Had the horrible misfortune of dealing with this person a couple years ago. I had an unresolved bad check charge in another county for $79.00 that had turned into a warrant that was hanging over my head that I wanted to resolve. I voluntarily turned myself into this office when a PA State constable was called by this offices' staff to formally arrest me. This judge then declared me a "fugitive from justice", and set my bail at $100,000. That's correct, One hundred thousand dollars. For a $79 bad check charge. Despite having close ties to the community, being a father and having a full time job. I spent the night in Franklin County jail, and in the morning was transported to the neighboring county jail where the formal charge was. I was told I would see a judge the next morning. The next morning I had to be at work, so I needed to get out. I paid a bail bondsman $5,000 on my credit card to get me out. A hearing was scheduled approx. 2 weeks later. The judge in the presiding county literally gasped when he saw the age of the charge, amount of the check and most of all the bail amount that Judy Eyer set for me. He looked at me and said I had obviously suffered enough and paid for this 7 year old mistake. He dismissed the charge instantly and the case was thrown out. Be very cautious in dealing with these magistrates and constables. They come across as being your friend and only wanting to help you, but once they get their cuffs on you and you are in their jail it's a whole different ball game. Lawyer up and have lots of cash set aside and friends a phone call away when dealing with these "public servants".
