During our Sunday overnight camp stay at the Johnson Shut-Ins state park we initially visited to check it all out. The River Store is open during weekends only at the head of the trail and both changing rooms and washrooms are adjacent and stay open during the week. Access Point 1 is an easy .2 walk down paved trail to experience the water. Access Point 2 brings you to the boulder s to have fun climbing and winding through to the larger pool. Access Point 3 delivers you to a high point to follow a hard steep decline trail to maneuver through the waters edge boulders to sit and dangle your feet, sit into boulder chairs or take a refreshing plunge. We revisited the trail on Monday to enjoy more solitude as there were only about 10 cars at the trailhead. Definitely recommend!

We hiked the complete loop trail clockwise in late March 2022; it was pleasant weather for the approximately 2.5 mile loop. It is a great hike! The first section from the parking lot to the Shut-Ins is very easy with boardwalks and railings. After that there are a few steep sections, especially just after the trail climbs out away from the river and the trail is a little hard to follow in a few places, but no too bad. I would rate it as moderate. We were too early for the deciduous trees to have leaves, so we were able to have nice views through the trees. Highly recommended.

This is an amazing place. Natural water park when flow is safe. One area to enter is shallow and calm the other takes you to the white water. Huge park with large meadows and multiple shelters. Visitors Center at the trailhead has lockers, change rooms, and bathrooms. There is also life vest rental. Make sure that you plan your visit for the right time. After a good rain the water will be too high. Call ahead to check water level.

The Shut- Ins are a must see just for the nature, the beauty and hike to the back of the bluff. But the park has camping, a store(closed during off months), and is great to wade or swim in,,,,at your own risk!

Nice easy boardwalk to shut in area from main parking lot. Long walk from overflow parking.

Water fountain is available at beginning of trail and there's a store with snacks and water, as well as souvenirs.

This place is definitely a hidden jam in Missouri. Make sure to wear shoes you don't mind getting wet and with a good grip. Goggles are also advised to you want to see the fish in the clear water.

Great place for hiking and swimming. I recommend bringing water shoes, sunscreen, and band-aids. Big rocks to climb on and jump off of.

Have gone here since I was a kid really like how it was restored. Wish the camping was still on the property but they give you a bike trail from camp
