Shelvin Rock Access

Good place to put in if you are shuttling yourself. Drop boats here, take your truck to Hootentown, bring follow vehicle back to Shelvin, float to Hooten, load up, stop back here to get the follow vehicle and head home. Nice, easy way to do a 1/2 day float close to Springfield.

It's a great swimmin' hole to bring the kids to. We love it.

Great river access.

Really great place to relax and let the kids run around and enjoy themselves. Loads of parking space available. I did see a baby water snake in the shallows but it's to be expected. Just keep an eye out :)

We only saw 4 other floaters today and I only got stuck 3 times... it was beautiful and fun!!!

Better place to hang out than Delaware access. Less slick. A little safer. Steeper access for canoes but there is a boat ramp available. watch for snakes. Good fishing.

On the James...My home away from home, I use hootontown to shuttle me and they are reasonably priced.

I love this place! Lots of shade and water is pretty much always moving. It's not stagnant, which is always a plus. And it's peaceful!

Wonderful place to hang out by the water. My kids love catching crawdads and minnows in the river and this is the perfect place to do that! Plenty of room to bring a lawn chair and a towel. Easy to get to. Great place for floating.

We took our grandchildren to the river yesterday in Nixa at Shelvin rock Access. It was so beautiful and the kids had a great time looking for shells and trying to catch minnows. It was just nice to sit your lawn chair at the edge of the water to wade my feet in.

Yes changed so much over the years. But the MO DEPT of Conservation put a nice ramp in. They also made great parking. Great for putting in, or taking out.

Weve been looking for a river access that's great for both us and our 3 year old daughter and then we found shelvin rock access. We all loved it and will be going back very soon.

Good place for canoeing, floating, fishing, etc. Short drive from Hootentown or Highlandville where you can stock up on various supplies. I typically park my car at the campsite on Hootentown Rd and make my way down from Shelving Rock and after a long day of fishing camp it out near the riverside.

Great little place to get away

This access was expanded a few years ago and is well maintained. It is a great spot to put in for a half day float to Hootentown.

They've made it nice for floaters. Parking and access is much better.

Love to take my son swimming here we also use this as a place to start our float trips.

Beautiful area, friendly people. Seems like a really well taken care of spot.
