Guante Family Restaurant

Had a ladies lunch group of 8 here on a Saturday. The waitress was very nice and food came out pretty quickly considering we had such a large party. We didn't experience any problems. Beautifully decorated inside. The dining room and bathroom were very clean as well. Oh yeah the food, it was delicious!!

The food is so good here! You have to go. The interior is renovated and it’s a perfect color scheme with strands of lights. A woman came to our table and made great recommendations for pupusas and entrees. I presume she was the cook. I had the signature sautéed chicken with house sauce and it was phenomenal. The pupusas are delicious and my husband loved the pulled pork. If you are in the area definitely stop by. The flavors are incredible. The only thing that wasn’t for me was the coffee.

I’ve been to Guante Family Restaurant so many times and I’ve loved it on every occasion. Friendly staff and the best mofongo I’ve ever had! What’s not to love! Also the pork and cheese pupusas are amazing! Truly a hidden gem in central Pennsylvania!

I just had dinner from Guante’s for the first time in years and it is clear how much care and effort everyone puts into this restaurant. The food has always been superior, but being able to go back after years and find the exact same quality was amazing. This is such a special place!

Best Cuban sandwich I've ever had. Kinda on the smallish side though. Also the sweet plantains were the best we've had. The plantain chip were just ok. My wife got some bowl meal and said it was good but small portion of protein and lots of rice.

To find a Latino fusion restaurant in Central PA! 🤯 🙏♥ As someone who has traveled widely throughout Latin America, the food at Guante is the best Latin food I have eaten. Period. 🏆

The chef is a master of spice combinations, and salt, fat, sugar, and acid balance. Masterful.

The diversity of menu options gives patrons a tour of Latin American favorites with modern twists. Some reviewers complain that they don't have Mexican food options. Uht..hum...they aren't a Mexican restaurant. Their menu highlights some of the best foods Latin America has to offer.

We enjoyed their tacos de cameron, vegetarian empanadas, refried beans, and fried yuca balls. And, definitely get an order of refried beans....so, so good.

We left with full tummies and content hearts...and we will be making a regular stop here when we travel from Altoona to Camp Hill.

If you are looking for an elevated foodie experience, this will satisfy your taste buds.

A restaurant you would pass up. But I would advise to try them. The authentic heritage meal was good and well portion. Very nice staff. Diffently try other items on the menu in near travel again. So stop threw and give them a try.

We were very happy to find this place. Great food and generous portions. Service was great and food arrived quickly. Recommend the empanadas and plantain chips.

The food was delicious, and all of the ingredients are sourced locally. The waitress was very kind, and the food took about twenty minutes to be served. Portion sizes were good. The prices were a little bit high for some foods, but overall the prices were reasonable for the amount of food. I would recommend and would eat there again.

Finally made it to Guante, I went for lunch. It is absolutely outstanding....amazingly authentic Latin American style home cooking! I'll be coming here often! Plus, the staff and owner are very helpful and considerate. Top notch establishment!

The food provided here is authentic and delicious. My party of 5 had a great lunch. The staff was very kind and the food was prepared well. I would return even though it's about a 45 minute drive for me!

The food here is incredible!! I love the plantains they bring out right away. I like the atmosphere inside but they are good at serving takeout as well.

Loved everything about this place!!---We've been here several times ,always loved it, but won't be back again. I always check hours before I go places, the advertised hours were until 9:00, we went a few minutes before 8 and they were closing when we went in the door!!! Don't put your hours on the web if you aren't going to follow them! Very Disappointed!!!!

One of my all-time favorite restaurants. Service is great and quick. All of the waitstaff is friendly. We do both takeout and dine-in often at this establishment and have never been disappointed.
We often bring friends and family visiting us here as well.

Not your usual Mexican - because it's influence are from Central America. Each of our three dishes were delicious (pechuga de pollo, tostada's and the chifrijo bowl were perfectly seasoned and combined with their other ingredients). Unique and great food! Friendly service too.
