Backyard Lodge Motel

We always like to find different places to stay, preferably older and more interesting ones than the usual chains. The Backyard Lodge definitely fit the bill. The front desk folks were very welcoming, and the location, a short drive to downtown, was perfect. The nicely-renovated bedroom and bathroom were spacious, and everything was very clean, both inside and outside. We loved parking the car right outside the door in our own carport. Each unit has a wonderful bench to sit on outside. We enjoyed watching huge farm equipment being driven slowly down the road and even saw a couple of very nice sunsets. Price was quite reasonable.

Stayed one very pleasant night in August. It's really nice to see an older motel building like this, with cozy squarish rooms and concrete-block construction, that has also received some updates and renovations. The bathroom/shower was probably the best I have seen in a budget-friendly motel in years. Also kinda cool and unique how each room has its own covered parking spot. We came in at 10pm and left at 6am, so didn't get to explore beyond the room.

What a fantastic place, the room is a basic motel room, but what makes this place special are the people. Walking in without a plan, two gentleman greeted me and they were truly interested in my adventure active listening. But what really hit me with amazement was we discovered that one of the guys I was talking to was best friends in high-school (there now in their 60s) with my next door neighbor. Can you say small world with wonderful people.

What an unexpected gem!! We had car trouble in the middle of the night and this was, thankfully, the only place around with a room available. What was a pain in the neck with car trouble turned into a relaxing day away for my wife and I. Super cute and clean rooms, comfortable bed, all recently remodeled and great price. Amazingly nice and helpful staff. I don't know if I'll need a room in Beloit again but if, so, we will definitely stay here again. Backyard Lodge was certainly a blessing for us. Thank you!! (Btw, my wife can be kind of picky about cleanliness and she was so happy here.)

Stopped in at the last minute with my two dogs. Great service and friendly staff. Great place with covered parking right outside the door to the room. Cute, clean rooms too. Door to room said upgrades coming with fireplace area coming. If I am back that way again, I will definitely stay there again.

This was a great little place to stay on our trip across the country! Super clean and very quiet! Our family all slept the best we had so far on our trip. Office staff was very friendly and helpful. Great Mexican restaurant right next door too! Would definitely recommend and would stay again if ever passing through!

Quaint, old looking hotel with updated room! We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into our room. We weren't quite sure what to expect but our room was very clean and up to date. Beds were comfortable, air conditioner worked great, instant hot water. The gentleman we dealt with was so friendly. We didn't use it, but there was a kitchen available to use as well. We will definitely stay here when we are back in the area. Loved this place!

Service was great! They are open late, which really helped me out. Bathrooms are clean and renovated. Extra pillows! I'll be back for sure, 13 minutes to Glen Elder Wakonda Lake. Room for my boat/trailer.

Older motor court style motel. The owner has done a lot of upgrading. New A/C/Heating units that are very quiet. The bed was comfortable. Liked the carport outside of the room.

The man at the front desk was so nice. The aesthetic of the motel seems to be completely retained which is very refreshing to see and a source of joy. The room we had was totally remodeled. The shower was VERY hot and the carpet was so clean and soft. No dirt in sight and blackout blinds. Excessively comfortable pillows. We didn't want to leave!

I wanted to take the time and write this review because I felt it needed to be wrote. I'm just passing through town here to another location I've been doing some work at different motels painting what not. I had the opportunity to meet Kurt the owner of this backyard lodger he's a really super nice guy very polite friendly treats his guests like gold.
He's really did a lot of work in these rooms these are some of the cleanest and nicest rooms I've seen in a long time they've got a elaborate state of the art air conditioning heating system that cost a lot of money carpets are nice everything is remodeled in these rooms.
Very affordable if they have a game cleaning room a coffee in the morning refrigerator microwave really great flat screen TVs I mean this is a decent room at a super affordable price. You can't beat this place at all this is awesome.
I highly recommend any travelers going through a US 24 East or West or k50 k14 north or south make this your designated stop I'd even bypass the bigger Motel super 8 down the road here, as I'm sure it's a lot more expensive and it's probably not even is clean and nice as this one is. Let's support our American run mom and pop businesses that's the American thing to do thumbs up to this place make this your designated stop once again if you're coming through the Beloit area this is a decent little town and this is a decent Motel here one of the better motels you're going to see. 👍👍👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

The rooms were very roomy and pleasant. Updated bathroom, super clean, fresh paint. Enjoyed the USB ports near the bed! Nice accomodations for money. Would stay again in the future!

Locally owned and managed. Clean rooms, fair prices and excellent customer service. I travel for work and stay in a hotel 4 days a week 52 weeks a year and love when you can stay in a nice little motel with good old fashioned Country hospitality!

This is perfect for the construction worker or someone just needing to lay their head down and get a hot shower. They have a lil kitchen in the ice / laundry room with a couple outdoor gas grills, there’s a couple Mexican restaurants and a gas station

Very clean and friendly! You can tell the rooms have been recently remodelled, and are done very nicely. I was skeptical when Curt told me that the cots were actually very comfortable and I watched them tote a 2 inch foam mattress and frame to my room, but I ended up sleeping on it instead of my toddler (he and my husband ended up sharing the queen and we were all much more comfortable) and I was surprised that it was very comfortable! The rates are affordable, and I will definitely stay here again.

Newly renovated with plush carpet, big screen TVs and comfortable beds. Bathrooms are amazing, and tasteful decor throughout. Heat and air is quiet--not your typical through the wall unit. All-around a great place to stay.

Clean room, hot shower and soft bed. Would definitely stay there again. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Quiet peaceful area to rest. Fresh popped popcorn was a nice treat. All amenities such as coffee maker, microwave, hair dryer, iron, refrigerator, and nice TV. Fast internet.

What a great little place. In town for work. Stayed at the Super 8 a few blocks away last time we were here, and wasn't impressed. Decided to try the Backyard Lodge this time, and couldn't be happier. Clean rooms, good wifi, comfortable , great staff, continental breakfast, fridges and microwaves in the rooms. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who's staying in Beloit or nearby.

Clean rooms. nice quality carpet. Quaint. Quiet. Hot Shower. Best thing that EVERY room has a place to park your car underneath a covering in case of weather. Solomon Valley is beautiful.
Great value.

I was a little skeptical about staying here but after the first night I was completely satisfied with the place. Very clean and well kept and the owner was very respectful and willing to do whatever to make the stay enjoyable. I give Backyard Lodge a 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. I forgot to mention that the rates are very affordable.
