Due to logging and the slash left on the hillside, it was a moderately awkward walk down to the fen, but very rewarding once we got to the fen itself. Evidently, the sphagnum moss peat goes down 20 feet, making for a spongy surface with a waterbed type bounciness in places. The pitcher plants, ericas (leatherleaf?), alpine rushes, and mosses are beautiful. Bonus: Perhaps the pitcher plants account for the absence of bugs.
