If you're looking for something to do and enjoy little bits of history knowledge or even just a nice scenic walk, this place is quite nice. I'm not huge into history but it was rather nice learning about all that happened right here! I'm a little bummed that we didn't look more at where horse island was but it was neat learning about all of it. It's a nice walking path around and the view on the water is lovely too! Stroller friendly!

This is so peaceful a park with an extraordinary lake and River view. Bring some pizza and coffee here if possible! You desire an afternoon here!

A great park and historical site right down town… perfect walk or bike with amazing views.

Trail has chronological and educational storyline regarding the War of 1812 and the role of Fort Tompkins.

Didn’t know about this negative history in Sackett. Walked around and looked at the historical sites and red placard’s along the way there is a nice hiking trail about a mile long with parking in several areas.

Great place to visit for learning about history or for eating at small restaurants. Walking trails have posted information about the War of 1812. I highly recommend the area for exploring.

Well preserved 1812 war-time buildings in a park by the water. Great for a walk along the shore. One building seems to have an elevator for accessibility to the front door. Many plaques to read.

Loved this place. I went before the official start of the season, so none of the buildings were open and there were no tours, but I was still able to understand and appreciate the history. I am from the area and it was fascinating to learn about the intense hand-to-hand combat that took place here and the heavy British losses. I had no idea this occurred so close to my home. The battlefield is rather small and it doesn't take long to walk it. The setting is beautiful, with lovely trees and a wonderful view of the lake and a peaceful trail through the woods. I look forward to going again and seeing the place filled with re-enactors.

This is one of my go to spots when I'm visiting Watertown. It's so beautiful and historic. I absolutely love it. There's a walking path with placards that tell about the war of 1812. There are a few historical buildings left that are just stunning. There's a large green space for kids to run around and play.

My wife and I spent a little time viewing Lake Ontario; viewing some of the islands near Sackets Harbor and the open waters west.
We also enjoyed a Ceasar Salad with pizza at Good Fellos.
We both share great memories as we have visited the St Lawrence Seaway, Alexander Bay, Clayton, Cape Vincent, and Sackets Harbor on Columbus Day almost every year.

Citizens recognized this land, where the battle for supremacy took place in the War of 1812,  as sacred ground. In 1905, in preparation for the 100th anniversary of the Second Battle of Sackets Harbor, 100 maple trees were planted.  monument was dedicated by Roosevelt. The Americans lost 153 killed and wounded154 captured

Beautiful small and somewhat secluded little park in the middle of a former American Navy Fort on the banks of Lake Ontario. Definitely worth a visit, take some time and your the building that are there, as well as interact with the reenactors working the area. The views are stunning as well!

James at the reception desk was so friendly and welcoming. Our tour guide, Brennen, was the absolute best! He was a treasure trove of info about the Lieutenants house and its former inhabitants. He was very cordial, informative, and charming. Great job, guys!
