I found Skagway Summit Tours while internet searching for something special and unique to do with family and friends while in Skagway on a cruise. You see, Alaska and this area has always been a bucket list item for me that I knew I had to see to truly appreciate. I over researched as I always seem to do and I contacted several companies before I found what I was looking for. I called Dennis a couple of weeks before my arrival in Skagway to assess his demeanor and check his availability. He was out with a tour so I left a voice message. He returned my call before the end of the day. After a short phone call about what Skagway Summit Tours offered, I knew this was exactly what I was looking for. I scheduled the date I would be in town and Dennis and I agreed to touch base closer to my trip to confirm details.

If you have traveled with a group of family and/or friends, you are fully aware of how flexibility is key to meet the needs and requirements of your group. Dennis certainly knows this to be true as well, and he makes it very easy to plan around this truth of group travel. I spoke with Dennis when I was in Seattle before we set sail and he asked me when "we" would like to meet him. He offered suggestions of where and when, and ultimately left it up to us. We let the ship dump for all the other tours and bulk of the walkers at 07:00am and had a nice relaxed breakfast before meeting Dennis at the pier at 09:00am. When our group gathered, Dennis had his tour van ready to roll, and we set off for our adventure.

Dennis made it very clear that this was "our" day, he was ours for the day, and he was there to make "our" day, the best day possible. As it turns out, "our" day was nothing short of spectacular and really quite perfect! I believe Dennis may know everyone from Skagway, clear up to the Yukon. We made more breathtaking stops in number than I can remember, and I was thankfully able to capture literally hundreds of amazing photographs to remember the adventure by. We did all the normal tourist stops we wanted, but then we also did so much more. For example, we had a great BBQ lunch at our leisure, played with sled dogs, option to gold pan for some in the group, saw a great wildlife museum exhibit where some of the other tours went, but without the grief of large tour travel. We then traveled all the way up to Emerald Lake in the Yukon where my cousin and I chose to go for a quite chilly swim, while the rest of the group laughed and called us crazy. Then Dennis took us to the beautiful Carcross "Little" Desert. Then off to the scenic Bennett Lake where my cousin and I took and even chillier swim. What an amazing time! After drying off and changing, we set off for the return to Skagway, making all the additional stops we passed on the way up since they were so crowded with tour buses and such on the way by the first time.

When we got back to Skagway Dennis dropped some of us off in town for some shopping and then ran a couple of the group back to the ship because they forgot to do something. He then came back to meet us in town and then we set off for the local distillery to have a tasty beverage. Dennis then drove the rest of us back to the pier and we closed out the day. Our tour ran well over the designated hours, and Dennis never blinked an eye or rushed us through anything.

I cannot say enough kind words about Dennis. Nor can I recommend him enough. All I can say is that you will regret not booking an adventure with him. He can and will cater to whatever your needs and he makes the trip all about you and your group. You will meet Dennis as strangers, and depart as friends. When his business card states "LET DENNIS MAKE YOUR DAY", he really means it!
