Ironbound Restaurant & Inn

Stopped in here for dinner with family while visiting back in Maine. This was our first time here. I believe this was the last weekend they were open for the season. The restaurant is a step above. The dining selection including the day's made the my dinner choice very difficult. In addition the signature cocktails were very refreshing. I enjoyed the smoked old fashioned immensely. The server provided excellent customer service with a high attention to detail. The dining choices were completely enjoyed by all at the table. Finally, prices were commensurate with quality of the dining experience. I can't wait to check this out again.

My wife and I were fortunate to have discovered this wonderful restaurant on our first night of a two night stay in this area. The first night we had to have a light dinner, since we had a huge lunch earlier in the day on our arrival at Bangor airport. For a light fare, I had two delicious haddock fish tacos, and my wife had squash soup and a salad. Everything tasted fantastic, and the service was great as well. We definitely returned the second night to order some of their signature dishes. I had the shrimp and scallops dish that was out of this world. My wife had their halibut dish, and it was much better than any of the four expensive halibut dinners that she recently ordered at four different restaurants during a recent trip to Alaska. We eat seafood on a regular basis, and these all were outstanding meals. I believe that this restaurant will be closing for the season in a few days, but do yourself a favor and stop by here next season if you want some really great food!

We stopped here on the last night of our trip and it was by far the best food we had all week. The environment was cozy and romantic. The service was extremely competent, professional, and friendly. And the FOOD ya'll. If you're familiar with the Black Trumpet in Portsmouth NH, the food here is on par with the level of love, culinary expertise, and local ingredients. Make sure to have the oysters. They're fresh from the owner's son's farm harvested that day.

My wife and I were not customers at the Inn, however, we did dine at this establishment and found it to be wonderful. The menu was creative with many gluten-free offerings. The food was delicious well prepared, and presentation was stellar. Our wait person, Sonny, was professional, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The fresh local oysters were amazing. I would whole heartedly recommend Ironbound restaurant!

Me and my girlfriend stayed for 2 nights and we really enjoyed the room. Easy access and the accommodations were exactly what we thought they would be. The restaurant was fantastic, food was great and the vibe was fantastic in the dining room. Great outside section too with live music on Thursday! A very pleasant experience and if we are in this neck of the woods again this is a go to.

We went for dinner while on vacation at around 7:30 on a tuesday in August and it was quite busy. Glad we had a reservation. Everything about our dining experience was outstanding, the food, the ambience, and especially the staff. The oysters, which we were informed are locally farmed by a family member of the owners, were some of the best we’ve ever had. The lobster bisque rocked our worlds. And we thought how could it get any better? Then our main courses arrived, and I can only compare it to a michelin star caliber meal. Desserts were also exceptional. Could not recommend more.

Came here on a whim the last night of our trip and I’m so glad we did. The food and drinks are really yummy, and it had such a quaint, welcoming feel. Highly recommend for a cozy dinner!

Amazing dinner experience! Our server Nancy was lovely and we enjoyed talking to her. The menu was so imaginative and we were shocked to find Goan vegetable curry on it! We had mentioned earlier that day how much we were craving Indian food so we ordered it right away. The curry was incredible! The chef really knows what he’s doing!

My wife and I have been eating up and down the East Coast for a few weeks and hands down one of the best! A hidden gem in Hancock, ME, is about 30 minutes from Bar Harbor. Ironbound, does it right! Fresh oysters picked a few hours earlier and amazing farm to table local ingredients in the main dishes! Great cocktails and local Maine craft beer as well! It's definitely a must if nearby!!!!

I went to the restaurant, which was a great experience. Service was amazing all waiters were extremely friendly although the restaurant was busy. Food was excellent, delicious and fresh.
It was the best Fish and Chips I ever had.
Fully recommend place for dinner.

We love this restaurant and had another wonderful time. The food and service is always amazing. The beer garden area in the back with live music was so nice for after dinner.
Dinner reservations are always a good idea just in case. The place fills up quickly, and with good reason.

Restaurant is the best thing going on the mainland in the Acadia region. Menu has lots of imaginative items and crowd pleasing staples with fresh and local fare throughout. Sonny, our server, was incredible at his job and the cheesy truffle fries were the best $12 I’ve ever spent.

Beautiful and cozy spot with amazing food and drinks. Staff was phenomenally kind and accommodating. I highly recommend stopping here everyone in our party was extremely happy with this restaurant. They also had gluten free options including fried fish - great surprise.

Stopped here after a long day of hiking and exploring and couldn’t have been happier to stumble upon this gem. The staff were amazing and the food was incredible.

Amazing fresh seafood, our meals were incredible! We are also staying here through AirBnb and we highly reccomend. The rooms are comfortable and well decorated, very clean! It’s great having a restaurant right under you. We are only 30 mins from Acadia and we have loved the location and the staff!

Dropped by the Thursday night of Labor Day weekend. In 20 minutes we were seated and very happy. The Oysters, from a relative's oyster farm, were some of the best we've ever had. The meals were expertly prepared and each bite was worth it. The gluten free corn bread is to die for. They were extremely busy but we did not feel it because the wait staff were very attentive. If you are in the Acadia area, avoid the tourist traps and come here for dinner. We've already been back.

One of my fave restaurants in the area, delicious food, fabulous oysters, awesome atmosphere. The scallop & shrimp pappardelle is swoon worthy. Leslie and her team work so hard and it really shows. Reservations strongly recommended, it gets really busy. The outdoor dining is pretty magical but you’ll always find me at the bar! 😉

What an amazing place to find out here in Sullivan. Made reservations via text, which is super convenient. Staff was amazing and very attentive. We ordered the yeast rolls and oysters, the butter on the rolls was incredible. The oysters were super cold and came with a vinegar based liquid in an eye dropper. Never had them like that, but wow…they were good. We all had the burger, scallops and Arctic char. The food was all amazing, the fries…super crispy and delicious. Totally recommend if you are in the area. Off the beaten path so not crazy like the touristy places in Bar Harbor or Ellsworth. Sorry no photos…the food disappeared too fast..:)

I cannot say enough about Leslie and her Inn. We stayed at the Ironbound Inn from July 16 through July 18. I wish we would have added a couple more days. The stay was very comfortable and the room was very clean. We had dinner at the restaurant the night we arrived. Since we were guests and did not have a reservation, Leslie accomodated us and we were able to be seated within the hour. Dinner was wonderful! Everyone was very attentive and our waitress was fantastic. I loved the morning coffee and muffins. Talking with the host (I cannot remember her name) was great. She was originally from Bar Harbor and gave us some information. Before you venture out to any destination talk to Leslie first. We ate at the Jordon Pond restaurant and wished we had talked to Leslie first. Not all that great. We had a great experience. Thank you.
