My family was staying in an RV on their site. We brought out five month old and we quickly realized she would keep everyone awake all night. At 11 pm we rushed to the motel to see if there was a room. They were so nice and got out a room quickly. We were so pleased with the quality of the room and how friendly the staff was. They really saved our lives so that everyone could sleep happy and comfortable. Highly recommend! So close to fun at lava hot springs.

This was a one night stopover for us as we were traveling from one job to the next. It was a happy accident that we decided to stay the night in Lava Hot Springs and found this Inn on google maps. I didn’t ask how long the current owners had been there, but it’s clear they are working on a lot of upgrades on property and in the motel rooms. We stayed in room 10, with a king bed. The rooms may be small, but don’t let that deceive you- almost everything was updated with enough outlets that we could charge our phones and Apple Watches over night. The bed was so much more comfortable than those of our previous several overnight stays, the linens were new and immaculate. The tv worked without any issues, good water pressure with good hot water for a shower, and they had chairs and a small table just outside the room door making it extremely convenient to relax and enjoy the fresh air (or for smokers to avoid smoking in the rooms). The room was CLEAN. They have RV pull through spots and tent campsites along the water, as well as a couple of cabins behind the 10 motel rooms and office, and they are in the middle of putting down fresh sod and gravel and added a small beach area (but what wasn’t down already was placed where it didn’t detract from the appeal of the property and campsites). They’ve also planted some trees and shrubs with more to get planted to add to the appeal and add privacy from the road- speaking of which, in our room we couldn’t hear the traffic of the highway even with it being so close- big bonus for a good nights rest. And for the location and how clean it is and all the updates, the price was MUCH more reasonable than motels in town that didn’t look nearly as inviting from the reviews. The owner who checked us in and his family live on site (I think), and it was so refreshing to be checked in by someone so friendly and who obviously has a passion for providing a great experience to everyone who stays with them. You just don’t get that treatment when you stay at 99.9% of hotels that are part of a nationwide chain, and we stay in a LOT of those.

Overall, I would recommend Lost Trail Inn to anyone passing through Lava Hot Springs for just a night or staying here for a vacation. You won’t regret it.

A pleasant surprise! Rooms are immaculate! Small but good use of space. There's a table, armchair and recliner in the room. The noise from the highway is barely noticeable and did not bother us. Beautiful area about a mile away from the hot springs. Families could definitely fit a pack-n-play in the room comfortably. Will definitely stay here again.

The bed is awesome.! So comfortable. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. It’s close to town so very convenient location. The room is a bit small, however it is fine for 2 person. We will stay again!

Stay here. It's a lovely place. Very clean and obvious attention to detail. Our room was very small (rm 10, king bed), no table or desk, but for a night or two it was perfect for two of us. The room was very updated and decorated nicely. I always bring my own blanket and pillow or pillow case when I travel, but I didn't feel the need to use them here. That says a lot for me. One of the nicer details were the lace trimmed sheets. So pretty and soft. The place is literally right off the highway so there is some highway noise and regular trains very close, but another thoughtful detail is a sound machine on the nightstand to drown it out. The grounds are beautiful with the Portnouf river running through. The man that checked us in was nice and when I needed new batteries for the TV remote, he took care of it immediately. The only thing I would change about the room would be to mount the TV on the wall so there is a place to set some things down as there was only one small nightstand in the room.

Lovely place! Pleasantly decorated, clean, with small, nice details like dark rags for makeup removal. The fellow who ran the place called to check on our arrival time and was very personable. Overall a great place to stay!

We love this place. Wonderful accommodations, allows our family and friends to gather with RVs, trailers and tents. Bonus it also has a wonderful remodeled Motel or a couple 2 bedroom bungalows for those who prefer not to camp but still be able to join the fun. Having access to the river and beautiful surroundings makes this our go to Lava destination. Thank you!! We look forward to coming back soon.

Great little spot on the water in Lava Hot Springs. Comfortable King bed with really nice bedding and you couldn’t hear noise from other rooms, the RV area or the road. I let them know it was my husband’s birthday and they left us a root beer float surprise and a nice note, such a nice touch. Loved being a bit removed from town and will stay here again for sure. Bring chairs so you can just sit in the River.

The perfect getaway spot! The rooms were cozy, nicely decorated and felt very clean. The blankets on the bed smelled fresh from the wash and the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve slept on in a long time. The customer service was over the top thoughtful, as they called to check in with us as we were driving into town to make sure we were driving safe in the snow- also asking if there was any additional things they could prepare to make our stay especially great. The fridge and microwave were a nice convenience and the room heater kept us comfortable. The location is right off the highway with trucks and trains passing by which was the only con. They had white noise machines installed next to the beds which kept us sleeping nice and sound through the night. They really consider the guest into every last detail. We will be back!

This was one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in! It’s technically a motel, but it’s cleaner than some Hotels I’ve stayed in. The beds and pillows were so comfy. It was an amazing stay. I was very pleased.

Cute, cozy, clean, comfortable and well maintained. I was in room 1 and it is evident it has had a recent remodel. The bathroom for a small, roadside motel was very nice, including an LED vanity mirror. Mattress was very comfortable, sheets were soft and were actually lace trimmed - great touch! It is by the road but the noise did not bother me. The room has a white noise machine at the bedside, but I didn't need it. I look forward to coming back in the summer to take advantage of the great location on the river - it looks so picturesque!

Great stay. The place has been remodeled recently as our Unit 10 had a new refrig, A/C and heater, and TV. The grounds are well-kept. Food, gas and supplies are available with a short drive. The river runs on one side of the property which offers some fishing opportunities. The sound machine was a nice choice and we fell asleep to a babbling brook. Very impressed, on-site owner, and one of the better values around. Highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed in room 6 last night. It was our second time staying there and for good reasons. Customer service (Amber?) was incredible, funny and friendly. The beds were the most comfortable I had ever slept on. We slept like babies. The room heater was awesome and kept us comfortable. When we woke up we had approximately 6” of new snow on our car and it was still coming down hard. This only added to our experience. We originally had plans of staying at another hotel in Utah but that fell through at the last second. We decided to travel to Idaho to enjoy some hot springs. All in all it was the perfect getaway! Thank you so much! We plan on retuning again and again.

*AMAZING at every turn* It felt like I was at home but better.
From the staff, area, comfort, modern, quiet, nature, river, tubing, charcoal bbq grill for some flavor, covered outside awning with electricity and seating. Tempurpedic beds, Beauty Rest Pillows, and great bedding. AC unit with remote, bedside USB port in lamp. I've stayed in much, much, more expensive places that weren't this nice.

I stayed here with friends for one night and had a great experience. We planned to arrive after the scheduled 9pm check-in time, and the front desk was willing to let us check in later. They also provided recommendations on things to do while in town.
The rooms were also great. Each room had unique art (we rented two rooms), and they were clean and in great condition. I would recommend staying here if you're looking for a cheap place to stay while in LHS.
