I am going to say what everybody is saying about this place. First of all, the owners are extremely welcoming and they will make you feel like family. The property is located in an opening surrounded by mountains with pastures all around. There is a creek that can be heard at all times conveying a sense of peace. Dogs are not allowed in the property with good reason. Too many risks for the animals. However, they have four dogs and several cats. They are all super friendly and they will make your stay even more fun. They will follow you around everywhere you go, and they are always playing around.
We stayed here on the second week of September And we had a great time, the weather was simply perfect. We did not need neither AC nor heater at any time.
Interestingly enough, the cooking and dining area are detached from the actual silo. It makes it very fun to cook and eat on open spaces surrounded by nature and in the open air. Another interesting factoid is that there are no mosquitoes.
If you are looking for a peaceful stay surrounded by nature and hosted by extremely likable people, this is your place.
Also, don’t forget to look for the secret compartment during your stay. It will make it even more fun. We had a challenging but fun time trying to find it. They will give you more clues if it becomes more difficult to find it. There is a surprise waiting for you in the secret compartment. Certainly, this is one of the most spectacular places I have ever been to in Virginia.
Thanks Karen and family for making our stay so pleasant.

My girlfriend and I did a road trip from NY to FLA in September, and had looked for fun and unique places to stop along the way. We came across the Dream Rock Silo and decided to stay for two nights. It was the best decision that we made during the course of our entire trip. The property is stunning and all the details that make up the space are amazing. Karen and her family are very warm and welcoming, and gave us great recommendations of things to do in the area. We went hiking for the day in an area where wild ponies roam. The dream rock silo is great for couples, families, or solo travelers. It was truly a unique experience, and we are looking forward to when we can go back!

I had an absolutely amazing stay at the Dream Rock Silo! From the second you cross the creek onto the property you truly do feel like you’re in a dream. Karen was wonderful and greeted me once I arrived and gave me a full run down along with plenty of recommendations on restaurants and local hikes!

The silo was immaculate! Every detail so thoughtfully planned out, you can tell the family put great efforts into creating this space. It was a cozy yet open place where you could disconnect. The woodwork was beautiful, open air kitchen was perfect and the property was gorgeous. The most unique place I’ve stayed.

I can’t say a negative thing about this space or stay overall. Only thing I’d change is to make sure I stay longer next time! Can’t wait to return :)

My partner and I stayed at the bungalow in June/July of 2020 and everything was so sweet! From the landscaping of the gardens, to the interiors of the house, to the animals wandering around, to the sound of the creek rushing by — everything! Kitchen was well-stocked with basics, bed and couch were comfy, and shower had fine pressure. The bedroom is located under the communal kitchen, so you do hear people getting in/out of chairs from time to time, but it's not a problem at night. Karen is very welcoming and clearly pays attention to every small detail, and it makes for a magical experience. Plus, she responds quickly to whatever you may need or want (including accompanying you to the garden to pick greens or setting up a massage). You'll have a wonderful time! (Oh, and we recommend going to Grayson Highlands State Park - you can travel part of the Appalachian Trail and see wild ponies, too!)

My wife and I had our annual get away for our anniversary. We normally stay at bed and breakfasts, but Dream Rock Silo was by far our favorite. Karan and her husbands attention to detail with the rooms and guests is outstanding. The grounds are beautiful and the natural beauty of the area is amazing. We are definitely going back next year. If you are looking for a place to stay look no further.

Stayed in the silo last year prior to the bungalows being fully completed. Karen and her husband were some of the best hosts we’ve encountered. It’s a great property to just enjoy, between the butterflies, flowers and stargazing, as well as a relaxing, welcoming place to return to after a day of exploring the local area. I’m certain we’ll return soon.
Sean (sorry about the screen name, haven’t figured how to change that yet)

Dream Rock Silo was a perfect getaway in the mountains for us. Karen and Bill are warm, generous, and talented artists/woodworkers who have built an amazing space to share with people looking to relax and explore. We particularly enjoyed the chickens and the fresh eggs in the morning, and the hammock by the stream! Also the weekend we went, the nearby town had a local festival with a pony ride and pressed apples, which was a big hit with the kiddo.

This place was incredible. From beginning to end there were personal touches and we fell in love with the host and the doggies! We can't wait to go back. There was a winter storm coming in and we thought why not go into it and enjoy a snow weekend with our boys? Best idea ever! This place was something out of a dream and it was truly amazing. We were sledding, had snowball fights, built snowmen, and all of this was with our host! Such a fun weekend, we didn't want to go home.

Best Trip Ever!!!!

We slept in the tippy top of the coolest converted silo on the most comfortable custom bed I've ever been in, savored our meals in the easily accessible, full kitchen with GORGEOUS views, enjoyed seeing all the darling animals, met the absolutely amazing hosts, walked around the beautiful babbling brook on the property, made the short drive to hike with wild ponies and summit some boulders to see the Appalachian Trail, and then another short drive to a waterfall right by the road (ya girl was tired at this point!)
There were lots of options for local restaurants as well as a great grocery store and deli.

I cannot recommend it enough! We are already planning a return trip for ASAP!
It was a perfect romantic gateway, but we know the kids are gonna love coming back with us, too! I'm even trying to rope my parents into renting out one of the other rooms while we are there! Its the ideal setup for a family vacay, too!

Drop everything and just go!
You won't regret it!!!

An absolute dream. We went for a special occasion, and Karen and her family really made our stay special. We were greeted with a personalized magnet phrase on the fridge, a fridge stocked with breakfast items, and a kitty cat on our porch! When we asked for a veggie from the garden for our meal, we were brought fresh picked green beans. The property is gorgeous, and so peaceful. I can’t wait to come back with my daughter one day and let her see all the chickens and cows!

We have been here twice and loved both times. We hope to go back soon. The inside and outside are both amazing and Karen is an amazing host! My only complaint is that Karen's gardens are so nice that my wife now wants our yard to look like Karen's! :)

What a peaceful, restful place to spend the weekend! Karen was the best host, always making sure we had everything we needed and always making suggestions for interesting places to visit nearby. This incredible unique spot is perfect for any weekend getaway. Was wishing we could visit again during the Christmas holidays, as I hear the decorations are over the top.

A magical stay with amazing hosts! If I ever find myself in Virginia again I will absolutely be back. My family of four with two small kids were so welcomed and cared for. Karen is an angel with a eye for detail. Go breath the air at Dream Rock Silo!

CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!! Unique, spotless, amazing.

This is one of the most magical places I’ve ever visited. The hostess Karen is incredibly kind and the rooms are SPOTLESS. The entire property is unique and, literally, one of a kind with personal and homey touches in every square inch. We stayed in the actual Silo- the tall, round red part of the building. The construction is top quality. From morning til night, it is a sight to behold. The silo is a round living space with a round bed and quaint round features- even the bathroom is round! The very top of the silo is where the bed is and provides stunning views of the blue ridge mountains at every angle/turn and from the round balcony off of the bedroom. You can even see the stars from laying in bed at night. It’s super romantic.

I would say the Dream Rock Silo as a whole is high class, comfortable country living. I actually didn’t want to leave. The property is also ideal for a large group of travelers (we had 7) because you each have your own space and each is so private you don’t even know where anyone is- but you can join up at the communal dining table for dinner or daily coffee time (4:30 pm every day for the locals).

I was amazed at the comfort and just plain beauty on the property. Rolling hills, a stellar-ly landscaped creek running right through the property and a great fire pit!

Within 45 minutes of the silo in any direction are tons of activities. Biking, hiking, star gazing, kayaking, waterfalls, swimming holes and a ton of other stuff I didn’t even have the opportunity to do!

This is hands down the BEST Airbnb I've ever stayed in! We visited in July 2020, and we chose this place because of its proximity to Grayson Highlands State Park and the Virginia Creeper bike trail. The rooms are decorated beautifully, we had farm-fresh eggs for breakfast each morning, and enjoyed watching a rain storm underneath the covered porch area. Will definitely be returning next time we are in southwest VA!

A wonderful getaway in the mountains! Beautiful views and gracious host. This was such a fun place to stay. A farm feel with modern amenities. If traveling to this region you can’t go wrong here. This may be one of the best AirBnBs we have ever stayed at!

This is my home away from home. I’ve been coming here for 3 years now and I believe this was my 5th visit here and I’ll be going again. Bill and Karen are the most amazing and artistic people in the world.

The ambiance, attention to detail and the location is just what the soul needs to reset in a world of constant motion.

I implore you to go there for a few nights (at least!) and see for yourself. They can accommodate a couple, a couple couples and even a family.

Absolutely wonderful! I’ve stayed at a lot of Airbnb and B&B type of establishments and this place has been my favorite by far. The view from atop the silo is simply picture perfect. The host is very friendly and quick to respond. Pricy but oh so worth it!! Missing Dream Silo already.

I stayed in the Silo with my boyfriend and had a great time! The hosts were so thoughtful, and the property is beautiful. Also home to the friendliest animals.
