We booked our White pass Yukon pass train ride with the Laughton glacier hike through our cruise line. We give this 20 out of 5 stars. It was amazing. Our guides Whitney and Josh were awesome and really knowledgeable. We are seriously considering a longer hike/camping experience because of them. If you’ve ever wanted to hike onto a glacier and drink water directly from its source, this is the excursion for you.

Awesome outfit! Can't say enough good things about the trip and especially our guides. Austin, Karissa and Michaela were amazing! Not only were they knowledgeable and smart, they were fun and humorous. They were always safety conscious and explained things along the way. We got to eat various berries and plants. We drank cold glacier water and saw incredible views. Loved this excursion immensely.

Absolutely fantastic. Ride up on the helicopter was amazing and then the hike was fantastic with tons of scenery and great learning. The train ride was very cool too. Packer Expeditions in Scagway, AK is THE BEST.

This was absolutely amazing and our guides, Cannon & Whitney, gave us great information and getting to hike on a Glacier was an experience for the books. 100/10 would recommend.

Sawtooth Mountain Hike & White Pass Railway
We had an absolutely great time with some VERY knowledgeable guides and a challenging but doable hike for a couple of out of shape but otherwise healthy adults. Bring bugspray and maybe wear pants.

We went on this excursion as part of a Norwegian cruise excursion. Karissa met us at the port and along with another group and we traveled to the train depot by van Karissa answered questions from everybody and gave us a lot of great info about Skagway and the area around it. Fitz met us at the train where we took a lovely but short (5 mile) train ride on the White Pass railroad into Tongass National Forest. We were dropped off at Denver Valley while the rest of the train moved on. Fitz and Karissa led us on a short hike (4-ish miles) through the valley along the east fork of the Skagway River. My husband and I are used to walking that distance at home on a flat green way and this trail definitely had move elevation change than were used to but not an unmanageable amount, just enough to make it a bit of a workout. Plenty of opportunities for breaks and pictures along the way. Some hikers were a bit more in shape so the group did split to let them get a ahead and go a bit further than us so we did end up splitting time with both guides. Karissa shared a lot of her knowledge about local plant life, including some of the uses of some of the plants. It was super interesting and I may have bought some Devil's Club salve at a shop at the next stop. Fitz apparently normally leads kayaking, and participates in a lot of other activities in the area like skiing, camping and hiking, so we got a lot of info about other things to do around the area if we come back. We hiked out and back on the same trail and met the train for a short ride back to Skagway for some more touristy in town activities on our own.

Summed up, very lovely scenic hike, more difficult than just walking down the street but not necessary to be a frequent hiker. Great and knowledgeable guides who know a lot about the area and great specific information about local plants and wildlife.

We had an awesome experience with the guides from Packer Expeditions. Our only regret was not taking the longer hiking/kayaking trip option. If we ever find ourselves back up this way, we will definitely find ourselves with them again!

We booked a Denver valley hike and white pass railway trip with Parker expeditions in Skagway through the Holland America cruise line. It was amazing! We had a group of 14 and we had 3 guides with us. The guides went above and beyond to make sure we had a great day. They carried everything we needed to make our hike as easy as possible. They stayed with us on the train ride as well and answered questions. What a memorable day! I highly recommend Parker expeditions.

Wonderful Kayaking experience! I have kayaking experience and enjoyed the trip thoroughly and several members of our group had no experience but quickly were able to cruise across lake Bernard. The train ride was definitely worth it and they have high quality hats they sell for only $10. I don't usually buy stuff from gift shops but this was a good deal for me. Highly recommend the kayak/train combo!

My husband and I took the Denver Valley hike yesterday and it was fantastic! Guides were fun, informative, personable and really accommodating. It was a marvelous experience, the sandwiches they made were exactly right for the atmosphere and we loved the small group experience. 10 stars!

My friend and I did the Denver Valley hike and rail as an excursion at the Skagway stop while on the Holland America Alaska cruise. We spent the day with Whitney, Erin and Cannon. We met them at 8am and finished the tour at around 330-4pm. We split into three different groups so we could go at different paces and go different distances. Cannon led our group, and he stopped along the way to teach us about the ecology of the forest.

Notably, they were well-prepared for the hike. They had everything one would need on the tour - Fanny packs, snacks, water, warm clothes, hiking poles. They even brought gluten free bread for my sandwich at the end of the hike! We would definitely recommend their group if you’re in Skagway. Apparently, you can coordinate specific hikes and/or camping with their group.

We had the pleasure to be on one of their hiking tours. I would say one of the best tours we have been on.They were knowledgeable and fully prepared. sandwiches, gloves, rain coats, rain pants. all you can think of. We made sandwiches to be eaten during the hike and also offered hot drinks at the glacier. They were also patient and explained all the plants flowers along the way. I would totally recommend them. Picture is with one of our awesome tour guide Paige. ohh I forgot to mention the tasty salmon pate with crackers on the end.

Exceptional guides! Our group had 6-7 guides and everyone single one of them were friendly and knowledgeable. Erin was phenomenal. She freely shared her Indepth knowledge and love of the environment. We booked directly with Packer rather than through the cruise ship because the ship excursions were booked well in advance, plus it saved us some $$. We were not part of the cruise ship excursion group and we had our own guides but we traveled with the cruise ship participants so there was no worry about time or running late. Definitely recommend this tour company!!

I would highly recommend this tour group! Our guide, Ben, was knowledgeable and funny. He made our 5 mile hike even better. The train ride after was amazing. Great views, even with foggy weather. This group knows how to make your experience in Skagway the best it can be!

We had an absolutely fantastic time! We booked through Princess Cruises and didn't know exactly what to expect. We were picked up right off the boat, walked to our train as we learned about the history of Skagway. The train ride was great, even in the morning when the fog was dense. When we go to the trail head we made tasty trail sandwiches. The hike itself was not super strenuous and we learned so much from our guides about the foliage and scenery around us. When we reached the glacier, we were blown away. Words cannot describe it. Go see it for yourself with Packer Expeditions. It really was a fantastic time!

We used Packer Expeditions as our guides for our Laughton Glacier hike. From my experience today, I recommend them highly. They thought of everything. Rain jackets, water, snacks, super knowledgeable guides, hiking poles, belt packs.

I had an amazing experience with Packer Expeditions on their heli-hike! Their guides were professional, fun to be with, and very knowledgeable about the local history and plants. The helicopter ride was absolutely stunning, and the hike that meandered through the valley took my breath away. On the train ride down we were all treated to a few fun stories about the gold rush. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great day in good company and unbelievable scenery.

Laughton Glacier hike was incredible! We had the BEST guides, Bre, Fitz and Randy (if you guys read this... My dad is the one who had that little tumble at the top 🙃) were all so patient and kind. Would definitely recommend this company for any tours! Can't wait to go back!!
