The Vasquez 1935

I came to show my respect. We all know what happened at Robb elementary. I search for a near Mexican restaurant checked out the reviews and I said why not here! As soon as I walked in the place was very clean . However I wasn’t convinced about the food. I fear it was going to be not so great food..but I was wrong. The drinks came in cans with a cup of ice. Which was great nothing but fresh soda. Ice tea was very tasty not to sweet just right. The food was GOOD!! I will come back again. The food hits Abuelita’s kitchen for sure! The restrooms are clean and has space along with a baby Changing table so daddy can change baby too😊….you won’t be disappointed. Will come again. Prices are fair services awesome….

Visiting the area we traveled to Uvalde and found this gem. We recommend if in the area to stop by. The history behind the restaurant is interesting, it is super clean...bathrooms included, Jewels our server was very kind and kept the tea glass filled, and the food was delicious! Definitely will go back before we leave the area. Oh, and we had the opportunity to visit with one of the owners who was so sweet. (I think Lori.)

Had lunch at Vasquez and it was amazing! The “Henry” was an excellent enchilada combo plate! Met the owner “Quique” who’s grandmother started the restaurant in 1935. Enjoyed our visit and learned a lot of interesting history about his family’s restaurant. Service was excellent also! Thanks Zulema! If you stop in be prepared to wait a few minutes longer as all the items are made in house and takes a little extra time but it’s worth the wait!!!!

So I tried eating here for the first time. I promise that it will not be the last time!! These Enchiladas are really really great!! Norma my waitress was really nice and very attentive. One of the owners Lori also came to my table and greeted me. Super great people. I'll be back!!!!

We chose the restaurant for dinner because of all the rave reviews about their enchiladas. They did not disappoint! Absolutely amazing and looking forward to a repeat visit. Great customer service, thanks Zulema and Cathy!!!

Came back a year and a half later because we live out of state. Food is excellent. Puts all other enchiladas I have had to shame.

Home-style cooking turns Tex-Mex into good-for-the-soul experience where the food gives you a warm hug from the inside.

Careful preparation, REAL ICED TEA, and a history. A multi-generational restaurant, the staff tell stories and the space has lots of restaurant history posters and photos, like the World Chilli Cook-Off 1971 poster! If you want to feel a little joy as you drive through town, stop in and leave a little happier for the experience!

I loved eating here! The staff was so friendly and helpful. Our server, Norma, took great care of us. The food came out fast and fresh. Perfectly crunchy black bean tostadas, tasty beef on the crispy tacos, and the cheese enchiladas were perfectly cheesy. Accompanied by well seasoned refried beans and rice with a deep roasted garlic flavor, the best rice I've had in Texas!
Their 87th Anniversary is tomorrow, May 6th, and they are definitely doing it right. Congrats! We'll be back soon!

Driving through and stopped by for no reason. Glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious, sweet owner and staff. Will be stopping by whenever we're in this town. Totally recommend:)

Henry is part of the ambiance here. He’s as friendly as a host can be. Great traditional Texmex food.

Update: Henry has left us but the Vasquez family has continued the tradition and made it better. ALL the food is fresh and delicious. I’ve tried most of the items on the menu and it’s hard to decide on a favorite.

The BEST Tex-Mex restaurant in Uvalde, and surrounding areas! Establishment is CLEAN, and beautiful. The staff and owners are always friendly and welcoming! Food is consistently fresh and most importantly DELICIOUS. A must try if you haven’t been!

Awesome Experience! We loved everything! The Chicken Enchilladas were on point! The staff was so awesome and Lori came and shared their story and vision for the place! The queso dip was made from scratch moments before ordering and you could tell!

Came here on a Friday afternoon and had a great experience! The owners came to greet me when I sat down, and told me about how this is the oldest restaurant in Uvalde. I ordered the Q burger (available only on Fridays and Saturdays), and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was super juicy, and really nicely seasoned. Overall great service and great food !

I hardly eat out because I love cooking at home; but when I do, I will support local business. It's usually breakfast time if I eat out but today I worked from 8am to 5pm without a break or eating. Im super tired and I didn't want to cook, but more importantly I didn't want to wash dishes afterwards 🤪
The food was amazing! It tasted homemade. All your staff today was interactive, helped each other with their tables and the food came out hot and in a timely manner. If I get more evenings off, you'll be seeing me more often when I'm too lazy to cook 😁

Some of the best Mexican Food we have ever eaten. Enchiladas, Tacos, Rice and Beans are authentic with excellent flavor. The food was served in a timely manner, perfect portion size, sizzling hot, crispy taco shells., soft, tender, cheesy enchiladas,. The serving team and owners are knowledgeable, efficient and a delight to chat with. Restaurant and bathrooms are spotless. Decor is charming Tex-Mex Modern. They offer take and cook at home options, single or party sizes.

Vasquez is a little off the beaten path but worth every minute!

The food was awesome! Owners happened to be there when we went, awesome people that are very passionate about how they cook their food! They told us how they refuse to cook food by cutting corners or not making everything by hand! They make amazing nachos (with fresh cheese 🫠) and completely blew me away with their beef enchiladas! Highly recommend if you are going through Uvalde!!

I stopped here with a friend after a work trip to Del Rio. The food was fantastic! Very fresh! Friendly, inviting atmosphere inside with some regular locals dining in. Our server Jannet did a great job. She was super on top of it. And we got to chat with Laurie and learn about the history of the restaurant. Definitely plan to come back here! A+ food, atmosphere, and service!
