1844 Restaurant

Our first experience this evening at the 1844 Restaurant was definitely one to remember! We had great cocktails and appetizers, followed by some of the most amazing entrees I can recall ever eating — and I know good food. I thoroughly enjoyed my [combination of] Blackened New Zealand King Salmon and Prime Rib done medium rare which came with broccoli and a potato cake (an interesting take on mashed potatoes, similar in size and shape to a crab cake). The salmon was to die for and honestly the softest, most delicately prepared salmon I’ve eaten. The prime rib was equally satisfying, being treated with the same excellent balance of blackened seasoning as the salmon while still allowing the flavor of the meat itself to carry through. I wish we had room for dessert, but our lovely server Karen described the options so vividly that we’ll be certain to save room on the next visit.

I also must make mention that Karen and the rest of the staff were fantastic at their jobs, with Karen being quite possibly the best server I’ve ever had. She is both professional and prompt yet extremely friendly & knowledgeable about the history of the establishment and its charm. She is also kid-friendly as my son is very interested in history and was fascinated by the building’s architecture and decor. This was a unique, long-desired destination that I never got to experience with my amazing late wife who passed away going on 2 years now. We dressed up just a bit for the occasion and Karen went out of her way to make him feel special; it went a long way to making his night along with mine and that of my mother-in-law. I usually take pictures of the food when it’s good and I know I’m going to write a review, but it was SO good, and we were having a terrific time, that I just didn’t care if I’m being honest. Hopefully, my descriptions will suffice for this trip, but I can’t thank everybody enough and can’t wait to come back.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the 1844 restaurant yesterday 7-2-22 celebrating our 34 wedding anniversary. The meal we were served was excellent and the ambiance quaint and charming. Both of us where wanting a very relaxed and quiet dinner and we we're not disappointed. The staff was pleasant and accommodating and we got our appetizers, salads and entrees very quickly. Both of us were very pleased with the evening we spent there and would like to once again share our compliments to the chef as well as the owner of the establishment and our waitress for marvelous anniversary meal. I would reccomend the 1844 restaurant to all who wish to have a delicious meal in a quaint country setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city anytime. We do plan on visiting again hopefully in the near future! And I do suggest the Crem brulee and the New York cheesecake with raspberry topping for desert!🤗

1844 was recommended to us & we were thankful!! Crab shrooms , roasted mushroom soup were delish!! Prime rib & blackened shrimp were great!! Peanut Butter pie was yummy! Prices were a surprise for the quality , and hospitality like 1844 provided by the staff is a rare thing anymore!!! We will be back!!

I hope to never change my mind about this place. Ive been coming here for about 20 years, now it is by far the best it's ever been. My husband and I dined here about 2 weeks ago and it had been a few years since we had been here. At first I had sticker shock by the prices of meals, I didn't remember it being that much. I ordered the prime rib and blackened swordfish, my husband had a filet and lobster tail. They came with delicious steamed carrots that had a hint of natural sweetness and rustic lumpy smashed potatoes. 😋 EVERYTHING was exquisite 👌 ❤😘 We can not wait to go back and take friends and family here!

Amazing food. I had filet and lobster and it one of the best meals I have had. Service was quality and friendly. The atmosphere is country charm with a lot of history. Beautiful. It is worth every cent you pay.

What an excellent restaurant. Seriously, we made an hour long trek to reach this place and I would 110% do it again. The cornbread was phenomenal, the sashimi was exquisite, the salmon and filet was as tender and flavorful as any other meat I have ever enjoyed. Big kudos to the chef everything (including our dessert) was perfectly prepared.

The service was also excellent. Our waitress was attentive and a gracious host! She knew the menu well and was able to give us lots of extra info about everything on the menu.

I wish other restaurants were ran this well. It's truly and excellent dining experience I know I will be experiencing again!

Ate here for the 1st time after a recommendation, food was absolutely amazing, excellent service and a great atmosphere. The 4 of us all had different meals and everyone was very pleased. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

Had a very nice meal here. The food and service were very good. Prices were on the higher end, but this is definitely a good place to have a meal for a special occasion.

The food is absolutely amazing. It's a little pricey but trust me...it is worth it. Service goes above and beyond.

Love this place. It's the perfect "special occasion" restaurant. They make a brilliant dirty martini & their meat & seafood is superb. Service is personable & the setting is intimate. Be prepared to drop a pretty penny, but it's well worth it.

Amazing service and spectacular food. The intimacy might throw some people off, because it is close quarters in the dining room, but my girlfriend and I loved it. Would definitely do again. Great place to splurge.

What a treat. Finest food! We went for our anniversary and we very treated like royalty. We had fillet and prime rib. Wonderful !!!

The best tuna, snapper, and steak I've ever tasted in my life. Literally prepared to perfection! Obviously not a restaurant I would go to everyday cause of the price but it was worth every penny. Pick an occasion, make a reservation, bring some money and enjoy the experience cause it's worth it.

This is the best place I've " EVER" eaten! Just took my wife there for her ** birthday! She had Blackened Swordfish and I had Prime Rib! It was all so delicious! Mushrooms stuffed with crab, Grilled Caesar Salad, Smashed Potatoes and the desserts! I couldn't finish it all. It's not only the food that sets this place above all others, it's the ambiance! The waitress could have been your sister, cousin, girl next door or even an old girlfriend! She was very hospitable, friendly and made you feel you have been friends forever! The owner, a friendly fellow, walked over after we ate and asked our choices on entrees! We struck up a warm chat, talking from the varieties of fish, how and when it arrives to qualities of meats etc! Then to the everyday chores of running the business, upkeep, maintainence and other things. To me , there is nothing better than a quality meal, good talk and meeting new peole! We will definitely be back! But it won't take me 45 years to get back! From my wife and myself, we thank the entire staff @1844. P.S. A shoutout to the chef!

Great plates; it's our Valentine's dinner spot. The wine and beer selection is well versed and the menu is always good. I personally enjoy the blackened combo and the prime rib.

Very relaxing cozy atmosphere. Excellent service. Filet mignon was perfect👍Very expensive but worth the experience. Hey guys out there-good place to take that special girl for a romantic date💖
