Glacier Bear Lodge Inc

First time back with Glacier Bear's new ownership. The staff is very friendly, willing to listen and answer all questions. The rooms are rustic but very spacious and more than accommodates 2 fishermen with all their gear. Real eggs served at the breakfast buffet and the selection of choices change from morning to morning. Very good lunch and dinner menu also. Guide services available along with drift boat rentals. The Lodge keeps a very well stocked tackle shop upstairs over the restaurant and bar and they also carry a selection of waders and fishing rods for rent. Most fishermen bring their own gear, but you can truly arrive at the Lodge with no gear whatsoever and for a very reasonable cost be outfitted and on the river catching your limit of Salmon. Already have a return trip planned. Thank you to Glacier Bear Lodge staff and new owners.

We had a great time at the lodge and fishing. The cabins were semi-rustic but and clean and functional. Good food and service in the dinning hall. Very nice to have Heavy duty rain gear and waders that were provided by the lodge. Had great guides for both the river and ocean fishing. They worked very hard to keep us rigged up and finding fish for us to catch. The lodge staff was very helpful and friendly. God willing we'll come back again.

SkipperJohn and Brad made the ocean charter so much fun!!! I highly recommend Glacier Bear Lodge for your fishing trips. Can’t wait to go back next year!!

My wife and I had a great time during our stay. Charlie was super friendly when he greeted us at the airport, loaded our bags and showed us to our vehicle. The lodge had very helpful and friendly staff. The food was far better than I had expected. The Halibut Sandwich was the best I had had and the halibut tacos were simply amazing. The staff did a great job of cleaning and preserving our catch and checking on us to make sure we were having a good time. The check out process was super smooth and Pete made sure our fish was sent back as cargo so it would remain frozen for as long as possible. If I return to Yakutat again I will be staying at the Glacier Bear Lodge.

This place is awesome! There isn't a better deal for Salmon and Halibut fishing. Amazing staff with fishing guides who are pro's. Clean rooms, good restaurant, friendly staff. A great value. We did an all inclusive package with lodging, meals, guided fishing w all rods/reels provided AND a private vehicle. Can't say enough good things about this place. Caught limit of HUGE halibut, sockeye and king salmon. Had the time of our lives. Will definitely be back!!! Note: if you wear orange rain boots, Pete will make fun of you. :) Linda and Kent say hi to all the staff!

We bought a package and the entire menu was our limit, breakfast-lunch-dinner and desserts as desired and 50lbs of fish cleaned, vacuum packed and frozen as part of the deal...nice! The Halibut fishing was awesome with bonus fish (Ling cod, coho and rock fish) and the river drifts were equally awesome. Thanks for the awesome experience Pete!!

My family and I WILL be back! Pete and all the rest of the staff are amazing! The rooms are clean and beds are extra comfy. They help with cleaning, freezing, packing, and boxing up all fish! The staff is knowlegable and courteous. The food, great!! Ice cold beer, lots of good people! Thank you Glacier Bear for helping the 10 of us on our journey to bring our dad and uncles home for traditional burial service.

Been twice with huge groups of guys for a week. Who needs wifi and tv?! I swear to you I didn’t miss it once. (Not that I didn’t use it in the lodge). My first trip in 2016 was incredible, and was repeated in 2018. Thanks to covid, our 2020 has been pushed to September of 2022, and I can’t wait! Everyone at the lodge is fantastic, totally at your service making sure your experience is top notch. The food is good, the beds are fine, and it’s my favorite place to disappear from society. I can’t wait to come back and fish my little heart out in September! Thanks Pete and staff for all you do - this is why our massive group comes back again and again.

My buddy and I have been up here twice. The first year was for sockeye and Halibut and last year was for Coho. I have been fishing salmon and steelhead for years but this place is crazy! The situk River is a beautiful place to fish and the salmon are plentiful! Pete at Glacier Bear Lodge and all of his staff take good care of you. We will be annual costumers at Glacier Bay, trust me you will not be disappointed if you go here!
It will be a trip of a lifetime.

Superb fishing. Great staff (Helen, Jaren, Pete, Charlie, CAPT Tim, CAPT Ron) and great food. Rooms were clean and in good order. Overall, great stay, great adventure, great value.

Stayed in Yakutat for awhile, not at the lodge but I ate here 3~4 times and it was amazing food, served in a timely manner and staff was really nice. I don't see an issue with the prices (they're a bit above normal) because, well, it's Alaska and it takes a lot to import food here.

I would reccomend Glacier Bear lodge. I have stayed there 5-6 time and have enjoyed my experience every time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. For steelhead this is the place to go but hire a guide if you don't have much experience with steelhead, they are tricky to catch. GBL has a very good restaurant as well and it is the only one in town with hearty meals. I will be staying there again this spring and can't wait to get there.

I have stayed at GBL 5 times (I go for my birthday, in July, every year). I like that the rates are all inclusive. Wonderful staff, good food, good accommodations.

I have been to GBL twice in the last two years and we have had an amazing experience. The staff are great. The fishing is fantastic.

I have stayed here twice in the past and headed up there today, love this place Pete does a great job with fantastic staff, great food and the fishing is un-believable.

I've never been there but I have watched the TV show and I'd love to see the place someday, for some of the reviews you go there for the fishing and eating and sleeping, ( not ) to watch TV.

Great place, nice folks, and good food! Not a better place to go after a great day of fishing.

You won't find better service while maintaining that rustic Alaska experience.

Bar was well stocked. Laid back atmosphere.
