Absolutely a marvelous adventure! The
Staff was outstanding, food was delicious and the Tomlinson family ensured we all had the best experience possible. I cannot say enough good words about the experience. It was thrilling, horses were great, all in the midst of extraordinary beauty in Idaho. If you are a good horseman, definitely consider!

I was actually a giveaway winner for Silver Spur Ranch Idaho, so I can confirm that their giveaways are legit and random. I won back in like January 2021, took my trip July 2022 (due to my schedule). Now its 2024 and I am finally leaving a review so you know they are not paying me to leave a good review. lol

I went by myself and honestly, I would recommend to anyone to go alone too (and I say this as a women who was 23 at the time). It was an amazing experience and I met a lot of amazing people who I’m still in touch with today. I have friends all over the world now who I can drop in on and catch up with. The Silver Spurs family was so great as well! They were all so kind and so fun. Very nice humans.
I have a handful of cattle round up experience and do trail/endurance rides in the Oregon Mountains so I felt right at home on the trip. But even those with little experience did just fine. Silver Spurs gets people from all levels of horse experience so I wouldn’t let your experience or lack of, hold you back form booking a trip. Just make sure you feel comfortable at a gallop (or can at least stay seated during it), know how to stop and how to hold on and you’ll be fine. The staff are great at matching horse and rider and those horses know their jobs.

This trip really did exceed every expectation I had. I honestly cannot say enough good things about them. You have cozy cabins and the right kind of rustic campsite to relax at after every ride. You have an actual shower at the cabins and streams to clean off in while your out camping. You have outhouses at the campsites but on the ride- just a heads up for anyone wondering- you do just have to find a rock/tree or bush to pee behind. The food was excellent, very hardy which is what you need after a day of work on horseback. There was pretty much no cell service so you really got to discount with technology. There’s also a handful of fun activities to do off horseback at the camps too. I brought a book to read and only read it to go to sleep since there was so many things to do and the conversations around the fire were very fun and lively.

I was very prepared for the trip (probably over prepared but I was raised along boy scouts and ‘always be prepared’ is drilled into my soul) so this is what I found super useful: Tight fitting Cowboy hat with chin strip (trust me on the chin strap lots of wind and running, you do not want to be the person who has to stop to pick up their hat). Bring layers (tee shirt, sun shirt, jacket). Also bring the rain coat (disposable ones work too) you never know when the summer storms will hit out in the Mountains. Sun screen & a powered face sunscreen -if you have fair skin like me- the powdered face sunscreen makes it super easy to reapply on the go. Pain relievers because you will be sore unless you are used to riding multiple days a week. I also recommend no more then 3 pairs of jeans or riding britches. They have the best traction under the saddle and there’s really no point to have a clean pair of jeans every day when you are going to be getting that dirty. Just have a clear pair of clothes for the airport and you’ll be golden. A swimsuit is a must though! I brought some riding gloves and was glad to have them. Also bring facial wipes and thank me later.

My last piece of advice for you is to take all the photos. You can always delate them later but you will be so happy to look back on the beautiful landscapes and fun with new friends.
I would share more photos but I don’t want to spoil it. ;)

Excellent adventure! Trip of a lifetime. If you like riding fast and long on a horse this is an incredible adventure. There's nothing like it. But you must be able to ride and be in good physical condition to ride several days in a row all day in all elements. This is not an easy trail ride. Great family and close knit team running this operation. Friendly and fun! Make sure you have your gear, gloves, boots, sunscreen, long sleeve shirts, hat and Advil packed.

What an amazing trip for horseback western style riding! You must have great experience riding western style. You ride for miles, on all different terrain. Was hard for me as I don’t ride a lot anymore, but grew up western style and did some recent lessons to be sure I knew what I was doing. Need to mount your horse by yourself with no help. The long days of riding really do a toll on your whole body, be prepared- this is not a simple trail ride but a horse drive! Fast and hard! You Must keep up!!!

Experience of a lifetime!!! This trip exceeded every expectation I had. The team running the show are one of a kind amazing people; accommodating, kind, encouraging, fun, funny, talented… I honestly can’t say enough good things about them. The horses are also talented and kind, taking care of their riders and making the rides safe, fun and exciting. The terrain we rode across was stunning, the photos and videos just don’t do it justice. The cabins and campsites are all cozy and just what you need. I had not camped as an adult so was a little worried about the outhouses and outdoor showers but honestly they keep everything really clean and easy to use and I enjoyed feeling so connected to nature and the lifestyle. The food was excellent, I don’t eat meat and they were so accommodating for me at each meal, you definitely won’t go hungry! It was so nice not having cell service or wifi, you really get to live in the moment and take in all the beauty around. The other guests in my group came from across the country and world! Everyone was so nice and brave, all just along for an adventure. It was so cool to connect with people from so many different places and backgrounds. When not riding we learned how to rope and use the bull whip, which was so cool. My suggestions are to wear layers, bring warmer items for evenings around the fire, visit the western store in town to pickup some cowboy gear on the way (you get 10% discount if you mention Silver Spur), bring an easy to slip on shoe for showers/ late night bathroom trips and spend some good time in the saddle before coming so you don’t get so sore. I’m an intermediate English rider with little western riding experience but it was easy to adapt. They take lots of pictures and videos for you but it’s nice to bring your own GoPro or camera too. SSR gets 10/10 in my book and I can’t wait to go back!

It was my bucketlist trip of a lifetime and it did not disappoint 😁 I loved everything about it, the beautiful scenery, the warm welcome from the staff that made you feel like you were with family, the charm of the ranch, the amazing food and most of all the horses and the amazing opportunity to ride and feel like a real real cowgirl for a week. Loved every minute and hope to return next year 😁 Thank you all!

Without a doubt, one of the best experiences of my life. Booked my next one before I left Idaho. Came alone and I think that made it better. Meeting everyone in the group and keeping in touch has created friends for life.

This is my third year bringing a group of friends with me to experience the excitement, the adventure and the thrill of a horse drive only Silver Spur Ranch can deliver. Every single year they surpass my expectations and make it a truly unforgettable experience. The horses are beautiful, well-trained animals who are extremely well cared for.

There is nothing more exhilarating than galloping through the mountains in a herd of gorgeous horses and sleeping under the stars. The scenic views of the Beaverhead and Teton mountains are breathtaking and the food is nothing short of a 5 star restaurant. The Tomlinson family and staff are exceptional human beings who make you feel at home and part of the family for the entire duration of your trip.

I’m lucky to have found this incredible slice of heaven and I feel very blessed to be able to bring new friends with me each year to experience the magic and charm of the Silver Spur Horse Drive!!! I highly, highly recommend investing in your memory bank and experiencing the trip of a lifetime !! Can’t wait to come back again next year 🤠🤠

In june 2023 I went on a horse drive. It was fantastic. You are not only busy with horses all day long, but you are also embraced in the family. The whole atmosphere around it makes me want to go back for sure. I have learned some wonderful lessons. “Love your family, work super hard, live your passion.”

There are not enough words to describe the trip of a lifetime. The first and most impactful element is the incredible team of the most genuine and thoughtful Silver Spur hosts and team. They are authentic, heartfelt and attend to every detail of the experience for each guest.

They are diligent in matching horse to rider. By the end of the week, you and your horse will have an amazing connection.

The guests are all uniquely compatible with a common passion. While each guest may have their own purpose, your fellow riders become family.

The ride guides are extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled - always willing to help and provide guidance.

The girls are amazing! They always bring a positive disposition and sunny attitude to every interaction. They do EVERYTHING - from cooking, to camp site set up and breakdown, entertainment.

Speaking of food - it is TOP NOTCH!

The accommodations are ranch perfection- extremely clean. Where else can you hear horses grazing outside your tent.

They are truly thoughtful of every detail to make the experience a dream come true.

It is a wonderfully challenging and rewarding adventure. You do need to be physically fit and an experienced rider. But worth all the advance prep.

I can’t thank Dax, Ky, Bodie, Stetson, Cooper, Shay, Makae, Kate enough for a truly inspiring and life changing experience. It’s an incredible reminder of what’s important.

Just returned from my 3rd horse drive at Silver Spur Ranch. Another 5-star experience! First 2 drives were late summer so wanted to try an earlier week this year. The wildflowers and endless green grasses made for a brand new feel. Can’t wait to go back-already booked for 2024!

As others have said, this was truly an incredible experience. The family is wonderful, the food amazing, views breathtaking and horses sweet and well-trained. That said....I would NOT recommend this trip to anybody that is not in good shape and/or an experienced rider. Its not a daisy chain, nose-to-butt stroll down a trail or a traditional guest ranch experience. It's fast-paced, over all kinds of terrain in high dessert weather conditions. It's very remote, there's no cell signal and can be dangerous if you're not paying attention. I'm a single mom on a budget, and unfortunately they have raised their prices quite a bit this upcoming year so I'm gonna have to save up if I ever go back, but if I have the opportunity to go again, I absolutely will. Cried saying goodbye to everybody I rode with the week I went at the airport, lol.

This trip was a game changer for me, my love for horses and nature was up there, this trip made me fall deeper in love with these magical animals and the beautiful surroundings SSR is nestled in.
I don't think words can describe this trip because visually and physically it will be hard for me to explain. I will start with the amazing loving staff, they are so wonderful and so accommodating, I truly felt at home at all times, even at the outhouse and the tents. Everything was there and ready for us, the operation is incredible and amazing. Bodie and Steston are my new cowboy brothers, I learned so much from them this past week and was very inspired by their abilities to handle thees horses im so grateful. All I wanted to do is stay there, a week for me wasn't enough I want to spend months there to take it all in. The horses were incredible, basically mountain goats, my horse Stormy was so courageous and me and her where daredevils this past week, I trusted her fully, another reason why it's so hard to leave, you bond with your horse during your stay, it's incredible, having my own horses back home is one thing but knowing there is another one waiting for you in the beautiful Idaho mountains is a win. I already booked my next trip while I was there, I'll be back in July 23 SSR fam!!! This time I will leave my Peter pan pants back home I think it will be to hot in July for them 😊.
Shout out to the ladies at the camp you were beyond amazing, please don't forget to send us the peanut butter cookies recipe 😋. Dax God bless you and your family thank you for continuing the family tradition of hosting incredible life changing trips such as these .
See you soon 🤠

An UNFORGETTABLE experience!! If you are in good shape (like can ride for 6 or 7 hours in a day and post for 30 or 45 minutes at a fast trot kind of shape), don't mind roughing it a little (outhouses, sleeping in very comfortable tents), and love to ride hard and fast, this is the experience for you! Breathtakingly beautiful views, amazing/sure footed horses, and WONDERFUL people. Dax, Kylee, Bodie, Shay, Stetson, and Cooper make you feel like part of the family. They are so warm and funny. Delicious/stick to your ribs ranch food and wonderful entertainment at night, whether it's someone playing guitar, singers, or campfire games. The most physically taxing thing I've done in many years, but SO worth it! Nothing like it!

Hands down the best adventure trip I have ever taken. Dax, Kylee and team were incredible hosts! We felt taken care of every step of the way. The rides were exciting and the views were outstanding! We were fed delicious meals and entertained with songs around the campfire at night. Sleeping with the horses roaming around the camp site was a dream! I will definitely be booking again in the future!
