Been coming to Willoughby for years! I've been coming to this campground in particular since 2018. It's one of the more affordable/flexible options for staying on the lake (we tent camp). Location is beyond amazing, across the street from the water. New ownership seems to be trying to cater to a family oriented experience, quite hours at 10pm, fires out by 11pm, and one car per campsite (additional cars are charged a fee). We usually camp with a group of a few couples coming from different locations so it can make things a little bit harder with coordination. You will get shushed by owners after 10pm if your volume isn't pretty low, especially at the campsites (noise tends to broadcast down onto the main campground even at reasonable volume). Just be mindful of that. Other than that, the new renovations to bathrooms, tent sites, and parking are really great. Store is always fully stocked and offers a good selection of baked goods and sandwiches. Bathrooms are clean! Kayak rentals are reasonable! Staff is friendly!

This is our second year camping at the White Caps Campground and I think it will be an annual event. It is run by the NICEST people and the accommodations are wonderful including very clean showers and bathrooms. It is literally adjacent to one of the most magnificent lakes and great hiking! This place is a "must stay at".

White Caps was a fantastic location for our first family camping trip. Even though the weather didn't entirely cooperate, our stay was great. We tent camped on an upper site (UT5) for 3 nights in July. The site was really big and could easily accommodate two tents, maybe even three. It was a little closer to the road than we would have preferred, but that never really impacted our stay. The bathrooms at White Caps are nicer than some hotels. The camp store is really cute and has a great assortment of things you might need. Ice and firewood were reasonably priced, and it was nice to be able to buy beer on site. But the true defining characteristic of White Caps is the fact that it's literally across the street from Willoughby Lake, and it's the south side which is the most picturesque! You can cross the street from the campground and you're there! It's gorgeous. You should book some time here!

This is a great camp ground, run by what seems to be a very wholesome local family. The parents and kids all help running the place and they love to chat you up. The location is phenomenal, with views of Lake Willoughby across the street as well as the giant rock wall towering over the area (the pics don't do it justice). A decent selection of food and drinks is available in the front desk/deli store, and I especially loved not having to brew my own coffee in the morning. The bathrooms look modern and are kept very clean (at least in my section). The camp sites are a tad small as others have stated, but big enough for my needs. I will certainly return to this place!

we started our trip on 6/19 and suppose to leave 6/22. my girlfriend and our 11 month old baby and 2 friends enjoyed the environment so much we extended our stay one more night. the staff was extremely helpful with us wanting to add a night. everyone in the campground where super friendly and made you feel comfortable being there. the bath house was very clean and modern. the only down fall was the campsites are very close to each other so you do not have much privacy on your site. for us we did not mind because everyone was super nice and we spent most of our time at the beach or out on the boat. next year we will be booking a week trip here again it will be our new place we visit every year.

The owners, Michelle and Eric, are amazing! Super friendly, kind, and extremely helpful. Since taking ownership last year, they clearly have put much thought and effort into making Whitecaps a warm and welcoming vacation spot that accommodates campers' needs. Bathrooms are very clean! Cabins have beds, lights, and minifridge, as well as porch, picnic table, and fire ring. I also tented - nice flat spot. The campground store has a little of everything, including food to order. I enjoyed my daily morning coffee and breakfast burrito. Willoughby Lake, right across the road, is beautiful and great for swimming and paddling, and the campground offers kayak and paddle board rentals. Excellent spot for hiking too, both around the lake and at nearby Mount Pisgah. The best aspect of Whitecaps Campground is the positive vibe the owners have fostered. I enjoyed my visit so much that I'm returning this summer and plan to visit every year!

Amazing location and while it's really popular and quite crowded - very well organized, excellent service, very clean and well maintained. The host makes it very easy to enjoy it, helps with questions and local info. The lake is beautiful, hope to come back for a hike in September to see great colors.

Amazing campground: Beyond amazing staff!!! Beautiful location; “looks like a mini Yosemite” with a lake in the middle. Great hiking and biking all around. Unbelievable sunsets. Rumors of rad ice climbing in the area come winter… and lots of hidden gem beaches to explore in the summer. Laundry and showers available $$

Super friendly and helpful staff. It really meant a lot when I showed up from out of town, went to rent a kayak, and realize I had lost my wallet. Instead of "stupid tourist" eye rolls, I got friendly empathy from every staff member I talked with. Even at the height of the tourist season it was really meaningful to be treated so well.

Clean and well landscaped campground with everything you could need. We stayed in the cabin and it had curtains, electrical outlets a mini fridge, bed, firepit, camping chairs, picnic table. Country store is well stocked and they made yummy sandwhiches and the iced coffee has coffee ice cubes. There was wifi on the porch. Cute fat chipmunks and a mischievious raccoon for wild life but no bears that we encountered. Only complaint was the shower ate our quarters when trying to add more time to the showers but the shower was hot and the bathrooms were clean and updated. We will definitely be back!

Small, cozy, quiet, family campground. Reasonably priced, excellent access to nearby Lake Willoughby and hiking trails. Camp store has all the necessities and wifi. No cell service, which we loved, because it meant we could do all our phone/internet stuff on our terms comfortably outside the camp store on the wifi.

Love the camp ground !!! The cabins are great when you have a family member that needs that extra care ❤. Cabins have 2 electrical outlets, tiny frig., ceiling fan, one full bed, 2 twins. You bring your own sheets, blankets and extra pillows as they have 4 there. The cabins come with key to restroom facilities that are brand new and handicap accessible. The ground are close quarters though. So expect your neighbors to in very close proximity and car parking is very tight. But all in all we love the campground. The lake right across street and view out of this 🌎...With hiking trails in walking distance and boat access and launch the whole family will enjoy.

The new owners Eric and Michelle are outstanding and very accommodating. They were very attentive to my family and I, everything was very clean. The bathrooms were new and extremely clean there was about six or seven separate bathrooms. I will definitely visit again this summer.

Our favorite campground. The lake is breathtaking. I love it there. Not crowded, nice spots. If I was rich I would quit my day job and buy it. That’s how much we love going there!
Dog friendly and that’s amazing!
