Briar Patch Marketplace & Cafe

My daughter went and had lunch here on Saturday. It was busy but staff was extremely productive so you didn’t even notice the amount of people. We were also pleased that they had a singer playing her guitar for us. It was very nice. I would definitely recommend this place. They never disappoint.

We visited for lunch on a Saturday. The cashier was very helpful with the menu and describing what they had to offer. All of the staff was helpful! Their bathrooms were clean. We enjoyed the tomato bisque soup and pimiento cheese grilled sandwich. It was very delicious. They first brought out a regular grilled cheese but when we pointed out the mistake we were quickly provided with the correct sandwich. They have a lot on their menu I look forward to trying! Once you eat you can proceed to the marketplace and browse everything on offer. Lots of antiques and some new items. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a conversation with the cashier where he inquired about who we were and why we were visiting. Will be going back again!

The food and service is fantastic. The Briar Patch menu has a great variety. Often there is live music on Saturdays. Be sure and visit for breakfast or lunch when in Galax, Virginia!

It was our first time here and we absolutely loved this place! The food was amazing, great friendly service, and the atmosphere was so cool! The upstairs and downstairs shops were great, we all bought something. The record store downstairs in the back corner was my favorite!

We order often for to go orders, we will be stopping after today. There is ALWAYS something missing from our order, whether it be chips or the side, sometimes an entire meal. Today it was a soup. The parking situation is always kinda messy, and the woman who works the register is never very friendly. It's a shame because the food we do get in our orders is always really good.

*updating my review: I went back a few times since this review and everything was great! Whatever the issue was they have gotten it figured out. Plus their offer below to make things right, was a huge plus! The ladies working there gave my wife a good laugh about my user name! Thanks for being awesome y'all! 💜 Fat Rat!

I traveled to Galax for work from Richmond, VA. I got the Miss Piggy with Cole slaw for take out and it was the best barbecue and cole slaw that I have ever eaten.

I grew up in Galax! Whenever I visit, I cannot wait to eat at the Briar Patch! The food is always fresh and delicious! The staff, always so friendly and accommodating!! The BEST restaurant in Galax!! 10 stars isn’t enough!!

It was super cute inside.. I love the vintage look with the Cafe inside. It is a great way to bring customers new and older in ❤

Came here after work for a quick lunch, got the pimento and bacon sandwich and soup. Absolutely delicious 👌 server was very patient with me as I took in the menu.

Coffee + Antiques = pure bliss
I come study here a lot because they have so many seating options along with the perfect aesthetic. I often take breaks to walk around the store part to look through all the antiques. Overall, this place is a true charm.

The food was phenomenal. I got their version of a Cuban and it was delicious. And their Mac and cheese can revial and I can make at home. So delicious. They serve breakfast and lunch all day. Can't recommend enough 🤤🤤🤤

Great food with amazing coffee it's a hidden gem. When this covid-19 is done I can't wait to go in the building and chill and play animal crossing. 10/10

This is a hidden gem in Galax! We discovered it years ago while antique shopping and have been returning customers since. Great soups, sandwiches , coffee drinks and ICE CREAM! Charming and great customer service. They also have music frequently which adds to the charm.

Awesome place! Food is great but holy record batman!! The basement has Dave's Records...60k plus records and Dave is one of the best people!!

Never had a bad meal at Briar Patch. Sandwiches are all excellent, fairly priced, service always courteous. Outstanding deserts. Best restaurant in Galax.

This was my first visit and I was truly impressed . The atmosphere was relaxing and friendly. Since I'm meticulously neat person I pay attention to detail. I witnessed the staff taking extra time to clean the kitchen. The dining area was very neat and clean and the seating was sufficient. . The food my wife and I ordered was very fresh and tasty. A great selection of hot meals, sandwiches, desserts and coffee drinks are on the menu. This business also sells antiques and lots of unique items related to Southwest Virginia. Downtown Galax has added new shops and restaurants and the area is being modernized. We will definitely be returning again.

Coffee and smoothies were amazing. The coffee was rich with the perfect match of sweetness and acidity. The service was great both times I visited. Having the marketplace in the Cafe is brilliant. My family had an amazing time roaming around looking at the endless treasures. Definitely recommend!!!

Mr. Piggy, three meats and slaw, was great. The sauce was quite delicious.
