Customers should know that their business practices could be considered questionable and doubtful. We request a liability insurance for our business so we have got an "inspection" paid by the broker (broker that works with Bass Underwriters) and in May or June they asked for our business "expectations" during the calendar year, when the policy year ended instead of requesting the company financial statements which is the right thing to do, they just increased the policy premium based in business expectations; the business did not go as well as expected but they just increased the policy premium "because of the business expectations report" (a phone call) so I refused to pay the increase but they kept the insurance on for another year without increase of the policy rate, but on the 2nd year I found out that we could get a much better rate with another broker (almost 2/3 less expensive) so when we canceled the insurance with them the insurance company sent us a refund through the broker (Karla Salmon, AXA Insurance Agency), refund that they kept because of the increase of the policy premium during the 1st year due to the business expectations report; they tried to collect the difference of the insurance rate during the 1st and 2nd year as well and to be paid to the broker "not to the insurance company" so they requested a 2nd inspection “paid by the broker” with the financial statements of the company so we could prove that our numbers were correct not to pay an increase premium for the policy (what they should have done for the 1st year) but when we claimed the refund for the 1st year ($1,455) their comments was, it could not be done because it was 2 years ago.
During these discussions and events, I asked to talk directly to the insurance company to request a calculation for the right premium because the broker was a party interested in raising money (it had to be paid to them, the broker and not to the insurance company) but Karla Salmon from AXA Insurance Agency refused to give me the contact.
As you can see all these events happens just after we canceled the policy, what a coincidence. Is it a business malpractice? As customer you should decide if their practices are questionable and/or doubtful, I'm just telling you my what happened to us.
Additionally, I requested to updated the family auto policy because one of the car has been sold, so when I get the new quote it was about 14% higher than the previous one with one car less, after no claims, no driver’s changes and the same policy conditions, then I request an explanation that I did not get and when I said that I was leaving (because I found another broker with better rates with the same policy conditions) they sent me another quote with a better price than the previous one, is this right? Trying to get you pay as much as they can? Is not the insurance agent supposed to get for you the best possible rate? Are the business practices questionable? And this is with a customer that has been with them (Lincoln Salmon, Karla Salmon, Salmon Agency, AXA Insurance Agency, Karla Salmon Insurance, all of them the same husband and wife business) more than 10 years.
