I always come here for special occasions and I always get the steak tips with mushrooms, onions and au jus for dipping. My food is always perfect every time. I am never disappointed when I come here. Also got salad and french onion soup. So delicious.

Absolutely delicious. Even though it was take out they made sure we would be happy with the meal. Service was quick and friendly.

The beauty of Hoss's is you always know you'll get good food, service and a huge salad from the salad bar. Lol

The employees are very welcoming and helpful. The waitress was outstanding and so attentive to our every need. She was truly a gem and did her job with much grace and dignity just like her name. The food was pricey but truly worth it. Everything tasted amazing and there was plenty to choose from when you add the salad bar. The whole atmosphere was easy going and very relaxing and fun to be there. Our whole experience was truly great and couldn't have been any better.

We had our soon to be daughter in-law bridal shower there. The waitress were on point.. food was delicious as always. They gave us the whole back room. We were able to play the goofy games with no interruptions. We will be having the rehearsal dinner there as well.

Love soup and salad bar..that's what we go for..don't have room for anything else..I love a good salad bar .theirs is good.

Altoona and visitors, don’t go anywhere else. Fantastic salad bar, great steaks (and I mean GREAT steaks) and sandwiches. It’s our “go to” place every year when visiting the area!

Love when you have limited time you can go in ,eat salad and soup bar and be content. Oh let's not forget desert😋

Never been here before, but it definitely doesn't disappoint! Nice staff, good food, could be cheaper but we can blame the fed for inflation.

The food was very good but a little more expensive than I thought it would be. Overall, it's a nice restaurant.

Attended the 40th birthday at Hoss's and had an excellent meal and a $5.99 special salad bar!

We go for all our special family events and they never disappoint us with their service or food.

Our family gathered here for dinner and I have to say it was a great experience! Most of us are steak snobs and I think we were all impressed with our different cuts. My steak was cooked to perfection, and the mushrooms ordered as a side came in a bowl that was shareable (though I only shared a spoonful. The salad bar had a good variety of choices and everything looked fresh although we were probably the last party seated before closing. Our server was sweet, attentive, and efficient, and staff did not run us out at closing time. If I ever get the chance to visit the area again, this will definitely be on list of “must go” locations.

I grew up going to Hoss's, then moved where there wasn't one for a long time. It was still pretty good after all that time! You can get just the salad bar that has different soups, salad, and desserts or you can order a meal by itself or with the salad bar.

Delicious food, amazing customer service. I am astounded at the cleanliness and maintenance of the building. I have worked in many restaurants and know the deterioration of chairs, floor tiles, etc. This location had nothing broken that i could see. Not even trash near the dumpsters. Great job keeping up with everything.

We rolled in as a party of 6 with kids to the buffet twenty minutes before closing and they were so patient and accommodating. They never made us feel rushed and,in fact told us to take our time. The staff were so sweet as our 5 year old took forever to finish her ice cream. The experience made me miss having a Hoss's closer to home. Great waitress and manager. Food was better than I expected too. Having all of the soup options out at 9 at night made my day. Thanks for making a road trip that was off to a rough start so much better.

Excellent!! Clean, welcoming friendly restaurant with soup, salad bar offerings not found in most eateries. Wonderful server (Grace) carefully took our order, answered questions and attentively worked her station.
We have been to Hoss's many times in the past and it does not disappoint.

Our waitress, Aspin, was wonderful, such a delight! Food choices were very limited, and they no longer have the warm raisin sauce for the bread pudding, which stinks!! The atmosphere was nice but it was freezing.

Upgraded review. The manager and waitress was over and beyond. We ate dinner on a slow Sunday with our 2 year old. They Changed the TV channel to kids shows to help entertain the little one. The restaurant had the best high chairs I've ever used for a restaurant to boot. We never waited or wanted for anything. This place is the most family friendly restaurant in Altoona hands down. The family will keep coming back. The staff and food are incredible.

This is a nice family place with pretty good food. Love the salad bar. Only thing I can complain about is that they swapped out the normal plates for smaller ones for the salad bar. It makes it difficult to makes one salad with all mixture of greens you want without dropping things and making a mess.
