Delicious and a unique Kosher dining experience. The decor is very nice and the outside is deceptively bland compared to the beautiful inside. Although we did not get to use the tatami room with only 2 people, it is beautiful and hopefully next time we will be able to dine there.

The owners are great! KYO has been a dining staple for many years. They have some very interesting appetizers and entrees. A little pricey but it's glatt kosher so expected. I love the Asian inspired booths.

The restaurant is beautiful and the food is fantastic! I have to say it's the best sushi in town by far. And the Beef Bulgogi - was delicious and very well balanced! We also had the beef gyoza and miso soup, all made to perfection! I highly recommend this restaurant. It's got a classier feel, and they also have some side stalls for people who want a more Japanese seating experience (we sat normally). The menu is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, and it's really good. This place is good for dates and more controlled family outings (better with older family members - in my opinion).

While the place is a bit dated, the food is consistently delicious, well spiced, and wonderfully authentic. Too many guests go there in a rush, or act like it's a marathon for who can be in, eat, and out the soonest. This place deserves patience. It's worth it. Compared to the other restaurants around Monsey, it is very well priced, and their portions are generous. The service is a little abrupt, but again, compared to others, I have no complaints.

You are reading a review...so you must care about what I have to say....or have waaaaay to much time on your hands.... seriously, check out YouTube or something if your bored.

That being said, this place is a hidden gem. Not so hidden that people don't know about it but more hidden in the way that people really forgot about it. This place used to be the hottest place to go in this area. But then newer and fancier and more well lit places opened and people moved on to these shiny new places.

However, this place consistently has absolutely amazing service. If you can't find something to your liking on their menu you are not looking hard enough. There are few things that are always delightful when you go there. Soups are great their main's are great and their desserts are awesome....tampura ice cream? Yum!

Are the dishes a bit dated as some of the reviews said? Yes. Is the ambiance dated? not really sure what that means considering it's meant to look like an old Japanese restaurant.... It's not modern and Chic looking.... But it is homey, you are well taken care of, the prices are okay and the food is great ....and it's consistently great.

So yeah, this place is awesome and you should go there and discover it or rediscover it for yourself.

Also they have these cool privacy booths for parties or even just a romantic getaway and while it's not the most soundproof of places it is nice to have a walled-off booth to yourself.

Enjoy!

Did I mention they serve tempura ice cream?

Kyo is an authentic Japanese steakhouse with great ambience, excellent food, and attentive service. It is ideal for business dinners, important dates, anniversaries, or parties. They have meal options for children, making it a great option for a family outing. The Ramen, Bento box, and tempura ice cream dessert are definitely worth trying out. Dining in the booths in traditional Japanese style is lots of fun! One of my favorite and most frequently visited Monsey area kosher restaurants.

My friends and dear employers from the past..will be working for them again, after Sukkot (pronounced "sue coat") on 10/15/17, Sunday.
btw, they've got terrific food !!
Come try it...I am certain the clientele will also be terrific, as I personally admire and understand the people of this faith (Judaism).

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent decor. For what it is, prices aren't too bad ... figure about $45/person for dinner and about half that for lunch.
