the river. Service was very nice and we were given appetizer with our meal was amazing! Both of our meals looked beautiful and tasted as good as they looked. Highly recommend checking out this gem!

This place is a gem. There are several Mexican restaurants in the area that offer tacos, burritos, fajitas, frozen margaritas, etc. However, there are no good Mexican seafood restaurants. This place has a fantastic menu with a variety of seafood specialties. We sampled the shrimp empanadas for an appetizer. They were fantastic. The server also brought us some house made ceviche and tostadas that was good. For entrées we ordered the seafood stuffed sea bass and seafood filled pineapple. Both were excellent. This place also offers a nice view of the river. Excellent Friendly Service. Highly recommend.

Our meal and service were absolutely perfect! Our server was attentive and friendly. We ordered oysters on the half shell, carne asada, and the bass in garlic. Everything was fresh, cooked perfectly and seasoned well. We sat at a table by the windows with a view of the river.
We highly recommend it!

I LOVE this place! It is located right on the Kankakee River. Very scenic. The food is delicious! The service is great. They give you lots of food. I always get the same thing. It is a large piece of fish covered with tons of seafood. It is awesome.

Super friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommend the mussels and paella. The portions are huge and worth the price. The view of the river is phenomenal and gives such a cozy feel to the restaurant. Coming back soon.

First time going today, the owner Helped us pick out what to order, what she helped us choose was awesome! She was very kind to us, food was definitely fresh, will be coming back!

Friendly, efficient staff made us welcome with a great table overlooking the river. The Fillete Relleno, which was Bass covered with shrimp, crab, octopus, scallops and a delicious creamy, garlicky sauce was superb! The ceviche w/chips was very good, but watch out for the little cups of red or green pepper sauce...will definitely set you on fire! Wonderful meal, view, and staff. I can highly recommend Tierra Mar!

Great service and wonderful food! Ceviche, shrimp fajitas, and bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp were awesome. The salsa is hot, hot, hot! Can't wait to go back and try more items.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's amazing on the inside. They handmake their chips, and we had terrific cerviche and seafood platters. I will honestly say that it tremendously outperformed expectations.

Having eaten there twice now so no fluke, this place is fantastic. I thought the seafood paella was good but the Pina merr (sp) was unbelievable. The have seafood and steaks with a Mexican flair. I am afraid I will never get to the steaks as the seafood is TOO DAMN GOOD!

Great service, great food! Definitely worth a visit! Food portions are huge you won't leave hungry! A little pricey but with how much food you get, you can't complain! Service was fast and friendly!

Amazing seafood! I love the shrimp ceviche and the Oysters Tierra Mar. (I think it's what it was called, cooked with cheese, peppers, octopus, and shrimp.) I never thought I'd enjoy octopus like this, but it's delicious. It's chicago quality mexican seafood down near Kankakee.
My father is a big oyster on the half shell fan and said this is the best in town!

We loved everything we sampled, but the whole red snapper, steak, shrimp empanadas were the highlights. Everything was enhanced with fresh salsas and sauces. The housemade horchata was to die for! And our server was exceptional! Definitely will be returning and bringing friends!

I've ate alot of good food in my life and granted I wanted a good after covid sit down meal, the food did not disappoint. I will be a repeat customer. I'm usually suspect on eating seafood,but everything was fresh and cooked to perfection...repeat customer for sure

Date night! We had an awesome view of the river. Service was great! Food was so very delicious! Will definitely be back!
