Bellefonte Art Museum

I've bought two paintings from BAM in the past. Small and manageable for those who dislike big museums. I also enjoy their gift shop which offers products made by local artists.

A little hidden treasure in the heart of Bellefonte! A family-friendly place with neat interactive opportunities for kids (and adults), including a Makery room where art can be made. There is also currently an exhibit running where you can make your own paint of different types.

I had a great experience at the Bellefonte Art Museum. The exhibits were interactive and captivating. The staff was very helpful. I’d come back!

Love the Bellefonte Art Museum! Admission is free/by donation and it brings a wonderful sense of peace, artistic admiration, and joy. The Children's Maker Space is phenomenal and allows the littlest hands to be artists. The Underground Railroad display is a fascinating piece of local history. Definitely recommend!

Love coming here and seeing the new exhibits and bringing my daughter along to do the interactive projects. Even though I’ve seen it several times I like to see the Underground Railroad exhibit. Definitely come check it out regularly and their cool gift shop!

Very cool exhibits with local artists, a making/interactive space, and local history. Is not wheelchair accessible on upper floors, but there is an accessible entrance in the back to see the main floor. Cool gift shop!

Took my parents there over Mother's Day weekend 2022. We enjoyed the Underground Railroad exhibit and the varied work throughout the other galleries. It's a great place to go for local art and history.

This is a wonderful little gem. The docents were friendly and informative about the exhibits and artists. One nice person explained how the main exhibit changes monthly and is kicked off with an open house the first Sunday of the month. I can't wait to attend that. I was happy to have seem the special exhibit about how the building and its occupants were stops on the Underground Railroad. Great mix of history, art and culture.

This is one of my favorite places in Centre County. The team of women that run this place always make you feel right at home and it is always changing which keeps it SO interesting and makes you want to come back for each well curated exhibit.

If I could give it 10 stars I would. We are so lucky to have such a unique art museum here in Central PA!

This is a really lovely place to hold an event. Catering may be brought in and there is plenty of beautiful space to mingle in. A real gem in Bellefonte!

An incredibly welcoming space — indoors and out! We made a day of discovering Bellefont’s gems, and this was a highlight. We caught the exhibit “Drawings from the Anxiety Project” and are sad we missed the COVID 19 Exhibit. I’ll be checking back to see what’s coming up — and will plan to enjoy a coffee from
Cool Beans in the Museum’s charming Garden.

Nice free place, just leave a donation. Very surprised to see the underground railroad location, you will be surprised also.

Interesting and inspiring art. Childrens craft room now open with interesting, creative fun for all ages

Lovely place to go. The volunteers are also very helpful and happy to immerse you in the local art world. Must see local place that anyone in the area should visit. Has 3 gallery’s downstairs, 3 gallery’s upstairs and a creative space for kids and other people to enjoy.

This museum has been here (close to State College) in Bellefonte for 11 years and I just learned about it. They had an exhibition of Jewish art in the first floor. On the second floor, they had three artists who were exhibiting their pieces of art, not only paintings but pictures and others.

In the third floor there is a very emotional setting. I don’t know if you ever read about the Underground Railroad. But, some quakers hid African Americans in the Bellefonte houses (in the attics). So, they have a setting representing it. Sad, emotional.

I understand that in December there will be an exhibition of Caribbean culture.

The membership per family is 40.

Our visits always lift the spirit and inspire us! A tour is a great activity for a weekend or Friday afternoon, and the artist receptions are a great way to meet interesting new people.

Surprisingly enjoyable. Local art, (I like that). Plus a display of when the house was used during the underground railroad. The reality of what happened here creates a somber atmosphere.

Always love going here. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I like the uniqueness of the different displays of art that they have each month.

Super enjoyable afternoon. The local artists were available to talk to on First Sunday. The exhibits were great. I highly recommend this museum

We made a stop there on our way to Cleveland and thoroughly enjoyed this place and what it has to offer. Lots of various activities that all of us enjoyed. Very nice and friendly staff.
