I stopped here for dinner today. It is Friday. They had a lot of options for their fish fry. They had everything from cod to walleye. I got the bluegill! It was delicious. I really liked the tarter sauce, it had large chunks of pickles in it. It came with a choice from a long list of items for a side. I got the garlic red potatoes. And the dinner came with the soup and salad bar! All for a great price of $14.99. It was a great deal! Great food and great service. I give this place two thumbs up for tonight's dinner.

This where to sit. What are number of party was. They have special deals every night. 1399 for unlimited bone in wings on Wednesday night. 14.99 for unlimited boneless wings on Wednesday night. The guy crossed me had shrimp and ribs. He said it was good. Both of us had baked potato and was good.

We came here in a recommendation from a friend. And we had breakfast. Our waitress took care of us very well. We ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast, and the meat lovers omelette. The chicken fried steak meal was the best we've had in a long time. The meat lovers omelette was amazing full of meat they weren't skimpy. Plan to get to the Sunday morning brunch there I hear it's amazing. Come check this place out 🥓👍👍👍👍

The food is always great. Lisa provides awesome service. Wait times can get pretty long during peak times. Grab a beer and be patient. One of the best Friday Fish fry in the area. And, by far the best salad bar.

First time ever going to this restaurant, decided to go on a Friday for their Friday Fish Fry. They offered a good variety of different fish to choose from cooked multiple different ways. Seating is a wait list but turn out is very quick. Our waitress was on top of her game and very helpful with any and all questions.

The best little restaurant we’ve been to in a good while. Prices were fair, food extremely tasty, and our server attentive and small town friendly. Will definitely stop again if we find ourselves in the area again.

This is such an awesome place to grab breakfast! Everything is delicious and service is fantastic.
They are close to closing for good so hopes the Portage common council chooses not to allow development on Aug 24, 2023!! Keep the hitching post open!!

We had a fantastic breakfast here, and the service was top-notch. There is no doubt that we will be there again, and often. The pricing was very reasonable too. We noticed the brunch buffet when we were leaving, and that looked incredible as well.

Came here after a day of skiing. Staff was friendly, cozy atmosphere and of course Spotted Cow on tap. Reccomend the skunk burger or something from the dinner specials. Will go again!

Great prices and awesome service with our waitress Heather and the cooks did amazing with the food. Will be returning here again, the bloody Mary's are also a hit with some spice added. Love it.

We had a delicious meal. We will definitely be back. We had their specials of, open faced beef sandwich, and chicken and ribs. Both came with soup and salad bar. We will be back.

This place is amazing! First off, the Old Fashion I ordered was top level delicious. Service was friendly and quick. And the food was yum! I highly recommend visiting here!

We loved the food here. The salad bar was fresh and well stocked. They offered 2 soups plus chilli. Chicken dumpling was awesome. I ordered 12 oz ribeye and it was prepared exactly how I ordered it. Melted in my mouth. Waitress was friendly and attentive. The prices were moderate and the food was well worth the amount on the check. Would highly recommend and we will be back.

Great sandwiches! The Reuben here is delicious! The prices are reasonable. I highly recommend for a business casual lunch environment!

The Hitching Post is a nice down-to-earth diner that has not only your usual breakfast and lunch fixin’s but also some unique options that add a little variety to more adventurous eaters. When I was there, I grabbed the Oscar’s Omelette; a Crab Meat and Asparagus Omelette with Mozzarella Cheese and topped with Hollandaise sauce; A tasty subtle savory breakfast that I quite enjoyed in the morning. For those not super adventurous or indecisive they have a nice breakfast buffet. Tons of seating space. Very homely, even when it’s busy. I definitely recommend the Hitching Post next time you find yourself in Portage!

The Asparagus Soup was fantabulous!!! The service was Top Notch friendly efficient, clean and entertaining. The waitress turned our day around. The salad bar attend it, an even match. They were 😊. Thank you for the kindness and wonderful food.

We had the best food and the best waitress (Lisa).We called the restaurant and Lisa gave us exact directions,because we are not from this area.She was as personable and friendly as any waitress we have ever had.Exellent salad bar and the best sea- food fettuccine.We will be back as soon as we get through that area again.Best regards,Clarence and Bill

The waitress was extremely kind despite being the only one present at the time remembered my order and most importantly my steak was cooked to perfectectly medium rare.

Food is always hot and delicious and the service is great, breakfast is always recommended. The staff is attentive and the atmosphere is welcoming.
