Jersey-Calhoun Veterinary Hospital

In December, 2023, recognizing that we were going to add two kittens to the two adult cats that we already had, we felt the need to find a different veterinary clinic. After researching about six clinics, we found Jersey-Calhoun Veterinary Hospital would accommodate us in a timely manner and was reasonably priced. Unfortunately, we have had to use them about six times since December (neutering, sickness, injuries, etc.) We have always found them to show concern for the health of our animals and very quick to get the cats in for help. We have had 3 of the 4 doctors (haven't had Anna yet) and they have been great - more like friends than doctors. We, plus our four "furbabies" would highly recommend this hospital/clinic (a plus for Dr. Mark).

Staff was great. The vet was very nice and explained everything that he was doing and answered all my questions. Liz, the vet tech was very "sweet" with my timid, little dog so she wasn't afraid.

All the staff is always warm and friendly to me and my dog. Hospital is immaculate. They remind one of the appointment. I'm very happy they care for my dog. I trust their advise.

I know Fritz is sick and you all take such good care of him and always make me feel like I am doing the right thing. Thanks so much for loving him too. You guys are the best!!!

I have been coming here for years, nobody has ever given better care to my furbabies than here!! The love & compassion they show for the animals is the best!! When my sweet girl passed away, I will never forget the compassion towards me & my baby that everyone showed me!! 💕💕💕

I take my pup, Bear, there once a month to get groomed. The girls are very nice and they do a terrific job.

The staff was kind and attentive to my elderly dog. They took the time my dog needed and explained what I wasn't understanding. The doctor was prepared through reading his notes or memory, probably both, and reminded me of some of my dog's imaging results and their possible current and future effects. The doctor is trying to prepare me for the loss of my last dog and how it may go down. I am grateful for that.

This entire veterinary service from the doctors to the vet techs to the people at the front desk have, over the years, been nothing but helpful and compassionate. I am old, poorly dressed, female, and short, not a power person at all. I am a person that is often dismissed but not by these people.

The desk staff seems disinterested in their jobs and a little rude. BUT the younger Vet was absolutely amazing with my dog. Addressed all of my concerns and took time while looking her over. You can tell he genuinely cares about what he does.

The staff is great. They know me and my pets. I never have a concern as to the care they get whether it's grooming, boarding or other care.

We had to put our senior dog down, the staff were so compassionate and understanding it didn't make the very hard decision any easier but it was comforting.

Dr. Dave Wendell is the very best vet ever. He answers all my questions not only on health issues but temperament too. His advice has always been spot on and any surgical procedures successful. We have remained clients even though we now drive 45 minutes to his office. He is truly the kindest, most knowledgeable veterinarian we have to in 25 years.

I've heard a lot of people say that JCVH is to expensive. I see it as, you get what you pay for. Everyone at JCVH takes care of my dog, Muffin and cat, Minnie as if they were there own pets. Muffin has been through a lot over the past 10 years and they are the reason that she is still alive and thriving.

I have been coming here for years. My previous pets have been seen by two of the Dr's and my new pets have been seen by the new Dr Wendell so pleased with them all. And the staff these girls are the best including the grooming. I always feel like my questions are answered and my pets are well taken care of. Great job Jersey-Calhoun Veterinary!

I have been taking my pets to Jersey-Calhoun for almost 20 years. They have the best staff around, excellent pet care, are always up to date with new flea/heart worm prevention, and my pets always love them.

When my dog Biscuit had pancreatitis they always made time to see him. When I had concerns about Biscuit the vets also made time to take my calls and answer my questions. Without Jerseyville veterinarian's I don't think my pup would have made it.

My 10 pound 15 year old Chihuahua-Mini Pin Mix (Mario) had a very large Lipoma growing on his front leg, another vet told me not to worry about it as long as it was not bothering him, well after about a year it started bleeding and became infected, I went back to that vet and he told me it needed surgery but he could not do it and recommended Jersey-Calhoun Veterinary Hospital, They quoted me between $500-$900 as an estimate, I said that's fine. I was very nervous because my dog was in bad shape and so old, but the surgery was a success, and when I went to pay it was only $400, I would like to Thank the Vet who did Mario's surgery, I really think it takes a very special kind of person to do surgery on animals and keep them alive! My dog was never afraid of getting out of the car and going into the Vet on all of the follow up visits for dressing changes, like he always was with another Vet in Alton! Sometimes the office can be very busy, but they are professional, honest, and care! I think it's a sign of an excellent Vet when the price is under the estimate & my dog was never frightened to go inside!

These veterinarians truly care about providing the best care for you pets. They are all extremely knowledgeable and professional. The rest of the staff are amazing as well.
