This is a wonderful and historic place to visit, and I will be returning to do a Medium Format Black and White Photo Shoot to capture the essence and soul this historic location exudes. When you visit, Give yourself and your party at least 90 minutes to take it all in. The more you walk around, the more the history and Western architecture will soeak to you. Everyone who works and volunteers here is friendly and appreciative of your visit. The burros are sweet and friendly and love people. Views from the 9 Mile Ranger Station are spectacular with wide open American prairie reminiscent of the fiercely independent farmer who values and lives off the land here. Enjoy the visit and take it all in, and do be sure to walk around and see all the amazing buildings here.

Beautiful place to visit. The drive up 9 mile was really beautiful to look at and greatly appreciate the views. The buildings look old and cool looking with white siding. We went up in snow but the road was great. highly recommend coming and visiting.

The two volunteers were so friendly and welcoming. They not only had a lot of information about the ranger station and history of the area, but gave us helpful advice for our trip. It was worth stopping by just to meet them. Also the grounds are beautiful and it was nice to see the sweet mules and we even got to ring the fire bell.

We came here on a whim during the off-season and closer to dusk, so there weren't any tours, but the signage clearly explained everything you need to know about this historic ranger station. We were happy we decided to follow our curiosity after seeing the roadside sign, it's worth the stop. Lots of vintage type and handpainted signage if you enjoy seeing that too.

This Ranger station is a working station. The staff and volunteers and the pack animals were very nice and informative.

The place is a perfectly preserved and maintained 1930-40's US Forest Service pack stock ranch, buildings, info center. Still an actively used facility. Kids love it.

Great historical location that is still an active ranger station for the Ninemile mule team. We stopped in to get water after biking over Siegal Pass and had a great time reading about the history and visiting with the volunteer.

Excellent visit to the nine mile ranger station yesterday. Bob and his wife (sorry I didn’t get your name!) were the best! They took extra time to gives us a grand tour of the station. Three generations of our family loved the visit with the horses and the mules. This is a really cool piece of history to visit. Our 9 and 7 year old children said it was their favorite day of our entire vacation.

Super nice staff and so cool to see the history, they also care for Kreis pond in every way (stocking trout, cleaning) I recommend adding a lil extra in the camping envelopes, all proceeds for camping go to the care of that whole place!

Very awesome history, it points out specific lookouts, giant maps of the valley, they help with gold prospecting, which is also a big hit in the valley, lots to do, big ranch, alfalfa smells nice.

Thus was awesome to see as I am an ex firefighter, lots of history here involving firefighters and how extreme the conditions were for them. Super cool place.

I loved the history of it. If you have the time to detours and definitely good way to waste some time and learn some new things. And I love the little gift shop.
