Causeway Chalet Bar n' Grille

Went to this place for the first time in a long time. The two owners have put so much into this place since last time I was in. Clean, fun, and great staff. With the new tvs, it might be the best place to watch sports in the valley. The people were very friendly also. We will definitely be going back!

Edit: 5 stars as of Feb. 2024. Old review: Giving 3 stars for the menu because they keep changing it around. Other than that this place is a go too. New review: They upgraded the atmosphere and menu. There is live music sometimes and a legit juke box. The people that hang here are great. Highly recommend. My only suggestion would be they add Cod Fish and Chips to the menu with some fire tarter sauce.

Cute little dive bar that isn't a dive at all! Reliable selection of beers and cocktails, plenty of space at the bar and in the dining room, bar food that is way better than your usual bar food, and friendly, attentive staff. The cherry on top? Clean bathrooms!

I saw the recent review of this place and felt I needed to respond. The food and service here continues to be great. The drinks are always full and never diluted. The atmosphere is perfect for a local bar. All I have listed above are the reason we keep coming back on a regular basis, and why we will continue to bring our friends and family here for a good time.

I'm coming through Helena, Hover dam the other day.,. On a Saturday evening of heavy winds on lake Helena kayaking. I'll give this a try (never know what your gonna get) bar on the left, open grill on the right. The menu is simple. However If you know anything about smoked meats and left overs, and the after taste, after 12 short hours in the fridge. I had the pulled rib sandwich. And it was one of the best sandwiches I've had!! Granted it, the only topping it came with was onion and pickle with a toasted bun. ( Honestly I didn't think it would taste like nothing more than a pulled pork sandwich). However from what I learned you can not discount anything face value. And thus I started picking off the meat to get a taste of the flavor the fabulous cook created. (Forgive me I can't remember his name.) And what a beautiful creation he has duplicated!! And I'd like to give thanks to the bat keep! ( sorry don't remember names well!) However he kept up and asked if drinks were getting low and had a meaningful conversation. If you have the chance, I highly recommending coming here and enjoying your self after a great afternoon from the water ways of Helena Mt!!!

Just left from lunch, bartender was great, food was super good.

Great food and atmosphere! Ryan was bartending and I believe the cook was "Sonnie." Had Philly cheese steak and a brisket sandwich with onion rings. Then after the prime rib came out of the smoker it smelled so good we bought four pieces to have at home next day. It did not disappoint. We'll be back with family for more!

Great atmosphere and food. The owner makes the food and bartends so don't be in a hurry. The neighbor might pitch in to help if needed but not a place to have a quick bite. Its good but not fast.

Good food, good service, good music, good people, good location. A comfortable place to swing by on your way to the lake. Wish there were more places like this left in montana

Awesome! I don't know where these comments are coming from about Mika and Crystal bc I think they are the only reason it is still open. It was sliding downhill until they started working there and they are turning it around. We love this place! Good food good drinks and the people are awesome.

Great service, good atmosphere, wonderful lake and mountain views from the deck. Really tasty food. Full service liquor bar. I'll definitely be going back.
