We love visiting Lava and staying at Dawson's place. Great people. Gorgeous campground. Well kept and clean. Yes....the train goes by but Lava is in a canyon so you've got the train or the highway. Easily walkable to town too. Can't wait to return!

An excellent and beautifully maintained campground. I like that it quietly sits just right outside the town of Lava. There is lots of grassy area at every campsite for the kids and fur babies to run around and play. The camp host’s Jeff and Penny are super friendly. Our family has enjoyed coming to this campground for the past 2 years and this will always be our favorite in Lava Hot Springs.

The river was right by the campground. It was so fun just to jump in and float down. It was a very nice campground. Dog friendly, keep them on a leash, though. The bathroom is a lot better than most. I wish there was one more. Every camp ground has a picnic table. Very nice overall.

We ended up coming to the campground with our friends for Fourth of July weekend. We are a pretty rowdy group and were nervous from previous reviews. However, our experience was absolutely awesome! In fact we are already planning a trip for next year! Our kids had plenty of fun in the river and even looking at the ducks and geese! Luckily our campsite had bushes in back of it so we didn’t have to worry to much about the little ones with the River! The camp hosts were super friendly and the bathrooms were more than clean. There is a giant field in the middle of the campground we’re all the kids gathered and played ball every night. It was fun to see a bunch of random kids get together. Just an all around great experience! Love Portneuf!

Jeff and Penny were absolutely the most amazing camp hosts we have ever had. They were so helpful and kind. We will definitely be back. The campground was clean, quiet, and beautiful. Hopefully Jeff and Penny will be the hosts next year too. I really can't say enough about them. Thank you guys for making it such a great trip. We loved having the ability to rent the Kayaks and float down the river. 😃🥰

We had a great time at the campground! The staff was super nice and very accommodating. The campground is well-maintained and all camp spots have nice green grass at each of them. Camp spots come with a fire pit and picnic table which was super nice to have. We had great sunsets here too.

We absolutely love this campground. We've been coming here annually for 5 years and the camp hosts for the past 2 years have been amazing!! We have noticed with the new camp hosts that the bathrooms are so well maintained and cleaned on a daily basis. Please keep these camp hosts they are amazing!!! Ropes have since been added to the river to guide you down and help you exit when you need to. Recreational vehicles, tubes, life jackets, ice, etc. are all ready for you easily.

The campground was really nice. The camping areas were nice, mowed, and clean. The restrooms were clean. The hosts were nice. One thing that could be improved upon is running water in the restroom to wash up. We will visit this place again. The stay during the week was very quiet.

We had an excellent stay at this campground! The owners were so friendly and helpful! The river is beautiful and the town is gorgeous! We had 50 amp power and a place to fill the fresh water nearby. There is no dump station, but we were able to dump at the KOA down the road for a fee. We will definitely be back! With the Lava Outdoor Fun Rentals on site, the peaceful atmosphere, and amazing owners there is no other place we'd prefer to be!

Best campground in lava! The river within the campground is so much fun to float! You can rent tubes & kayaks from the campground office which is convenient!

We love this place. The staff is friendly and great to work with. There are several families in our group and we are always able to camp together and have plenty of room as all the trailor and camping spaces are very large. The spaces are grass and not dirt which is great for the toddlers and there moms.
We needed a hose for water to refill the trailor. I asked one of the workers who was driving by on a golf cart if there was one available. He was very friendly and said he would be right back. He came back in a couple of minutes with one. I asked where i could return it to. He said not to worry about it, that he would take care of it, and said that, that is what his job was. I wish I had gotten his name. He was native American.
One of the fun experiences of the place is it's close proximity to the train tracks. This causes some disturbances in the night but is offset during the day when the children get to wave at the train and the engineers blow their whistles. This camp ground is great.

My family & I absolutely loved this campsite! We stayed here last weekend & had such an amazing time. We were a group of 10, grabbed 2 sites right next to each other, had 2 tents set up on both but mainly hung out on one site & there were no issues. We did this at the KOA & they lost it, saying "too many people on one site." So I was a little worried but the staff didn't bother us not once. They were so friendly & provided extra rafts to float down the river (for extra $$ of course, but cheap). There was an exit right next to our campsite & was super convenient, shallow enough for the kids to play. Bathrooms were clean clean! Yes, they are just a hole in the ground but they were constantly being cleaned & no smell. No power pole but it's okay, we didn't need it. Lots of shade. & you get such a great view at night with the stars, it was beautiful. Train rolls by but I feel like that's part of the experience at Lava Hot Springs. We were up past quiet time & no one kept coming around to tell us to be quiet. We were aware of how loud we were being & kept it quiet. After having such a horrible experience at the KOA, we wanted to try something new & decided on this campsite. We were a little worried due to the reviews but gave it a try & loved our experience. We are already planning on coming back next year! Thank you for treating us well, keep up the good work!

Very awesome place to camp. Very clean!!! The host was very kind and respectful. I called to see if I could change our camping spot and she changed it right away. Checking in was very easy. Just so you know, trains do come by. My kids loved it. They loved seeing the trains go by. For sure this will be our camping spot when we come back up to Lava.

We love this place!!! The campground is gorgeous and green with spots all along the river. The hosts showed us the teepee and tents for rent and they were so cute! We rented tubes and kayaks and spent the afternoon floating the river. The campground is minutes away from the town of Lava so it's easy to drive in to town.

The camp sites are extremely well maintained, as are the bathrooms! Only a 3 min drive to the town of lava hot springs and the camp owners are so nice and friendly, I got to talk to Michelle briefly and she was very welcoming and she also has the cutest dog named Jordan! I will for sure be back to camp here again and recommend it to anyone who wants to camp near the hot springs!

Excellent site by the River. Much nicer and less expensive than the private campgrounds nearby. Note: only electric available.
