Hala Kahiki Lounge

This place is great. The shop used to be bigger and I miss that. Wish they would bring back how much stuff they had, but prices of the shop items are very cheap compared to what you'd pay online for similar tropical items. Also, they now serve tapas type foods (sushi, snacks, finger foods, etc), but we didn't try any was we had dinner beforehand not realizing they now have food there. The drinks are just too delicious to describe & will cost you a hefty penny, but definitely worth every cent. The waitstaff are awesome. Always very friendly & entertaining. Don't forget to ask the staff about their "showy" drinks, because those are all part of the fun of going to this place.

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars!!! It's been there since 1943 (?) Has a whole book full of drinks. Definitely try the frozen cream drinks!! Our waitress was absolutely awesome. The patio is open all year long, enclosed with heaters. Loved it so much!!!

Another fantastic tiki experience in the Chicago area. This bar is not to be overlooked.

Entering the bar is a time warp. The bar has been open since 1964 and likely still reflects a lot of the original charms that made it so popular during the tiki craze era.

The main bar is a thatched hut with a backdrop of every rum you can imagine. The drink menu was impressive, easily over 50 options, not including great pages of mocktails and other non tiki style beverages. For the rum aficionados, ask for the rum list. It is extensive and relatively reasonably priced.

Both drinks I had, the bar pilot, and namesake hala kahiki, were fantastic.

All in all, a wonderful night out in Chicago, and shout-out to Curtis our great bartender.

I've been going to Hala Kahiki since 2019 and ever since I've been coming back when I get the chance. I've been taking my husband since I introduced it to him and now he's been wanting his friends to come see it for themselves and I love coming here with good company and to just destress and put all your worries out the window. It's like a tropical get away I swear. The inside feels so Polynesian and the vibe checks with the waiters when they serve you they are accommodating and very friendly and fun. This is probably one of the few bars I'll always go to no matter how old I get with or without a group you'll always enjoy the atmosphere. My most favorite part is the indoor outdoor patio where you can sit on the couches and it feels more intimate with a group. I also like the bar area and the little shop they have any the front area of the bar. They don't have much for food options but plenty of yummy Polynesian drinks to pick from! Whether you have a feel for a soury/tart drink to a sweet delicacy there's a good variety to choose from.

An absolute gem of a cozy, old school feeling tiki bar with a warm and welcoming staff and environment. Way bigger on the inside with lots of seating. Didn’t try the food but the drink menu is MASSIVE and everything was delicious and creative. Great spot to kick back with friends. 21+ only

Always a wonderful experience at Hala Kahiki! The vibes are perfect tiki atmosphere, making you wish you really were laying out on a beach in Hawaii. They have a vast assortment of tiki drinks from sweet, to sour and everything in between. You will definitely find something here!

They don't really have a kitchen or food but they do have prepackaged snacks which I can't complain about. The drinks however were absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was very fun. The staff were so knowledgeable and accommodating. It's my girlfriend's birthday and when asked the staff went out of the way to help it feel special for her. I gladly recommend the place if you want some after dinner cocktails, don't drive though the lack of alcohol taste in the cocktails will definitely sneak up on you.

These are some of the best drinks I've ever had in my life! Such an extensive drink menu that has a little something for everybody! From a spirit forward daiquiri to a non alcoholic blended ice cream, this place does it all! The service was quick and attentive, and the bar was quiet enough that we could have a conversation at normal speaking volume! A gem of an establishment that I will definitely be back to soon!

Truly a step back in time. Great drinks, staff and atmosphere! Loved everything about it! We will be back! Do not miss this inconspicuous Tiki Bar in the suburbs of Chicago.

I'm in love. 😍 This place truly boasts Pacific island culture and makes me want to hop on a plane immediately to head to Tahit and get lost in the life of the islands!!!!!!

It makes me feel so happy to feel a piece of the Pacific island culture in the suburbs of Chicago.

I especially love how the back of their menu teaches you to say many local sayings! Very thoughtful!

Had sweet potato chips and mango salsa. There is also pineapple salsa, but the mango is the best. This is mostly a place with drinks. I had a lava flow which was good.

Old school Tiki in the Chicagoland area. Great place to hang out and get a legit tiki drink and take in the ambiance. If you are a fan of tilki this is a must stop. Just make sure you have a DD!

20 years ago was the last time I was here. It's adorable inside. The bar area is sexy and you'll find lots of leopard decor. I don't remember how massive this place is. Lots of room for larger party groups. Drinks were tasty and strong.

Drinks were great, around $15 on average. Decor and vibe was authentic and laid back. Teresa the bartender was super knowledgeable about the extensive rum selection. A gem in the area.

We had a lovely time. First the decor is incredible. This place has a classic vibe much more old school than other tiki bars in the area. That is because of that era. I loved the classic feel. Our service was excellent. Drinks were delicious but on the sweet side, which is my preference. Not a lot of options for snacks but that was clear from the website we ate before we came. What we ordered was tasty though. Absolutely worth the trip out to it. I will attempt to return next time I'm in the area.

Love all the fun drink option. All we have ever tried Tasted Amazing. We visit as often as we can.

Shauntay provided us with fantastic service. The drinks were great, the atmosphere transported us. Poke bowl was quite good. The outdoor space is delightful and...HEATED. Not just heat lamps, the have a heater blowing warm air inside! Can't wait to return and bring friends.

Great drinks. Knowable staff. Friendly and kitschy atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
